Also keith thurman scored the first five rounds to porter. Errol did get caught with very good punches but he stayed calm and managed to somewhat neutralise the rough and rugged fighting style of porter. I wanted porter to win but i think this is a well deserved Errol Spence win.

Up to this point, any fighter who has gone up against him, elite or not, has not been able to keep him from making it ugly. Spence was no different. It's not like Spence didn't try to knock Porter out, he almost did.

@@leftyloose8576 That's true actually, Brook did show us the blueprint. And it's not like Mandown didn't have the size to bully Porter. This reminds me of Thurman's most recent fight against Pacman. He could've boxed to a victory against him like he did Danny Garcia but decided to fight Pac's game, and it was a closer fight than it appeared, or at least than the crowded Filipino fan filled stadium made it seem. Not knocking them, that's what you're supposed to do. But Thurman had figured out Pacs quick and small flurry rhythm by the middle rounds and started fighting better. It was just the big flash knockdown and the shot to the body (both relatively nonthreatening) that made two other judges rule for Pac. A close fight on the cards and I felt the margins were much closer. But back to Spence. My only problem with what you said is Thurman and Spence are two totally different fighters. So while Thurman is more inclined to mix it up in there and not just go for the knockout, Spence is almost always going for the Mandown, so I don't think he was trying to prove he could let it be an ugly fight and still win, I think it makes more sense to say he was trying to knock him out and couldn't, and got pretty banged up in the process but found a way to win. I always felt Spence was in control that fight, but in relative control. He definitely was not imposing his will the way we usually see it. He had to think in there and fought most of the fight defensively.
