It's interesting hearing the truth about the show from their perspective. They both seem a lot more respectable and intelligent than how they were perceived.
***** honestly i watched the shows back then, and they were AWFUL. i hated them, i thought they were the worst ever. It was really spencer driving the crazy train and he brought heidi down with him, when she got all the surgeries they just looked insane. but im glad they grew up and they seem to be growing a good head on their shoulders. good for them
Yeah the production value was so good that just logistically there was no way these could be organic dramas and plot lines. Someone would make a phone call and there would be a camera and makeup and lighting completely ready for the person on the other end of the phone. I would point this stuff out to my girlfriend, sister some friends and some of them would get mad at me for forcing them out of there illusion... You just had to really think about the logistics to realize how fake it was. Not to mention the fact that they had her working as an intern when she was getting paid in millions of dollars by MTV. Makes no sense, that was clearly a paid product placement buy a magazine and a manufactured set designed to give them a place to create the illusion of an actual internship.
I'm actually really happy for them (and they seem more down-to-earth here) because I didn't think this would last the way they were all portrayed on the show. I have to commend them for still being together as a young couple in this day in time when so many treat marriage and people like recyclable materials.
When the show first aired I did not think that they would last, and I thought that their relationship was fake, but after seeing them still together, and the way that they look at each other, and support each other, their love was I guess the only thing that was real about the show. Hmmmmmmmm
Claire Rodgers i mean like they said it was pretty real at first. The hills of im not mistaken was like a spin off from laguna beach other something like that.
***** I mean you're probably right, I've always questioned whether or not he is a nice guy, he is probably just acting nice in this video and only doing it for the cameras but then again the hills was a fake show. Lmao
Her Random Asmr hes actually not evil. its an act he puts on for tv but in reality him ans hedi are in deep love and they take care of each other. Spencer is an actor and he's found that he make A a good bad guy.
I am not surprised. There are too many evidences that he is a really good dude in real life. I am convinced when his being a jerk, it is his on air persona. I really like these two ...
My husband partied with these girls in real life when it the show first started, he said the exact same thing they would encourage them to do things to antagonize & create drama, the producers would give them incentives with Coach bags things like that, and it was all staged its not reality at all
Wow, I never thought that Heidi Montag was beautiful but here she is truly beautiful. Goes to show that you have to obviously have the canvas but what shines through form your inner maturity and depth makes you even more beautiful. Kodos to her and Spencer for getting it together and becoming mature.
Yeah and she even bitched about it for 30 seconds straight with Audrina and Kristen on Very Cavallari.. I think some of the drama was faked and created for entertainment but most of it was real like Audrina still believing Lauren had hooked up with Justin Bobby lmao
That’s not even the right scene lol. He kicks her out the car when he keeps asking her to move in with him and she tells him her answer is NO and he says well my answer is get out of my car !! LOL .. just watched it recently 🤷🏻♀️
I’ve been binge watching the hills during quarantine and the scene that they’re talking about her thinking she’s pregnant and him kicking her out of the car are two completely different scenes...
Ender Romero I feel the same way Ender,I like them more now that they explained things, because I did think Heidi was a tool, and Spencer was an asshole...who really knows for sure, but I'm glad to hear them explain a bit....the really sad part though,is that I didn't know it was fake : /
It's hilarious that none of you guys knew it was scripted. LA CANDY was written by Lauren Conrad and the whole plot was about three girls and a reality show, which was scripted.
It was a mix of being scripted and their real lives. Alot of the relationships and friendships were real; the drama was just amped up and sensationalized for ratings.
I feel really bad for Heidi and Spencer for all the hate they've received over the years. They both seem like nice people who just want to survive like the rest of us.
Maybe but it's fake babe sorry to burst your bubble. Watching it personally it seems more of a TV show not a reality TV show. I even heard on the finale episode the cameras pulled away with them taking the set apart.
They were always the fakest thing about The Hills. The second Lauren left every real and raw human thing about it was gone and it wasn't the same. Of course they have nothing to do but talk about how pathetic they were 5 years ago now.
I felt like Lauren was portrayed as the innocent 'good girl' when really she was the one who mastermind the whole show to portray herself as a good girl and spidei as evil characters... She manipulated the whole show to bee seen as innocent and poor Spidi had to go along
Yeah totally .. I watched this one video on RU-vid and her and Audrina were saying mean things about another girl, that was wasn't very popular in regards to the show .. I'm like you'll put out anyone's light eh .. as long as you don't know you're being filmed .. kinda shady
She didn't mastermind anything... she was just a hot high school girl that predatory producers from MTV found in a wealthy town in California. And they directed the show, not Lauren.
First of all, Heidi and Spencer's part of The Hills was like a separate show. After Heidi's fit with Lauren, these two barely interacted with anyone on Lauren's side of the cast, so they can only speak for themselves (fair enough), not for the rest or for the whole show in general. Audrina has already said what was pretty obvious from when Laguna Beach started airing - that the show is "set up" in the sense that they need to know, at least in general, what would or could happen and when, because how else would they get the cameras where they needed them to get those stable shots? Seriously, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out! When the producers caught wind that people buy all the "drama" they simply started stirring it up on purpose, so that they didn't have to wait for something interesting to happen and instead almost got it "on demand". Simple as that.
CelestialJoJo Every single person from that show has said it was real before it went fake with 3rd and 4th season, when the Heidi and Spencer theme essentially took it over.
Dustie1984 well of course they did....why would they admit the show is fake when they were still on it?? that doesn't make sense... the show is fake as shit... if you cant see that, you are a dumbass
John cage Again, everyone admitted it was more-less real at first, but got fake afterwards. And they said this AFTER leaving the show, when they had no reason to lie or do "good PR" anymore.
