@@Djdoublej Many comments Ive seen is that these style heaters don't like dirt and dust. They tend to struggle lighting or staying lit if the pilot flame sensor get dirty. ( workshops dirty? - that's wierd 😉) Basically, due some regular cleaning and it might solve your issue of staying lit, or not lighting in general.

Code here says it has to be a yellow plastic coated copper pipe not plain copper , and orange coated coper for heating oil. Otherwise than that I think you guys did a great Job

Code where I'm at just needs to be a copper pipe. Good information that everyone should check out before installing. Thank you!

Put in a cheap or old ceiling fan and it will work wonders to speed up heating. They work way better than fan units attached to heater.

Cannot figure out why the pilot will not light? Propane is not an issue. How do you bleed the line? We do not smell any propane? But when we take the line off heater, plenty of propane is coming thru. Thanks Joy

When I had the propane tank hooked up outside the guy told me that getting them started was a pain in theA@$. It wasn't easy he ended using something to get it to light.
@robertprestonsr2453

I have found that the best thing to do with a new lp heater is to let the gas run on open from the tank for at least 15 minutes to the heater with the knob set on pilot before you even try to light it with the ignitor at the unit... Then, hold the pilot knob down for a minute or more before you try to ignite with the piezo button... It takes a long time for the gas to "fill" all the lines and build up pressure... The run length of the connection line matters, as does the amount of gas level in the outside tank, the type of regulator used, the size of the tank itself, AND the outside temperature...(you will get MORE pressure and fill rate faster in warmer temperatures..) (this set up looks very good and professional to me) And by the way, as you ignite try for the first time after that long wait, you should see at least some small evidence of gas combustion at the pilot light flame point... Things would have gone faster if your outside tank had been almost full, not almost empty... But of you don't see any evidence, you can check by putting a fire place lighter down by the pilot point and hold the pilot knob down... (if you see some of the flame from the lighter move, you know you have at least some gas flowing through the system...) On some models, I snip off a piece of the wire at the front of the heater to allow the fire place lighter to get into place more easily... My concern with your heater is: Is there a thermostat on the heater itself? I use heaters which will turn themselves on and off automatically, which is an OPTION one should look for on the box at the store...There are many cheaper models which just run continuously and eat up a lot more propane that way... Running full time in cold weather in that 3 cars garage, I doubt your 100lb tank will last more than 10 days at most... With the cost of propane sky rocketing recently, I am leaving my garage unit off until the temp is well below freezing...(the regular place I use to get propane charged $4.00 per GALLON yesterday, which is up from $2.50 or so just 3 months ago...ouch) Lastly, a very small fan place just above the unit will help a lot to move the blue flame heat out away from the until faster...(if it matters, I much prefer blue flame to infrared type heaters.... I also prefer DynaGlow or ProCom to the more popular brand.)

Are the orange flames okay?? Or is it suppose to be blue??
@thebrothersbarn6094
@thebrothersbarn6094 Год назад
Hello Jamila To answer your question, it does depend on what type of area you are going to heat. If the area is insulated, I would more than likely use blue flame. If the area or room has drafts and not insulated, the orange one might be better. Hope this helps you out.

How is it taking 3hrs to heat up 10deg? Put ours in a 450sqft cabin and it heats it within 15 minutes. Ceiling fan, as someone mentioned, is key though. Loft of the cabin is an oven without it. Went with the 30k btu model so it didn't stay running all the time. Also, I don't believe the flame increases with higher settings, it just stays lit longer until the thermostat in the switch cuts it off.
@thebrothersbarn6094
@thebrothersbarn6094 2 года назад
Did you buy the fan that is made to mount to the heater? It is post to help push the heat out so it can heat the room up better. I don't have it but that is my understanding. Also I think you are right the flame will not get bigger maybe hotter and stay on longer to get the temp up. Hope this helps. Thank you!
@dthatsme129
@dthatsme129 2 года назад
@@thebrothersbarn6094 we didn't opt for the fan/blower because we needed more circulation. Since our cabin is only powered by a generator, the ceiling fan made the most sense. I'm not crazy about having a generator running all night to keep the air circulated so I may have to work on another fan setup.

Do these turn off when they get to a certain temperature and then turn back on when it drops below a certain temperature?

The one I got does shut off and turn back on. It's all by the dial on the top of the unit. I put a temperature gage in the garage to help me find what number to keep the dial on for me.

SO PROPANE Buy an eco fan no power neede to run it I have an old one and a new one . They both work the same , The old one is heavier and bigger and was from my parents PA house and must be from the early 50's the new one I bought over 3 years ago it is lighter and smaller . I have the raiant dyn glo 18 thousand BTU and it warms p a 2440 sq ft infinished basement to 70 degrees with the fans up on a block in front of the heater in about an hour . forgot from floor to ceiling in basement is 14 feet . Basement contractor went a little crazy . My house is a modular home and would do it again , minus the dumb basement contractor of course . I think he was a little off even footings for basement are 18 feet deep . Back then in VA footings had to be 18 inchs and now under new code they have to be 24 inchs deep . I think guy digging out for basement and footings did not know the differnce between 1 slash and 2 slashes
