Having read the graphic novels. I’ve never seen an adaptation so perfect which I’m guessing is down to the fact that the author of the novels wrote the script and produced the show it feels so authentic and realistic and the fact the actors are 18-20 it’s so perfect xx
I want a Nick... Funnily enough we had one at my school, his name is Larry, star rugby player, good looking, good grades and very kind and humble and treated everyone with such respect... So they do exist

I LOVE YOUR REACTION! I was almost exactly the same...I am a bit older than you, so what affected me most is so unfortunate for us that we didn't have this positive content for queer people of my age. Closest thing was Beautiful Thing in 1996, but I was still too old (30 in 96) to appreciate it as a teen. I really love this so much though, and wish so much I could have had this show as a teen. I know how you feel buddy. I was born in 1991 and I think there was very little LGBT Romance stories other than the "Forbidden Fruit" types, if you catch my drift. I'm also glad to see it blending into the media nowadays, we have come a long way! :-D

The boy who saved Charlie from Ben, his name is Nicholas Nelson but we call him Nick, and that’s what he is called throughout the rest of the show, I hope this helps, because he is a very important character and has a lot of development. Please continue to watch this on here, I love it, and there is also a graphic novel series that was based on this! I hope this helps!
I've watched this show 2 times and it's not enough. It's so good. Everyone is so well written, the interactions are gorgeous and such good role models for kids. I really hope this show gets more seasons. I've never seen a show that makes feel this way and shows such important interactions with queer people. A+ for representation. You'll be obsessed by the time you finish. I'm gonna go cry gay tears of happiness now.

The show has more than paid it’s dues in an homage to its WEBTOON roots by not hiding that fact and actually making it a big form of their marketing. Alice, the author, was so heavily involved with the cast and crew and heavily consulted on everything. They got literally everything from Charlie’s backpack, all the way down to the shoes he and Nick wear. It’s the littlest details that make the biggest impact. I reread the books after watching the show and it is so closely followed concerning the story. They don’t deviate too far and it’s something that I’m sure a lot of people have appreciated. It’s pretty emotional, seeing characters in drawing just leap to life and become real people, they’ve captured everything so well and it made me cry because it was perfect representation. I love seeing people appreciate the show and such as much as I do.

It’s really true though that this show takes you back to that time when you were unsure of yourself, and you got butterflies and overanalyzed every single interaction you had with a crush. And everything was so hard to deal with. Ugh, young love….🥰

Euros Lyn was the series director. He has directed many episodes of Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sherlock, Broadchurch etc. Alice Oseman was there as an Executive Producer and adviser on the show. She was there at nearly every scene to make sure the director got it right.

Its amazing to see the books acted out, by such great actors to boot. This show (and the books) make my emotions compete with each other. One side fills my heart with warmth and hope. Other side, makes me envious of another life. Its brilliant.
I really hope you don't hate tao like everyone else, he can be a little dramatic and scared but he is just trying to protect the people he loves and also dealing with abandonment traumas🥺
@@ksiazkolub.pospolity3229 tbh the reason why people hate him so much is that his intention was not explained that well in the show. in the comic, it was better explained better for why he acted that way for charlie and nick and why he was being overprotective. idk that is what I think
Tao was a little too much for me. I realize he was trying to protect his friend but the way he was going about was at times just as harsh and emotionally damaging as the relationship with Ben.
By saying "we are barely friends anyway" to someone he KNOWS has mental issues and staying angry with him even after his conversation with nick just to spite Charlie, he really lost a lot of my respect. Charlie was already feeling horrible, he didn't need that.

I'm american but ive been so fascinated with the British culture ... sometimes i feel like ive been stuck where i am .. similar to when people say theyve been born at the wrong time. There's something so wholesome about this show and British culture, maybe i'm just looking through rose-tinted glasses but this show did things to me. I also love your avatar wall in the backround.

I learned this info from others who have watched this show but legally Elle didn't HAVE to switch schools. In the UK, trans people in single sex/gendered schools can stay in whatever school they are in and transition....but I assume a lot of them do switch for comfort/bullying reasons, probably. But, legally, they dont have to. Kinda interesting to learn. I'm from Canada. Most schools here (even private ones) are mixed & not segregated by sex.
Interesting what you were saying about the sports/rugby kids; growing up in the late 90s early 00s in Oz, the sports jocks at my school were basically the nicest people in the year. I always found the cliches funny given my experience. Now the drama kids, that's where the arses were.