John cage Do you understand people who actually were on the show explained otherwise? It was put together using real situations and staged ones. They used everyone's real lifes as a starting point and whatever they filmed they manipulated as they wished. Later on they paid the two above to DO exactly as they wished, so they wouldn't even need to edit or manipulate to create stories. I know this might sound a bit complex but that's how it was. As for Speidi their part of the show was almost a separate realm, because people didn't want to film with them.
Wow! Trying to sabotage a real wedding for ratings is low. Bad enough that contractually the had to allow it to be filmed and probably had ppl there that wouldn't have been otherwise.
Heidi looks a lot better now. Her nose still looks altered, but she now looks normal for the most part. Spencer seems pretty cool as well. ...Aww I miss the hills. Lol
you know.. surprisingly.. they actually seem to be a genuine, sweet couple. They lasted this long! Everyone used to think they were so fake & plastic back then. They're humbling now
Spencer was so money hungry...sad b/c now he is starving... Heidi looks better now, I was worried for her when she first showed all the work she had done!!
Is remember me of my xbf he use to love the hill he the one that got me to love this damn that was so long ago that funny I was carzzy with that show but I love Hindi and her man they cool ppl now they trying to have a kid now they battle than before
Caitlin Wagner I saw the look in Heidis eyes when she said that. Inside there is a frightened person who is scared of herself. I think she's emotionally damaged in many ways.
Shut up people often get surgery cause people talk mad shit about their looks when they are all natural people always got something to say natural ot no who gives a fuck of she's happy that's all that matters
Nothing will bring ya back to reality faster than a big ol slice of humble pie. They seem to be adjusted to the normal life again. I give them credit, going from rags to riches would be cool, going from riches to rags would really suck
I think the entire time these two were on the show they were playing it up for the camera. they understood what made good TV and they play along with it even if it means playing the dumb blonde or the gossip mongering bad boy. Too bad it didn't work in their favor for long and they are now yesterday's news.
It's amazing how badly they have tried and failed to remain in the spotlight. They moved into Daddy Dentist Pratt's house after going broke, and Spencer returned to school. Hopefully he'll actually get a regular job and stop trying to be famous.
ChantonsLamour I was talking about them last month because "The Hills" was being marathoned on MTV. I never think about them anymore unless I catch an ad for them in a two-rate reality show or someone like you is in my notifications, lol. THEY SAID they were broke and that's why they moved into his parents' house. THEY SAID they blew their millions. It didn't originate from me, so swing and a miss, girly. Some of the others on the show actually got good careers, so who cares if they're "yesterday's news" in Hollywood terms? I was hoping for the same for these two thanks to college and seeming to come down to earth in more recent times. That's much more positive and realistic than your attempt to defend them with that pathetic logic! What are you? What's left of their PR team? LOL. Sit down.
ChantonsLamour You're clearly not clinically sane, including +1ing your own posts, lmao. Plenty of others on the show can survive without living in their parents' basement after admitting to blowing their own millions. For the record, I did always find the Pratts as making great tv... well, on "The Hills." Uh, yeah, it does get rerun... and not just for the Pratts! For nostalgia over the others and the show period. When watching the marathon, I was trying to find a clip from "The Hills" but found this interview. They're just as much yesterday's news as any of the cast. They just don't want to let some of the tv fame go. If you think that makes them the winners of the cast, you measure success in a weird way. Bu-bye.
In a few years when their stupid TV show is forgotten you'll hear the Kardashians going on about how their show was scripted and fake... like we don't know that already. Kim K: "The more drama the bigger the bonus" and like Heidi and Spencer are admitting that the car fight was fake you'll hear Kim saying "The shows ratings were so bad I had to fake a robbery so people can feel sympathy. I would never be stupid enough to carry so much expensive jewelry on me."
I heard him say that, but it's kinda weird that he said that, because everything in the past is supposed to be changed to sex and the city, so this shit is confusing.
There were parts of the show that were real, Lauren and Spencer genuinely hated each other, but after season 1 it began to become HEAVILY scripted and manufactured just like most reality these days. Its sad because Id prefer to watch genuinely real people and their real lives hence why I prefer watching vloggers these days over fake reality. People still get sucked in but you have to think when a scene is so outrageous (for example in the hills is Spencer genuinely was having an emotional affair with that bartender staci then why was she allowed to be at their wedding after Heidi and her fought like cats?!) you have to remember that, that wouldnt happen in real life. Watching these 2 in this interview really is humbling in the sense that you really see who they are and actually I think they are nice people who got sucked into a world of fame and fortune, made mistakes, were going along with playing false characters for a majority of their life and they lost themselves. Its nice to see them really evolving now.
Um no, Spencer. The "kicking out of the car" was over Heidi saying she didn't want to move in with you. H: My answer's "no." S:: Sweet. My answer's "get out of my car." Yes, I remember the dialogue, LOL. With the pregnancy storyline (that I knew was fake--Heidi grinned after buying the test and and is an all-around terrible actress!--Spencer in the car then actually was nice about a "possible pregnancy." Anyways, they totally got fired from the show when Spencer threatened a crew member. The show as a whole... fake, and yes, faker by the season. But they got canned.
dbedazzling1 Haha, probably so. I don't recall any others, gut maybe they filmed more.. maybe even for the pregnancy storyline. It may have been filmed with alternate reactions, but it never showed anything other than him being supportive. There were so many fake parts anyways, of course.
Ok but I would have been GAGGED if Heidi would have left Spencer at the alter & took off in a car with Lauren. Lets be real the show would probably still be going if that would have happened.
You couldn't pay me enough to do what they did. You're really an actor but everyone thinks this character is who you really are, that's a nightmare lol. I hope they saved their pennies....
