It is also in limited use in a german law enforcement role: The german customs boats mount one for warning shots in the case of intercepting smugglers (never heard of the actually using one) and the armored vehicles employed by the federal police for airport security can mount them.
Thanks! I would've love to seeing this gun built in a new cartridge in 6.8x51, 6.5 creedmoor or even in 6 creedmoor. I think the E guns still had lots of life in the design, and was way ahead of the times, but I understand time to move on with the new HK MG5/121.
WOW!! As a passive H&K fan, I never knew about this variant of the HK21... Very interesting setup. I like that it has the upper receiver reinforcing bars and the forward assist carried over from the HK PSG/MSG 1. It'd be interesting to see what this thing is capable of for accuracy with the appropriate optic. Seems like a very capable, all around weapon that is very good at a lot of things, though maybe not great at any of them... If money and the legal aspect were not a roadblock, I'd have a hard time choosing between the G8 and a DMR variant of the MR417/MR762 with the steel upper receiver, accurized 20" barrel and the tuned trigger group.
What is interesting - this MG belt-fed version allows fast AR-like reload. You pull the loading handle, hold the MG with 1 hand, open the storage, grab the wedged belt with another hand and push the wedge into the port till it clicks, then put the remaining part of the belt into storage. Then close the storage, do HK slap and voila, you have new belt in.
Hi herd so much good things about g3 and g21, from my veteran father, that fought in Africa for Portugal, that only now I can fully understand, at the time I joke with Him saying that the G3 an G21 were old...., well he was 100 correct, for change 😂😂😂.Wherever he is I hope to meet him again.
I’m not sure what you are referring to. In the late 70s, a variant of the HK23 was provided for the SAW trials. It lost out to the FN Minimi due to cost. In the late 80s, the MSG90 was provided to the Marine Corps as a specialist rifle, but again was not selected due to cost.
