Fun fact, it's supposed to be Nidhogg at 3:41 instead of Hraesvelgr. But during production, someone did an oopsie and sent the animation team the wrong concept art. Thus we have the vore king attacking Ishgard in the cinematic when we all know he'd never do that.

Maybe I'm just too passionate about stuff like this, but listening to works of art like this, even without the visuals and just my imagination alone, can bring tears to my eyes.

I was just a poor kid when FF14 came out, I couldn't even afford my own PC when HW came out. But the trailers fueled my imagination, encouraged me to write. I remember watching HW trailer in particular, being fascinated by dragons and sky cities and just castles found high up they almost pierce the sky. Now I'm fully employed and has finished ARR and Heavensward, almost done with Stormblood. Heavensward will always have a special place in my heart, my favorite expansion. Edit: Thank you for the sweet replies. I finished everything up to Endwalker, and taking my sweet time with Dawntrail! My experience has been a beautiful one! ^^

The absolute crescendo at 3:55 has to be one of my favorite musical sequences in history. There's something absolutely uplifting about rising melodies, but they have to crest eventually. Yet somehow, this one seems to just continue to rise - heavens-ward, one might say - and then has such a potent cap that it feels amazing to listen to every time. I've enjoyed all the FFXIV trailers in different ways, but that little section of this one still ranks at the top with the only rival in my mind being part of Answers in ARR, the Estinian segment (which is basically this same music again), the part where Alphie heals Alisaie, and the Wings of Hope segment (all from EW - EW's music is just amazing, but so is almost all FFXIV music!)

I will never forget that night of April 2022 when I finally after so much anticipation, finished ARR and got to watch this trailer for the first time before proceeding to Ishgard.

I always find myself coming back to this theme. Especially when it comes to the beginning leading up to 1:45 is so melancholy yet beautiful. I could listen to her voice and that amazing melody. Don’t even get me started on Endwalker - Footfalls 😉

0:34 "Bound fast unto our fate One path, one burden great" This singular phrase pulled me into FF14, and though I've been slow about it, it's been one hell of a journey.

The scene where the Warrior of Light joins the other Dragoons never fails to give me goosegumps. It gives me such good Attack on Titans vibe.

"The savior must perish, Vengeance will be ours" this message so powerful and put in climax song...........perfect

I still love how similar the ruling authority in Ishgard is to the Dragons they're fighting. Still love how world-breaking they present revelations.

As someone who officially started the HW expansion tonight, I’m truly feeling the hype of this song when it played in game. Knowing the lore, I now think “Guide us, O mighty Fury / Guide us to victory” are the Ishgardians and the wyrms believing their war of millennia will be won by their own people, and the final chorus are of the dragons singing of retribution for the Ishgardian’s past transgressions Having played none of it, I can definitely say HW will be my favourite expansion

I love how the lyrics shift into Dravanian when the dragons appear ono screen

6 years later and this is STILL my favorite expansion HANDS DOWN! Everyone has their own opinion, but Heavensward MSQ and content was peak for me. Patch 3.3 to 3.5 are my all time favorite patches. I miss Heavensward so much :'C

I still remember grinding Coretheas Fates leveling up my dragoon, and preparing for Heavensward. Since then I have been a dragoon main and I don't regret it.

Honestly since i fisnished ARR and cross to Heavensward, i haven't been able to listen to this theme, it's just so right about everything and now singing the lyrics it all makes sense as to why i can't stop. The path to retribution is ahead of me now and i will stop at nothing until i get my vengeance!!

Having played since ARR beta, Heavensward is still by far my favorite expansion. Everything just came together so perfectly, and the community and gameplay at the time was unmatched. Very special place in my heart.

I'm not an MMO player. As i huge final fantasy games lover, i didn't know that this game has an amazing story presentation. Very emotional, impressive. I quickly finished other 2 expansions too after i finished heavenward. Every one of them was unique. Every single song was perfectly composed, they all were so beautiful. These made me to say that again : I'm glad that I'm a final fantasy fan. Now I'm very excited for Endwalker and Final Fantasy XVI

*Ultimate fight spoilers* NGL it was pretty creepy seeing Hrasevalgar's brood getting tempered. They really thought of a lot when making this fight.

We never really had another moment like this. Sure there were plot twists, but this whole section of story was so game of thrones it was great.

