Thank you. I wish I could credit for it but I can't. I saw someone else do it. Sadly I can't remember who. It saves allot of money. Your channel is growing quickly. You are awesome!
Yes I did enjoy this. I love both embossing and tear rulers. I will definitely make some new tear rulers because each one will have a different design. I think it's quicker and easier to tear with a ruler than by hand. TFS XOXO
@@susiescraftroomandstudio *Definitely.... Gotta keep learning Susie's secrets/, knowledge she has for us. Going back to bed a sleeping the day away today. 🤗🤗🤗*
One thing I learned when my friend was teaching me about embossing is to put your embossing powder in like a Rubbermaid or tupperware container. A long rectangle shaped one that is not real tall. Just dump it in there and put a plastic spoon in there then you can hold your item to be embossed over it and use the spoon to shake over the project then flip your project over and tap it with your fingers and it all goes right back into the Container ....throw the spoon back in and put the lid on. I thought that was genius! One of the best tips I ever got way back then. I only do that with my clear embossing powder though I don't have room for all those containers if I used one for every color. LOL my container is maybe an inch high and 5x8 ish....kinda like you would put lunch meat in....
Thank you so much, I enjoyed learning both techniques. I love how the silver looks, even when it is over melted. I am new to all of this. Rachel (Lerê) sent me your way. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day.🦩🐬🤗
Susie, thanks for video. Some FYIs for those who are looking to try more heat embossing. They make an embossing buddy or a brush one that you wipe over the surface before embossing because the oils in your fingers leave marks on paper and the powder sticks to it. I imagine you could figure out a DIY for the embossing buddy. Next, all embossing powder isn't equal. If you have a very detailed stamped image or sentiment be sure to buy a detailed embossing powder. Otherwise it sort of globs. Next they do make an embossing pen so you can draw shapes, etc or go down those lines on the little folder card. Finally, if you just want cool abstract splatters dip your fingers in water and splatter it on the paper. Pour on your embossing powder, tap off, then heat emboss. No ink needed.
Did you hear me yelling no Susie no no don't use your heat gun over your cutting mat. LOL I ruined one of my cutting mats when I first started. Had a ton of warps and mountains all over it from embossing now I don't get my embossing gun anywhere near my mats. You always have the neatest tips and tricks. Can't wait to try making a tear ruler although I have one I always just want to try stuff I see. 😁
Great video Susie, you’re right about tear rulers and not using them. I wish I had seen how to do this before I bought mine, cos I rarely use it and they are expensive. Big hugs ❤️ and stay safe, Dee xx
Thanks Dee. I really like them because inking the edges looks great but it can become cumbersome if you are tearing and inking all the pages of a journal. I think we forget about using them on ephemera because when they are out of site, they are out of mind. We have so many techniques as well so that also makes me forget about using them. I try to encourage everyone not to spend the big money on things they may not use. Some of the mega channels show using things once or twice on a small scale and people think things are a must have. Blessings and Hugs 🤗
It does but it is hard to keep the embossing powder from blowing off. If you use a hair dryer get the air coming our hot and heat up the back of the piece. It takes work A better solution may be to set it on your stove burner. I will experiment with it and let you know. My stove is kinda like yours, so I will try that.
O my days nearly had my eye out LOL They were too brilliant techniques to film Susie. I like that you showed what happens if there is not enough embossing powder on your image. Grate tear ruler too. Seen the one's were they use the metal strip from Bacofoil. I would be feared of cutting my fingers. I do have a tear ruler and do use it.. Love you heaps xxx will share in next video for race to 1000 hun xxx
I try to do anything that people want to know how to do. If I know how to do it, I will. If I don't, i will research it and learn how and find the cheapest way to do it. Thank you for your continual love and support.
I haven't either but it's nice to see what it looks like and how to use it. Sometimes it's fun to see what's out there that might be interesting to try/learn next.
@@susiescraftroomandstudio I'm not there yet. Really enjoying the tools I have now. I have a lot to learn but this is on "the list" of things I want to explore/learn.
Do you think wire cutters would work? Every year ruler I've bought I think is too thick. They don't have the metal ones, that I can find anyway. Thank you for this 😊.
