Very interesting - thanks- Just not sure of the application - would you weld the hinge pieces onto the corner of an, eg post ?

You will need to thicken those tabs up if you intend to mount that onto the corner of something.

Build a pivot hinge.

Overkill. Weld a plate to the pipe. You don't need to cut the pipe.
