Turned into Sonic real quick, 1st attempt to touch with bare hands..rings flying everywhere.

I was hurt to see it drowning, especially when it curled into a ball and was under water, Man I’m glad it did not drown.

For me personally. I’d be too panicked about it drowning to even remember that my phone exists.

When he curled up in the ball you could see the air bubbles come up as he was starting to hold his breath. Good save. The hedgehog is so doggone cute and adorable.

Breaks my heart to see how helpless animals are in pools.

I saved a squirrel from our hot tub once and I was scared to death when it ran up the branch I found and stared into my eyes. I felt gratitude from the little creature even if it was imagined.

It’s great they saved them, but they really should have taken their dog away and left to allow the little guy to rest and regain his strength without excessive fear, fear would only hinder them from resting properly.

Just take you’re time. I can’t believe you saw an hedgehog struggling in the pool and the first thing you thought of was to grab your phone and record yourself doing a good deed. Aren’t you amazing!

She could have used both hands right at the start. The hedgehog could have drowned in the extra time she needed to grab something she could operate with one hand while keeping her camera phone in the other hand. But making a video was more important than saving an animal's life. Makes me sad.

Small suggestion, when ever we built a swimming pool or open water storage places we must built atleast 3 slope ways, if something falls in,it will come out easly😊

For anyone out there who may come across a hedgehog that is struggling or has struggled to get out of water. If you have a pond/pool etc leave a ramp for them to get out. If you have a pond build a smaller pond attached to it, one that goes shallow to deeper (not deeper than them) it helps them get water, while at the same time realise the depth is changing. Please though leave a ramp for them to get out.

Nothing says heroic quite like finding a drowning hedgehog, going back to grab your phone and then instead of putting down the phone to try and use both hands to reduce pain, going to get a fucking shovel to scoop it out. The need for validation is strong in this one

Hedgehogs are pretty helpless lil' critters. Sometimes, they just need a helping hand. Always be one who offers to help. Who knows? Someday, you might be the hedgehog.

One day I saw a dead young hedgehog in my pond. It's unusual to find one drowned. It's been about 5 years since I last saw a drowned hedgehog. Then the next day there was another dead young one in the pond. 2 days in a row, which is extremely unusual. I couldn't stop thinking they were brother or sister of the one which died the day before, and he was looking for him. It made me so sad. I attached a board by the pond so if any hedgehog gets in the pond could possibly walk out on it. They are very adorable creature.

Why does she act as if those spines are sharp? Last year we found baby hedgehogs in our backyard. They were just a day or two old. The mom was probably out looking for food but the next day we had contractors coming over to do work in the backyard so we called animal protection for advice. They said the mom wouldn't come back anymore because the nest was disturbed so they came to collect the babies and bring them to a special sanctuary. However, the following morning momma hedgehog was running around in the backyard, looking for her babies. I went out and managed to get her. I gently picked her up with my bare hands and it didn't hurt at all. Anyhow, we called animal protection again to let them know we had momma hedgehog and if they could come and pick her up and reunite her with her babies. So they came and they said they were surprised she came back. They still had the babies in the animal shelter and were scheduled to take them to the sanctuary later that morning. They still went there but momma hedgehog went with them. They stayed there untill the babies were old enough to be released into the wild again. They were so cute! I had never seen baby hedgehogs before!
