Heavy Rotation #90 The Art Of Upgrading Vinyl 

It's nice to see a heavy rotation where I could say' "Hey, I have that album! Not that pressing, but that album!" instead of "What is that?"

"I hadn't listened to it in so long I couldn't remember what it sounded like...." the problem I've run into when I buy more records than I can "absorb." This is why I'm taking a break from buying vinyl for a while and taking time to appreciate all the gems I already have in my collection. Thanks for another great video Sir Dillion! There's still so much psych music out there I don't have or haven't even heard of, but do I really need all of it? Been going back to the classics lately. That French one was really cool. Collector goals: find all promo only copies.

Nice work and I am also regularly upgrading. But don't to as much being that I'm not looking at multiple collections a day lol. But it's also nice to get a record knowing you'll make some money back selling the downgrade.

The terminology surrounding music formats has always fascinated me. Specifically, I've often wondered why people insist on saying 'vinyl records' when, in fact, the correct term is simply 'records.' The addition of 'vinyl' seems redundant, as if clarifying the material composition of the medium is necessary. But when did this linguistic trend begin? Was it a marketing ploy to distinguish analog from digital formats? Whatever the reason, I find it quite curious that we've adopted this phraseology. For me, it's simply a record - a timeless vessel for music that transcends the need for extraneous descriptors.

I am desperate to find a copy of that Marty Robbins record! I can find just about all his other stuff here in TN, but not that one. Feels like it should be findable in the wild here but it’s driving me nuts looking for it! I should add: your videos always motivate me to keep digging and finding the bargains that bring me pleasure, even if I’m not buying anything even vaguely in your league!

Another great bunch of records dude. Your videos are always good viewing. I was sorting through my collection and came across some British stoner/doom albums from Electric Wizard and realised this band doesn't get mentioned much on RU-vid music channels. The music is for fans of Sabbath, Sleep, Hawkwind, and all that early 70s hard rock and psych. All Electric Wizard stuff is worth checking out.

We were looking for a copy of that Marty Robbins record when we were at the store!

Hi Dillon really enjoyed this video thank you - particularly the way you showcased some less valuable records which nonetheless bring joy if they are in beautiful time capsule condition. I recently stumbled upon three near-mint original Peter Paul and Mary albums on the green WB label, 60s pressings and damn near unplayed. Paid a fiver each for them in a charity shop and that’s all they’re worth (actually there’s a live double ‘In Concert’ among them that’s worth a bit more) but that’s not the point. The point is they transport me back in to an era when people protested using beautiful vocal harmonies, not online trolling! Best wishes and greetings from London.

Stunners galore. I found the Van Der Graaf Generator WLP to be particularly cool. UK band, but that did not originally come out in their home country. I admit the Marty Robbins album makes me think of Fallout: New Vegas. I wonder if that contributed to its "rediscovery." I picture that stereo six-eye WLP sounds incredible. Kings Of Oblivion is a great album. Obviously the Odessey & Oracle with the timing strip must be the one you keep.

Upgrading used to be easier to do but with Values and in certain categories (OG Jazz, African records etc) it feels like the gravy train is kind of over. I dunno if you see that Dillon but it is starting to feel that way to me. Great stuff as always. Tree

I've got a lot of OGs. I buy remasters if the OG can't be bought for a reasonable amount. The De la soul reissue is cool. I'm fully aware reissues have been remastered for modern tastes. Some vinyl is better than no vinyl.

Hey Dillon! Was just thinking about upgrades and what to do when I find an upgrade or find the full album after previously buying two or three singles from the album. Decisions, Decisions. Please make a video on cleaners. Would love to see your high powered cleaner but would also be interested in your thoughts on a range of cleaners from cheaper (~$100), mid range (~$100 to $500) and high range (above $500). Thank you for your wisdom and knowledge!

Dillion, You really need to address your web page. When you click on the vinyl page, only half of what is there shows up. It cuts off half the albums as well not showing everything offered. Great as always! Since cds became a thing ....ok shoot me now!....I rarely buy rough vinyl of a 'must have' but hunt down the cd until I find a playable record. It also has the advantage of hearing something enough to know you wouldn't want to spend £100 plus on the vinyl because the content 'ain't that great'......the old rarity value far out weighing the music conundrum. Latest top find, the second album from Toad, Tomorrow Blue on the original lab. 1972 release. Trust me, it is within a whisker of their debut as killer. There is a Akarma re issue out there.

Dillon, I’m confused on the nuances of why you say Underground Fire will be the first release on the Noble label.. obviously you’ve sold a good number of other titles on limited repress.. does it have to do with the specifics on the way licensing worked, like on the previous titles Noble was the exclusive distributor but not the actual label or something like that??
