@@isnkevkfehbrq so now instead of just enjoying my song or looking for the hint to my next one i actually gotta click the video below saying heat ending best quality. Brb
@@isnkevkfehbrq as amazing as Pacino was, it was De Niro's incredibly understated intensity that was the film's best performance, amongst several terrific performances by the tremendous ensemble cast.
When Neil said "I told you I was never going back." I had a lump in my throat, but when he reached up for Vince's hand, a warm embrace from a friend in another life, I had tears streaming down my cheek.
Haha den of thieves would be a good example. Den of thieves takes alot from HEAT. The gunfights and investugation. both movies are great and have great casts
@@attila_the_hunk9685 “dude the movie industry is still booming though man, like just got to know what to find” this is so wrong. I am a zoomer born in ‘01 but movies like Leon, pulp fiction, heat, brave heart, gladiator all have a feeling inside me, the movies actually meant to something to me. It’s sad because I think even spider man 1 was pretty cool but everything else is just crap. Sad really
@@xiphias2997The topics that Heat tackles are more realistic and meaningful than those of Godfather II's in my opinion, let's not forget that Heat has an original story (remade from a tv series pilot, which was the same original story written by the same person who directed and wrote Heat) while the Godfather trilogy is an adaptation, so the originality adds some points to it. We barely get crime sagas like those anymore though so they both will remain untouched for god knows how long, here's hoping Heat 2 will be at least half as good as the first.
Vincent absolutely didn't want to kill Neil...but he knew he HAD to or die just the same. The sorrow on Vincent's face as he held Neil's hand tells the story. Brilliant ending
@@ericroma-garcia7158 When are you going to get some furniture?/ A-When I get around to it-ME 23rd birthday-looking out across the Ocean-just like that!!Nothing changes -god bless mates
Back when Hollywood cared about making masterpieces. We don't see those anymore. Mann is a genius. The cinematography in Heat is out this world! Then you add the perfect casting, perfect acting, perfect directing, perfect screenplay, perfect score, perfect editing... Jeez... What a ride!
@@tb5827 Cry me a river, because all the actors in the movie are Woke actors, including the producers & writers of the movie & the composer of heat’s soundtrack as well. Go watch a movie about your clown hero trump & his friend desantis who Burns books in Florida 🤡🤡🤡
@@tb5827 You think this film ISN'T woke? the "Hero" is a police officer with a cocaine addiction who is clearly meant to be at least a little bit corrupt, his brutal style is destroying his life, his marraige is on the rocks. The two police officers in his team who get killed or injured in teh shootout are the white guys, the black cop and the native american survive. The three crooks are white straight men with superficially happy materially comfortable lives, but underneath are deeply dysfunctional because of their need to fund the "American Dream". The young prostitute is an African American girl who is murdere by a white supremacist, who is the most vile character in teh film, and the one who we are all happy to see killed. The second most vile character is the sleazy corrupt banker played by William Fichtner. A person using a wheelchair is the one with the cool plan to rob the bank, no mention is made of the fact taht he uses a wheelchair, its not an issue because he can do what needs to be done. The only time we see Vinent show empathy or tenderness is when he is comforting the murdered girl's mother and when he finds his step daughter dying in the bath. Vincent realises his self image of masculinity toxic and that it is influence is destroying his wife and daughter's life, so he voluntarily leaves them for their own good. Chris's wife sheds Chris after realising that he is ultimately an abusive and controlling person with a gambling habit he can't control, she decides she will stand n her own two feet and raise their son herself. Vinvent sees reflections of himself in Neil (in that they are both driven professionals who have cut out personal attachments to achieve their goals), but his shooting of him at the end may be a metaphor for Vincent "killing" the old version of himself. This film is woke as f**k, you just didn't realise it.
@@jnnx At the expense of inflating yours, I disagree. Yes, Moby is getting older, and less attractive. His music however grows with me like a seeded plant. (no they are not all seeded). When I heard this song for the first time, I fell in love.
RIP Tom Sizemore Your roles in Heat, Saving Private Ryan, and being the voice of Sonny Forelli in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will forever be legendary. Thank you from all of us who will very much miss you along with Ray Liotta who voiced Tommy Vercetti, the main character of Vice City. Both the main hero and the main villain of the greatest video game ever died a year apart from each other. I never imagined this ever happening.
My brother died in June of last year... and he loved the track. He never got to see heat he always told me he needed to rent a room and watch it. Rest easy big bro. Now you can watch it in heaven.
From "Godfather" to "Scent of a Woman." From "Raging Bull" to "Goodfellas." Their performances has created a legacy of landmark films. Two of America's most electrifying actors collide. Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, in a Michael Mann film. HEAT.
