You are right. I miss that some of the lyrics at that time were so whimsical yet articulate. When you see the actual realities of some of the big bands in music documentaries you can see how aspirational they without the yuppie connotation of the word which followed after.
I remember buying this album and listening to it over and over. Just saw the band yesterday at Lets Rock Festival 41 years later and they were fantastic. Early 80’s British Synth pop was just so good.
It is today perhaps. It was not underrated at its time and neither was the band. They seem to have been forgotten lately though which is a shame and very much undeserved.
Wow. I've just heard this on bbc 6 music and was blown away that for a track that is 41 years old, it sounds so fresh. Forget Temptation, this is one of if not their finest moment on record.
Absolutely rare and unique Heaven 17 was such a musical force and the video is as pleasant as a little bit disturbing with some hidden messages by fits and starts
@@veggie42 Black Eyed Peas are not in the same League ( pun ) as HEAVEN 17. Black Eyed Peas ARE PRETTY FUCKIN' AWFUL ACTUALLY. Please don't associate crap with HEAVEN 17.
'This song reminds me of the beauty of calculus, you see, nature assigns a number to everything, and some numbers, people or places must be substracted in order for the equation to work correctly, i quite fancy a blend of mathematics and extreme violence!' - GTA VCS - Adam First, 1984.
Como Dj , empezé en los 80 ' y llenaba pista con este tema . Brutal la línea de bajo y los sintetizadores son geniales . Lp con mucha calidad y buen sonido.....
Spot the alarm-chronograph watch at 2:14. Seiko, about £160 quid when they came out, a few rich kids at school had them. Within 2 or 3 years, the Casio came out: same watch (plastic strap): £6.99.
I call myself a fan and this is the first time I have ever seen this video. I’m appalled ha ha. I don’t remember it being played on any of the shows I used to watch as a kid.
Had a clip of this song on a casette for years and didn't know what it was. Thought it was Human League for many years. Really captures the early 80's.
Yes, the only 2 songs of H17 I remember ever hearing at the time were Temptation and "Crushed by the Wheels of Industry" - the rest did indeed pass me by I suppose I was too busy listening to DD and Spandau and ABC
Why won't people shut up about the bass line? I like a parrot learned a new word, nobody is talking about the vocals, the Rhodes, or the mighty LInn drum?
Fantastic band live. Unlike other bands with the Thatcherism banner flying high, they didn't sell their souls for a quick buck. A great antidote for the yuppie decadence of the 1980s . Fascist Groove , more relevant today than ever. Wake up! Your beds are burning.
Definitely has a distinct sound of its' own, probably the programming interface is what lead to it being on so many songs and also responsible for the sound and style of the music it was used on.
Kink FM was my second youth. Best Radio channel ever. Pinguin is not bad given the resources they have but Kink was sooo good. Nice to see some soul mates here. I really enjoyed the eighties. So inspirational. The crisis now cannot get deep enough for me. The real musicians and artists will rise again.
