But in general it's good production very entertaining, and Bhansali just cashed out name of Heeramandi.

Well they did live a luxurious life, the tawaifs of Heeramandi weren't prø/situates but were dancers , singers and pure artists, they were given very much respect and wealth from nawabs to dance in there courts, nawabs even sent their young children to them to learn etiquettes, how to behave socially, dance, and other art forms , infact people would call it the "shahi mohalla" then considering how many royals visited that place and how much of a luxurious and royal life these courtesans lived but after the arrival of the British in India they made Heeramandi a red light area to satisfy their soldiers, and started paying them for the one night st@nds, they destroyed the essence of these tawaifs, many of them didn't have any other choice, stayed there and became the prø/stitutes of Heeramandi while the others who were wealthy, fleed to Bombay, and that's how we got the early Hindi cinema actresses, many of the early bollywood actresses were tawaifs , even nargis' mother, and these tawaifs took part in the freedom struggle too, their luxury was used in the freedom struggle of India against The British

@@kfie3731 SLB is not wrong here, he wanted to show us how their life was before the Britishers arrived and how they affected the courtesans of Heeramandi, these 2 events took decades and gradually occurred but that couldn't be included in a film, he wanted to give us a peek into the life of a few main characters and their life journey in Heeramandi, and this wouldn't have happened in any other way, he did a pretty good job , like he always does in his period movies, there's no fantasy or fiction, the women actually suffered a lot and their life went upside down after the arrival of the british in India, he wasn't present there to see their hardships or something so as a filmmaker he could've exaggerated a bit but still a flawless creation with just one flaw, which is Alam's acting

@@aaradhya7779 well I'm a lahori. I know what heeramandi is like. I understand film world is different yet a different time period would have made this series less of a fantasy. Fantasy part is right the Urdu in Lahore doesn't make sense. Also Urdu that is spoken so badly. There are many things that are inaccurate like the case with all his movies. He is far removed from history - his version of history is the history of a Hindu supremacist. However all of this essential for creation of a nationalistic discourse one of the aims of popular cinema.

They were highly successful and respected. But the Britishers ruined their image as they (the tawaifs) were against them (the Britishers). Tawaifs contributed in Bhārat’s freedom but sadly‚ idiots like you see them as sex workers and not freedom fighters. Learn real history.

Maybe it was added for the movie since it is a movie right, the costumes have to be somewhat attractive in different ways. So the designer of the movie thought of adding sequins but making the patterns from the olden days as she said (just assuming)