Can’t forget Scarface, Carlito’s Way, Devil’s Advocate, Awakenings, Cape Fear, The Mission. There will never be an actor like these two legends. They are simply untouchable. Too many stunning performances. Too much greatness
This movie is finally getting the recognition it deserves, two decades after its release. One of the finest movies ever made, with the best elements of action, drama and even some aspects of a thriller. A timeless classic.
The best sense I have been able to make of why it wasn't better received is that the critics saw it as a remake of LA Takedown rather than appreciate Mann & Co's desperate efforts to bring this work of art to audiences in whatever firmatvtgey could at the time. I imagine it has even been tried as a play. DeNiro and Pacino gave my respect for 'getting' the extraordinary script abd signing on, and the extraordinary supporting cast that didn't over-play their parts. Abd then there is the cinematography and the sound craftsmanship. Arguably the most masculine tragedy ever presented on screen. It has epic written all over it. What a palette. What an intelligent film. What 3 dimensional characters. I would love to know what the great female actors and directors think of Heat.
I definitely agree with you. This movie was a complete masterpiece. Nothing like this will ever come out in theaters or DVD. This movie is damn good, if not the greatest movie since Gone With The Wind or Citizen Cane with Orson Welles.
1995 was a mad year for movies - Heat, Shawshank, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Dangerous Minds, Casino, Se7en, Crimson Tide, Braveheart - one of the best years
@@hagenschroeder8459 Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, and Forrest Gump all came out in 1994, but Heat should've been nominated for Best Picture or something.
@@jameshoran8 what a lucky guy. Sucks I was born in 1995. And I swear on my mother, I haven't seen a actor better than De Niro. Greatest ever. I would pay my yearly earnings to watch this back in 1995.
Same here. I can still remember it vividly - my now ex girlfriend trying to drag me away. I’m getting goosebumps just listening to this music. Michael Mann is so underrated.
The Irishman was absolutely astounding and Deep! Any movie with Robert De Niro or Al Pacino or especially movies with both of them in it are going to be above and beyond!
« Told you I’m never going back » Saddest finale in any movie ever. Omg. So deep. So powerful. The look of Pacino. Just doing his job. Nothing personal about a man he could be easily friend with. And when he take his hand omg.
@@datadude67 “Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat, if you feel the heat around the corner.”
The first time I saw this movie I knew no other would come close to it. Sure I am a huge LOTR fan and love the trilogy to bits, but even that doesn't beat Heat, which might sound crazy but it's true. Watching (and listening) to Heat makes you feel.... stuff lol, it's mad but you just know it is something special, and doesn't get the credit it truly deserves. THE best movie of all time, and the way movies are now that will never change imo.
A shout to anybody that grew up in the 90's lol we are considered old now!! But what glorys on the music and films we grew up on!!😀😎..i miss it so much
@Alfonso Padilla uh huh. '...the peak of human culture...', '...our own awesome style.', '...humans are devolving.'? i would listen with rapt attention if you care to back up such feverish claims.
Hi Ben Blackwood. What is the meaning of your obama-adolf profile photo? I am not trying to be confrontational at all. But I am curious as to what it means.
The moment where Vincent spins the distraught mother around, and around to avert her from seeing her murdered daughter just breaks me.... shows his compassion, but also his self-preservation, the way he doesn't make eye-contact with her... It really was one of Al's finest performances. The whole film is littered with great actors managed brilliantly by Mann. The silences speak volumes in large parts of the movie.
I saw it in the cinema when it first came out in 1995. I knew I was going to be watching something good but I didn’t realIse how good. No movie has topped it since.
At the age of 18, i saw my first movie at a cinema, and this was it. Had never heard of Pacino or De Niro being from a refugee family. Damn never saw a TV till 83. I got given a great life in Australia and am a cinematic expert.....This is still the best movie, film, soundtrack EVER!!!
@@mattwilkins9978 Yeah but it kind of set the precedence for me, and then ive been disappointed by pretty much everything after that. There are some, but nothing has ever come close the the cinematic experience of this film.
I was on a flight from Nashville to Dallas back in May and while the plane was sitting on the runway waiting to takeoff this song started playing on my phone. As the song started picking up a little bit the plane started taking off and when the song got to 1:16 the plane started lifting up off the ground and into the sky… it gives me goosebumps now just thinking about that. Great song and love the movie Heat (1995) 😁🎉
I watched this film back in 1995 whilst at uni in Liverpool at the Cannon Cinema (previously ABC) a real old fashioned picture house. I was completely spellbound by this film and music score. If there's an afterlife it would be to go back to that time and cinema to watch this again.
SCOTT SCOTT-AWAKE??ME-What a movie???????Like no other/went to JMU(Clarence st.)-81-82 Reside in the land of GUNS now(usa)-MM is the best movie Director in the same class as HH & MS & FFK -JH (It's China Town Jake) Sorry got of topic -HEAT THE BEST MOVIE SINCE MALTESE FALCON BAR NONE END OF SPORTS -TAKE CARE SCOUSER
This movie had so many subplots. But the thing is.....both of those men were different but literally the same person. The scene in the diner where Deniro says maybe we will never see each other again. Watch how Pacino and Deniro look at each other. They know they will see each other and more than likely die at the hands of the other.
