OMG my heart goes out to everyone involved this is so devastating, our town of Grand Forks has still not fully recovered from the 2018 flooding & hoping everyone stays safe.
My heart just goes out to everyone. In 1993, my state of Iowa had terrible flooding. We got three feet of water in our basement, tipping our chest freezer over and we lost all of the meat, frozen food in it. So many personal things were lost. There was a drain but it couldn’t keep up with the incoming water. Flooding is horrendous but so is fire which many have experienced. No matter where we are, there is something to cause misery.

So touching yet so heartbreaking at the same time. Were in isolation due to a covid positive case, but if we were not in isolation id offer my home to anyone needed a place to stay. I have 2 rooms one with a bunk bed that could be occupied for the time being once were out of isolation tomorrow.
Least it's a beautiful place to live, oops I think I said that! We'll least English is the language of business! 🎶 I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so! 🎶
I would've thought that with so many years of experience the government be doing more with prevention and the civilians be prepared for the very worst possible situation ? what is going on?
If you know your city is in a flood plain, then the city should've engineered a solution to drain out that water before it becomes a serious problem for residents. This is bad planning, for a small investment you'd save millions or billions in damages after.
Yup, building homes on flood plains is dumb if you don't have any way to manage the water. No thinking is involved but its just easier to blame climate change. Instead of spending money to fix these issues.
I'd like to know where you two armchair engineers live??? Many of the areas flooded in this storm have never flooded before and are well established communities! Many areas have done flood assessments and taken steps to remedy flooding and still it was not enough! This was a record weather event resulting in never before seen amounts of rainfall! No one experiencing this event doubts the influence of Climate Change and only idiots would deny it!
I'm very, very, very sorry to see this, I donated $10 for to help. I have been on Vancouver Island myself, seen Comox, Courtenay and Victoria. These beautiful places getting destroyed makes me teary eyed. Last time, I seen BC, I know it wasn't getting destroyed.
I’m not sure what you’re referring to? There’s been no talk of lack of funding or resources. No matter what federal government is in place… you can’t control nature at this scale
No offense to the BC NDP ... but, maybe the voters will want that NDP-Green alliance back. This huge flood (and last week's waterspout near Vancouver) is related to climate change ... so, now BC might have an appetite for more focused climate change fighters in Victoria.
@@Chahlie The rains and the resulting flooding and mudslides are UNPRECEDENTED!!! It has become international news with the BBC, Al Jazzera, Reuters and many others picking it up!!!
Supplies will not be coming in and going out to eastern canada either. They blocked the railways due to flooding, and ships cannot get their supplies on or off the trains. The shelves are empty in Abbotsford.
This hiding away of supplies seems to be happening all over. ALL OF A SUDDEN. I suspect sobatage. I cannot think why more jobs are available, infrastructure is there, and now a backlog?? Are all truckers dead?
Can't wait for summer when everything is burning again. This summer saw an all-time high temperature that exceeded the all-time high for half the countries in Africa. I'm planning a trip to Egypt in July to cool off.
I come from the prairies and lived in Vancouver for some years. I was often irritated because what they called a rainstorm, we would have called a shower in Alberta. I said "You don't know what rain is." Well, now they do, and then some. I would not have wished that they would learn it this way, though. Best of luck to everyone in the affected areas.
Hi Can you do a flight over the part of the highway where the emergency block dike dam is being built to damming off the highway area that is flooded and fly down to 500 feet or lower, as you can do that now as there are no persons below to getting an accurate works assessment to that program to sorting out as to how long it will take to open the highway. And of course post it ASAP, Chilliwack has run out of FOOD AND FUEL!
Time to hunker down and take care of the neighborhood, far up as Qualicoom. Can always get off at Port Hardy though. But pandemic just stay home and be careful. Death toll not high I hope. Restricted travel as well in Northern Thailand.🤠
