i cut my bakers fondant with a electric reciprocating saw, then bag it into plastic bags,brood foundation bags,then take it to the apiary,simple cut the bags with knife to access.
Canada gets a LITTLE more snow than the UK heheh (well over a meter last time I went to the apiary). I really wish I had your kind of weather :) Fed my hives some fondant in mid January. Came back a month later and they had barely touched it. I did insulate all the hives very heavily (a single Langstroth deep with a blanket for the sides, a mirror bubblewrap inner cover with a hole for access, the top insulation has 6 inches of foam for R60 insulation. The whole thing is capped with a mirror bubble wrap "beanie." The top Insulation/feeder consists of a box the size of a medium with 3 two inch layers: The fist one has a removable insert that can be used for feeding fondant (supported on a hardware cloth grid) topped by 2 more foam plates. I based the design on what a Yukon beekeeper uses. It has proven extremely effective so far: 15/15 hives alive with only 1 showing signs of weakness :)
