That's me playing guitar with John in this clip. It was at Amoeba records in Hollywood for the release of the compilation C.D Wig in a Box. I met John through my old band, The Breeders. He asked if I'd acompany him on a song called "Two Headed Boy" by Neautral Milk Hotel which we did before this song. Origin of Love was not planned, but I learned it that morning just in case. We tried it back stage and he decided to do it. I'm so glad that there is a document of it.
'Origin of Love' might be the most important song I'll ever listen in my entire life. I was watching John's performances of this song, in concerts and all kind of venues., and I came across this one. I don't know why, but this especially touched something deep inside me. I mean, this song means so much to me and I normally get emotional when I listen to it, especially when it is John who's singing it , but this performance specifically really overwelmed me, I can't even express how much so. I was overwelmed with just how much I love John Cameron Mitchell, too, I just adore this incredible man, this kind and beautiful soul. I've never met him and perhaps I never will, but he is just so dear to my heart.
i feel nice and sweet finding out that many persons around the world adore this song, this singer, and that i'm not alone each time i cry for it.the video is awesome thanks to who ever posted it...
I was like 8 months old when this video was recorded, yet after seeing the movie, I'm almost tearing up because of this song. It's just so beautiful and also very sad. I wish I lived in the US so I could see the Musical in Broadway. :')
we played this song from the movie at our wedding. we got married in a theater. we actually showed it on the big screen. my uncle came down the aisle and said.."is that a man?" then he laughed when we said yes. an older aunt said she loved the videos we played except for the woman...lol
lol It's amazing how much he looks like Hedwig, even without the wigs, make-up, etc. You can still see it, plain as day, shining through. Wonderful song and performer. Thanks for the upload :)
Super awesome to see this! I was one of the Hedwigs performing in "Rainbow Carnage", the 1st Hedwig shadowcast, located in Los Angeles, at this time. I am Joshwig, and the other Hedwig, Dudley, and I performed at this event in an adaptation of "Wig In A Box", and then introduced JCM. I've never seen this. I wish there was footage of our performance too, but this was awesome to see! Thank you BrianBubonic!
