I briefly installed one in my van with the exhaust going out the sunroof. It works great but you definitely need an insulated space. Also, you definitely need to run the fan to get the most heat output. Good thing is you can run the fan off a DeWalt battery because it has a variable resistor so it will accept an 18 V battery (which is what a 20 V DeWalt battery is actually rated) I chose against installing it permanently for one simple reason. Propane is highly explosive. You absolutely have to install an external propane tank. On sailboats, they have a special vented propane locker to hold the tank
i've Always Loved these fireplace/Heaters!! Also, Like the Whole IDEA...of No condensation!!...Great Convenience!...if you have it on 'Low' setting will that keep You Warm..thru ..let's say a 05*F night?...Great they'r Canadian 'Made' TOO! ..although I'm from Toronto Canada!... CHEERS !!...GREAT Video's! Really Like Your 'Set UP'!...a bit 'out of my Budget..but i'll take it Step By Step with the Up GRADES!!
Yeah I should have went over that but this video was more of a breakdown of what this thing actually is and how it works. Thanks for checking it out. You’re going to love this thing!
I read on the their website. Elevation plays an important role. Sea level to 2000’ is normal operation. Anything over that elevation the orifice needs to be bigger. Did you change the orifice size?
Great video and extremely informative thank you. When you say well below freezing are we talking like 20° f or like minus 20° f I live in Eastern Canada and I just love these campers and I just want to make sure it holds up to the cold
Definitely not -20 F. You gotta remember it’s a big aluminum box that stays cold. I not only run this marine fireplace but I’ve also insulated most of the camper using Bed Rug, I’ve even stuffed that insulation in the side flip up doors and it made a HUGE difference. That little Dickinson unit heats the Canopy Camper extremely well and is very efficient at doing it.

@@HudsonZRoamer I'm debating currently which way to go. How warm would you say it keeps the interior? Still seeing your breath and jacket required or you're so warm you can keep it on low?
Can you run the heater without electric if you havent got house battery in yet? .seems like it would still heat small spot fine till i get electric? Could you run the fan with goal zero? Jackery? Thanks.
Is that a disconnect on your chimney 1-2 inches above the mole panel? Trails I ride are grown over enough that I'd be concerned about branch catching it.
Another great well thought out video! THANK YOU! Did you wrap the telescoping shock in something? What locks are you using on the 2 exterior locking clasps? Again ty!
No In the video it was just warming up after first being lit, it’s just the sound of the metal expanding after heating up. Once the metal heats up all you hear is the flame.
When running the fireplace and the propane stove, do you find the 11lb cylinder is always running out on say a 2 week trip? Also, any good idea where you could store a spare 11lb tank on the exterior of the Canopy Camper?
Hey man . I seen on Alu cab website that you get the fire place mole panel to fit that fireplace . I thought the normal Alu cab mole panel would work with that fire place ? Is two different mole panel deigns ?
The normal Alu-Cab mole panel would need some trimming for the chimney to pass through it. I'll try to find another video where they trim it for the GP kit to pass through it.
