No. God created them good1 and in his own image,2 that is, in true righteousness and holiness,3 so that they might truly know God their creator,4 love him with all their heart, and live with God in eternal happiness, to praise and glorify him.5 1 Gen. 1:31 2 Gen. 1:26-27 3 Eph. 4:24 4 Col. 3:10 5 Ps. 8 Q & A 7 Q. That's it? That's all you've got? Adam and Eve's sin led to our corruption... because God decreed that it would so lead. In other words our corruption is by God's doing.
God permitted it to happen, He didn't decree it. This is a Reformed channel not a Calvinist one, Calvinists believe God decrees everything that comes to pass, while us Reformed believe God allows but also decrees with whar Scripture clear states, us Reformes put the responsibility on man read the Second Helvetic Confession written by Heinrich Bullinger.
@@reformedcatholic457 My apologies: I phrased it badly. I didn't mean to say Adam and Eve's actions happened by God's decree. Let's agree that they freely chose to act as they did. My point was that their actions triggered a series of results. These results included things like (original) sin, death, and general human depravity. The question is: WHY did these specific results follow from their actions? The only answer I can think of is that when God created the world, He set things up in such a way that if Adam and Eve chose certain actions, these results would inevitably be triggered. He could have pre-specified any results he wished, but HE DECIDED the results would be sin, death, and depravity unto all generations. That's what I meant by saying that human depravity is by God's decree. Yes, he chose to make it dependent on Adam and Eve's actions. And yes, if He's not very good at foreseeing the future, He may have been surprised by their choice. But the whole wondrous business, including what would happen if Adam and Eve chose wrong, was BY GOD'S DESIGN. That was the point of my original comment. ------ (Incidentally I've read the Second Helvetic Confession, at your instigation, and we even exchanged notes about it. But on my analysis it failed to resolve the questions being raised here.)