This is My song to die to. It's just perfect. The cascading piano feels like trepidation, the strings fill me with re-assurance that it's going to be ok. We're going OHM to the divine spirit.
I was mentally ill at 18, experiencing the first psychosis of my lifetime, bipolar disorder manifesting symptoms awful for which I had no tools to cope with, but the end of this film, HEAT, it just dissipated all this negative energy from inside me and left me cold, empty and devoid of the emotional tears in the fabric of a life, and so rather put me calm and at peace I love this ending, I love the piano, I love the existential overtones and refusal to bow to the inevitable----refusal to bow to going back inside. Anyone who can die on principle deserves special recognition. "Told you I'm never going back." Bravo, magnifico!
The soundtrack to this film is a masterpiece. Not only the film score, but, if you watch it again observe the background sounds that only your subconscious picks up. It’s adds to the whole atmospheric sphere to the movie.
summer 2017 in South Central college, Ms Wheeler in the music class taught music terms, among them.... "Crescendo" .... so, I know what you mean my friend :)
Thank you for putting in Deniro's theme. I love that moment when he decides to go after Wiengro. You can see the exact moment he changes his mind on his face. The decision that leads to his death.
@@kareystone2285 idk I think the smart thing to do would've been to tell his guy to keep tabs on him until he could come back later and kill him. Or let him go completely. But when he started a relationship it also started a trend of going against his code. He started taking more chances. Which led to his end. But I don't think he would've done it had he not started seeing that woman.
That moment when he's driving and decides to turn the wheel, you can see his struggle with the decision, on his face in the seconds just before turning the steering wheel. One of my favourite de Niro moments. And that of course seals his fate.
I've watched this movie so many times and it never fails to leave me in awe. The cinematography, the dialogue, the performances and of course the soundtrack... it just hits on another level. We will never get a movie like this ever again, hats off to Michael Mann and everyone else involved in the production
romeo garcia It is the perfect song for an awesome ending. But you realize that Michael Mann stole this whole movie idea from a made-for-tv movie that had come out years before
Bro you just have to look for it. Seriously, you'll still find glorious modern masterpieces such as Drive, The Witch, etc. It's just that we compare completely different artpieces and expect the same forms of grandeur in all of them, but the gold is on the uniqueness. Please, do not give up on searching for great cinematographic works.
Believe it was late '95, myself and group of friends went to the cinema to watch HEAT. Had no idea that film would stick with me forever, the ending wow, so powerful. Moby soundtrack to finish, just blew my mind. I just wanted to sit and cry, emotion rollercoaster. No other film has ever had that effect. Stunning.
'you wanna know what they are looking at...... Is this guy something or what....... US gentleman we've been made' One of the finest moments in film history
This track came out @ 3 months before this movie. And I would put this track on while heading home after work . The traffic always bother me ( I live in L.A. ). But not at all while hearing this. As soon as I listened to this, I said this track should be in a movie. After a couple of months it was made the theme song for Heat. What a beauty!
I love the level of respect and honour the cop (Vincent) and the criminal (Neil) have towards each other because both of them understand themselves but they understand each other as for in the ending when Neil dies Vincent holds his hand as a sign of respect and honour even though he’s literally just killed him he still respects him and that is true story telling power on the big screen
It’s not a movie you watch, it’s a movie you live, feel, embrace. Can’t explain it but each time I watch it (more than 10 times now), I feel transcended. This movie is a journey full of deep emotions. The scenery, the music, the blue color Michael Mann uses… Time stands still when you watch this movie.
My Dad and I watched this in the theatres together in 95-96. We rewatched it together a few days ago after almost 26 years. After the movie was over I turned to him and told him that for 26 years I haven’t seen anything like this. He just smiled at me.
*A clinic of acting from all the actors. Saw this movie three times when it opened. The audience was mesmerized with the bank hold up scenes. Even the seats vibrate. And the last scene with this background music. Michael Mann made a masterpiece. It could have been made two or three weeks ago. It's a timeless movie.*
Yup. Parents showed me this when I was a teenager but now I’m nearing my thirties and seeing this movie again is something else. Just such a proper and mature story
Haven't heard this in years. I am staring into nothing, saturated in goose bumps and trying to remember how to breathe. I bet heaven sounds just like this.
Just watched this again last night, and still, in 2023, still, this is a pure masterpiece of filmmaking and soundtracking ahead of its time. It goes beyond Training Day, Street Kings etc
Awesome movie, Sublime piece of Directing, wonderful Cinematography, Flawless and superb Acting, the most Amazing soundtrack Ever, this movie has everything.
