4 Color press allows you to print 4 colours at once on one side of the sheet. A 12 colour press will usually be 6/6 perfecting, so it could lay down 4 colour CMYK + 2 spot Colour or a varnish, then turn the page over and do the same, so the sheet coming off the press has been printed with up to 6 colours on both sides.
maquinas de una calidad de impresion saber manejarlas es lo mas facil con una induccion desde que uno sea prensista de calidad.toda la impresion queda bien con un solo tono.
It is true. Although a press requires a certain number of sheets to stabilize the ink/water balance (usually about 150 sheets), we were able to achieve sellable color within 60 sheets. Of course "sellable" is subjective to the user, but we made these tests with some Heidelberg users, many of whom achieve even better results, especially6 when switching between jobs of approximately the same ink coverage. If you are running a late model Heidelberg press you should be doing about the same.
To further clarify, a 12 color press is usually configured so that it prints 5 colors and a coating on each side of the sheet in a single pass. This is known as perfecting..
Also, I think what Mathew said about the SPH, is sort of true, it's not like the colour would be an issue, it's the quality of the material that would lead you into trouble at higher speeds. I say this, because i've printed on material that came out more bent than a train wreck.
socio el problema no es manejarla el problema es saberla manejar y sacarle el mayor provecho y saber utilizar todas las herramientas que te van a facilitar el trabajo y llegar ala calida deseada
I work on an older sm-52, so maybe it has more difficulties reaching stability in a faster time. Thing is, I dont believe that you can match that kind of stability over longer period of time, or even throughout the week of working on it. And I think that 150 sheets is being a bit optimistic ;) Maybe when working on jobs that have similar ink coverage, like you said.
Having gone through the "finger printing" of a 74 I'll tell you it's possible to get color within 60 sheets. The question is whether it's the color you want. I had more problems from Art dept. than with the press or prinect. Bear in mind you're looking at a brand new showroom press with every setting optimized and a color reader. Things tend to get a little dirtier in most press rooms I've been in.
The number of colors indicates how many separate printing heads in 1 pass. It can be either 1 or 2 sides. A 12 color prints 6 separate images on both sides at a time called perfecting. so the difference is how many print heads there are. It has nothing to do with the actual colors printed.
I can't seem to get a sellable color within 60 sheets, it always tends to be more. Maybe it's because the machine isn't brand new ? Is there a way to minimize the use of large number of sheets to get the required color?
+MicroGFX I am no longer with Heidelberg USA, but I was the product manager responsible for a service called PCM - Print Color Management. That is the service you need. Contact your Heidelberg sales person and tell them that Jim Mauro sent you. It will work!