I’ve got to admit that while I enjoyed this entire trailer, my favourite bit was seeing the WoL stand-in don his distinctive Dragoon attire and join the others in defence of Ishgard. Even though my WoL is a female Hyur summoner for solo content and scholar or white magic for group content. It’s hard to say whether I prefer Sch or Whm though. But after that final battle with Nidhogg I was so impressed with the Heavensward story and the history and lore of the Dragoons I went back and created a second character. A female Elezen that started off as a Lancer and progressed to Dragoon. She’s now lvl 51 and on that final few missions that culminates in Eorzea kicking the Garleans out. Yet I must also admit that having only having gotten through part of Stormblood and seen the conditions of both Ala Mhigo and Doma, I have a renewed appreciation of exactly how much of a bad idea it was to even consider surrendering to Baelsar. And I have a renewed gladness that Minfilia talked the Seedseer, Admiral and Sultana out of it.

For me, Heavensward and Dragonsong are the soundtracks that hit the hardest, they are just so damn good.

The clarinet that starts around 2:26 is VERY reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts. Yeah it's SE, but still.

Hey I just realized (as of 4:55 AM Tuesday November 22nd 2022) this vid just turned a year old! I have watched this so much this year writing for my own game its crazy yet I never noticed the date of upload. Favorite trailer ever.

This trailer KEEPS giving me goosebumps. I remember playing ARR sooo late, but remaining spoiler-free and went into Heavensward without a clue. This hit like nothing else. I'm a WoW vet but their trailers never had this kind of spectacle and energy, and while the music there has been pretty good, this is still LEVELS above. Hitting that mark between high and low fantasy like FF should. The narrative in just this trailer is concise, driving, allowing a moment to pause, to breathe, and then it ramps all over again into the tremendous finale. Just masterful.

I love how honest this video is about Ishgard: such as the life in the city and the fighting, and then there is the banquet teasers that had me going at the end of arr like: "OK, I know what happens.... This is just the Heavensward trailer-OMFG. NO. NO. *NOOOOOOO!*" Bravo yoshi p, bravo 👏🏻

Unfortunately with this expac being so old, and certain things being obvious now that weren't at the time... This trailer was so fucking heartbreaking at the time. Literally becoming exiled from Eorzea. That feeling of walking alone in the snow, that's how HW really started for us and it was so impactful.

Rewatching it the n gillion times I just caught a glimpse of how dragoon jump that high and it finally make sense. Apparently they jump and catch the projecting ballista’s rope and let go mid air. Holy balls who thought of that absurd move lmao

I like riding my Black Chocobo around Stormblood areas from time to time (HW Spoilers below btw). I have cooler mounts sure, but it's like I'm paying tribute to the man who saw me as a true friend and believed in me, not just the Warrior of Light, before anyone else. Like he's right there with me, fighting the good fight. And me doing that made the scene where Gosetsu talks about the Dotharl's belief and pays respect to the one who died so much more beautiful to me. RIP Haurchefant 🙏

Honestly, final fantasy xiv is the only game that has ever been able to instill pride in me in the class I have chosen. I've been a dragoon since 1.0 . Heavensward was such a great experience as a dragoon main, seeing the fascinating history and pride of my chosen class. Whenever I hear the heavenswards theme, a great sense of pride swells in me as a dragoon.

Still one of my favorites by Soken. The dragon tongue is epic

The beginning sounds like "Coils of Light" from Dragon's Dogma, and the end reminds me of "The Beginning of the End" from Type-0. Also, I'll admit that I haven't played past 5.3, but even Amaurot can't compare with how good Ishgard and Dravania looks, particularly in the cinematics and concept art.

despite having spoiler for the end of the previous expansion, this is still my favorite trailer and theme song, even more than the Shadowbringer trailer - my 2nd fav this hypes me up so much, makes me feel like an absolute badass and down to fight

*ENDWALKER SPOLIERS!!!!* . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The fact that the Dragons lost both their homeworld of the dragon star to Omega and his kin and the fact that the first brood was subject to the same strife as their ancestors is saddening.

I just did the Endwalker magic dps role quests and I noticed that each one was named after the lyrics during the dragoon bit of the song, it's the little touches.

As much as I love Heavensward, they completely snubbed Machinist, Astrologist and Dark Knight in the FMV intro. I would have loved to have seen them get some screen time.

As much as I love Sokens OSTs for this game, Uematsu is still a step above imo. There is something classical about his music and I don't mean the music period with that, but more of a timelessness and overall quality to his songs.

They came.

Soken was so good delivering this, hope we get regeneration after the legend Uematsu

The lyrics and the melody are so hauntingly beautiful... The writing is exemplary. I'm not at all a fan of the vocalist (Omega Bone), though - or rather, of this recording she did. Not sure if it's how the recording was made, or if she's just trying too hard to sound operatic, but it comes out sounding remarkably like an Ixal. I'm certain I'm gonna get hate for this. Just please remember that I'm not judging you for liking the vocalist's efforts, so common courtesy allows me my opinion as well. "Answers" and "Dragonsong" (both performed by Susan Calloway), on the other hand, were 100% gorgeous.
