Speedy Tutl actually did Toto for my field show... I had a horn part for Hold the Line and Africa because what's a bass clarinet? This is marching band.
Haha it might have been more than one take to get that right... but yeah it's certainly possible! Check out "Secrets of the Castle" from Prisoner of Azkaban if you want to hear some INSANE flute playing
Oh I love the bass clarinet soli!! I love hearing you play bass, I want to sound just like you one day! I play it for my high school and I was one of the 5 sophomores to make wind my sophomore year.
You're living my dream... Maybe someday I'll have enough time (and money😂) to learn other instruments. I just play the flute but I really want to learn the oboe and the piccolo.
Double reed is pretty difficult. Try out a single read instrument. Clarinet would be a good start before the oboe. But you would have to learn a new key. I don't know about you but learning a new key isn't that hard because if it's the same clef you should be fine. I learned Flute and Alto Sax notes really easily because it was still treble clef even if clarinet is my main instrument. The only thing difficult is the new mouthpiece and fingerings. Other than that Clarinet is a good start to the reed family. If you want to still try oboe first, that's fine too, do whatever makes you happy. I recommend buying an oboe reed first to practice on getting a sound out. Alright sorry if this was long but I love giving advice about music lol
lalas best Don’t listen to them. Oboe is a way more easy switch when you’re switching from flute to oboe. The fingerings are quite similar, and both instruments play in the same key. Yes changing to a reed instrument in general will have its challenges at first, but you’ll get the hang of it. If you want to play oboe, I highly recommend. It’s a difficult but rewarding instrument! You’ll love it! Also, for piccolo. Just make sure you by some earplugs with it ;) Don’t wanna mess up your ears!
Yes you finally got a bassoon everyone in my school band wanted you to get one so that you could actually say that you had all woodwind Instruments because our band has all of them
Honestly you inspire me so much. I’ve been playing the flute for 6 years, and started playing piccolo this summer. Now I’m learning clarinet on my dad’s old one from high school. I aspire to be like you one day ❤️
The oboe has 3 octaves of Bb (that’s the lowest note) and then (realistically) goes up to the F above that Bb, but can go up to an A. I’m not entirely sure if it can go higher than that. But I hope this helps a little
Thank you Thank You Thank you!!! I am doing a Woodwind Family unit during this continuous-ed-virtual-music-class-shut-down-schools-covid-era and THIS VIDEO is perfect to have my students watch on their devices!! THANK YOU!! You are fabulously talented by the way! NEVER STOP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!
This gave me chills, I love it! I played the clarinet in middle school so it's always so fun to see other people who actually stick with it and do amazingly well.
The fact you can play all of these instruments is already impressive enough, but the excellency with which you command them is just insane! Keep up the great work Josh!
Silverwarriorin cmon at least do oboe and bassoon. Not just oboes, that’s like saying do an alto sax only piece when it would be cooler imo to have tenor and Bari in the mix too
First off, I just want to let you know you are amazing! You made me realize that the bass clarinet (which I play) is actually pretty important. More than I thought. Again, you are an amazing player❤️❤️❤️
I’m sorry not to speak English fluently… I’m a Japanese. I played oboe when I was high school student in Japan.so I love woodwind ensemble. When I was looking for a wood ensemble video,I found this video by chance. Your performance is very nice!!! The tone of every instrument is very beautiful and the arrangement of the songs was great!! I also listened your another video,”This is Halloween”,that was also wonderful!! I love both videos! I hear these repeatedly. I admire that you can play various instruments, flute, oboe, basson, saxophone, and clarinet! I was surprised! I’m looking forward to your next video. Thank you for wonderful performance!!
@@JoshPlotner Thank you for your reply! I think you are a good Japanese speaker😄 Keep it up!! I'm on your side. I’m looking forward to your new song. 返信ありがとうございます!!日本語お上手ですね😄 これからも頑張ってください!応援しています。次の曲を楽しみにしています
