It's interesting I discovered the different driving styles. In my personal case, I always try to stay at 1500rpm as much as possible during travel on the highway, and reach 2000rpm to make a gear change. My average speed is 70km/h, this allows me to use the Jake brake more effectively and the engine does not jump beyond 2000rpm during downshifts when slowing down. But it's just a personal comment, we all have a unique and efficient style for ourselves 🖖😎🖖

Im actually wondering if anyone that actually takes these simulators learned how to physically drive an 18 wheeler real life. As far as i know simulators are highly used for pilot training which makes sense but i feel this should be the future even for shit drivers etc lol

@FedorBrickTop that's very strange.. Have you installed Fanalabs as well? If not, do that and before you jump in a game, choose the recommended settings for that game. The ffb should jump directly to 100%

People wonder why I still play ATS even though my real life job is also trucking, but ATS captures all the good parts of trucking without the bad parts, including flying by a scale at full speed while honking :D Also, I know it's an old video but please stop revving over 1600RPM, I know ATS only simulates horsepower not torque but, please, you're killing me inside

I should add that, you might've heard real trucks rev over 1600RPM in real life but that's largely due to "automatic" transmissions being poorly designed and sticking to gears instead of shifting properly, the new Freightliner Cascadia DT12 for example, if you floor it after a stop sign, it'll hang onto the 1st gear at 2,200RPM for 1 or 2 full seconds before shifting (using the jake) to 5th gear or something stupid. It's not the driver intentionally revving high, it's the driver being pissed off at that piece of junk he's forced to drive, lol The real torque powerband (which is what makes you move at full load) is between 1,300-1,600RPM which is why 18-gear transmission have a spacing of 200RPM.
