There is a huge deal of Misinformation out there as to what we can own in the UK. We can't own modern handguns (Glocks etc...) without a section 5 licence but you can own a black powder revolver on a section1 or a Semi-Auto MP5 in .22LR. You can also own a straight-pull 7.62x39 AK47 or a .223 AR15 perfectly legally on a Section1. You can also legally own and shoot a .50 Barrett M95 bolt action rifle if you're at the right range..... but not a modern 9mm handgun!
How did he get his hands on a semi auto 5.56 then? And what part of a section 5 allows modern handguns? To my knowledge a you need a sec 7.1 or 7.3 FAC, but it's still restricted.
Bacon Sauce You can't, not a semi-auto .223 anyway. You can buy a straight pull AR15 as long as you have a Section1 FAC. I'm not a fan of straight pull, it's just not the same, and it effectively turns your gun into a bolt action rifle.....
You can also get ones with the straight pull being activated by your thumb, forgot the name. Or pump action rifles which remington makes, or lever guns. I'm still curious as to how they fired these guns.
Bacon Sauce I work at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, and due to our organisation having a Section 5 licence I've been fortunate enough, on rare occasions, to fire some items full auto. (Mainly for testing/training/forensics etc....) I'm guessing these guys have a similar licence.
The above video made me cry. I lived in the UK from 1974 - 2014 and witnessed the shameful destruction of the British Shooting Sport first hand. I now live in Arizona, USA where ALL the above is open to the millions of like-minded shooters who follow their sport every single day. Long may it continue. Thank you USA!
