In this video I show the difference between the Heavy Grips and Captains of Crush, all this is due to Jujimufu and his grip strength videos.

I have three Heavy Grip grippers (150, 200 and 250) and three Captains of Crush (1.5, 2.5 and 3) and the differences are more of a qualitative nature. My HG grippers are already worn out and no longer work, as you have to use much less force than originally. In addition, the movement is much shorter with the HG, so you train the muscles considerably less. I don't know yet whether the Captains of Crush last longer, as I've only had them for a short time, but they definitely feel better quality than the HGs. My favorite, however, is the GD IRON GRIP 90, which in my opinion is by far the best gripper you can buy. It doesn't make any noise, you have to use the same amount of force throughout the whole movement and it lasts much longer. In addition, the distance is wider than the other two (there are three different distances you can set), so I can train better with my large hands.

I started with Heavy Grips. After hearing about CoC I gave it a try and noticed the difference. I’ve had enough practice and can confidently say the CoC is harder

I decided to look up recent Captains of Crush videos. That was a valiant effort with the #2! I was anxiously awaiting to see once you had easily closed the Heavy Gripper, rated heavier. I was thinking, there's no way this "average" guy was just going to close a #2, haha. I wish grip trainer manufacturers had a standard for force to close. When initially researching these, I saw the grip community recognizing CoC, so I just went with those. I first bought T and #1, where I could only close #1 a couple times. I've been able to open/close, full range of motion, the #2 for ten reps on my right hand. With inconsistent training, I'm down to three reps, currently. Good luck on your grip training, and thanks for the video.

I've been using CoC grippers on and off for a few years. At one point, I could close CoC 2 for four reps. Alas, I took an extended break from training. I'm back, but I can only cost a CoC 1.5 for 3-4 reps. I decided to get a six-pack set of HG, 100-350. There is definitely no comparison to CoC. I can do multiple reps with the HG 150. Yet I can not fully close the HG 200, even for a single rep. Seems to be a QA issue with HG. I'll keep the HGs and use them to stay warm in between grip days. 😂

I can squeeze a HG200 like nothing. But a CoC 2 is like trying to do a HG250.

HG 200 is like coc 1.5 HG 250 is like coc 2

I have them both and this is 100% accurate. I started with HG and see now CoC is better and more true to weight.

#2 is more around an HG250

They aren’t identical, the nurling is much worse on the heavy grips, the handle is thinner making it harder, and the vary to much in rgc

I would get a COC 1.5.

Trust me they are not the same. Heavy grips is good to get start but the COCs are built to last generations.

There are a few problems with your video - not your fault. 1) The ratings on the Heavy Grips are relative to each other, but the 100 and 200 do not mean 100 lbs and 200 lbs. This means that the 200 is not necessarily 5 lbs heavier than the Captains of Crush #2. I have almost closed an HG 200 and it is fairly close to a Captains of Crush #1. Also, I have four HG 150s , three of them are fairly close to each other, but I can do reasonable reps with one, low reps with another, barely 1 rep on the third and the fourth one is actually harder to close than even a Captains of Crush #1. This shows that the HG markings are not poundage markings, nor are they consistent with one another. The heaviest HG150 I have came from a set of 100-300 which are all massively stiffer and harder to close than the same ratings from another set. 2) the numbers on Captains of Crush packets are Ironmind's own suggested ratings and they don't correspond to the rating you get when using a rating machine. Comparing the CoC with other rated grippers (such as the suggested recently recalibrated loads for the Ivanko Super Gripper) suggests that the packet ratings don't compare to the same load on the other gripper - however, the ISG does have a different feel to it and a different sweep, so comparisons aren't going to be exact. 3) I have had Heavy Grips where the handle worked loose over time, but most of them are fairly sturdy and I have had them and used them for years. Final thought, everyone says that the handle spread is different, but my HGs are visually identical in width to my Captains of Crush (one of these is very old, the others are fairly new, so it can't be a change in the CoCs over time.)

Everything I read said that HG200 was about equal to a #1.5. But a friend of mine has a 200lb off-brand that I suspect has the same coil and rating as a Heavy Grip. I was surprised to find that I was the same tiny sliver away from closing it that I am on my C0C #1.

HG was always crap a few years ago. Zero consistancy in the springs, poorly manifactured shit. Did it change?😂

For example, if you bought two HG400, one was like a COC#1,5 and the other was like a coc#3. Real poor quality and resistance consistency
