This is my chance to say please keep making tekken videos even after tekken 8 comes out, it’s what brought me onto your channel because it’s so interesting listening to what you think about tekken. I can’t say I’ll stay around after the tekken videos stop but I’ll definitely try them for sure
8:41 he decided to raise him because kazuya proved he is powerful enough. You forgot tekken 7's reason why heihachi decided to throw kaz off of a cliff was recap. And that's really bad and unreasonable recap. In original story, there is no kazumi stuff and heihachi doesn't knows his son has the devil gene. He just wanted to know is kazuya strong enough to be his heir? Heihachi didn't even saw any devil in his entire life until tekken 2's final fight.
Kazumi did exist. We learn about her in Tekken 2 as her name is inscribed next to Heihachi's in one of the stages. Heihachi doesn't SEE Kazuya's Devil Gene till Tekken 2 but there's nothing saying he wasn't aware of its existence. There's never any mention of Heihachi knowing or not knowing about the Devil Gene. It just isn't brought up. None of the backstory is shown. We only get references to it nothing more. 7 adds information we didn't know prior but doesn't directly conflict with any single event from previous games.

Heihachi still didn’t job as much as Kazuya who was the biggest jobber out there, especially after his comeback in T4. Him losing to both Hei & Jin in T4 made everyone think that he’s the weakest Mishima and that’s why now people are shocked why Kazuya is so powerful. I guess Bamco wasn’t really good at portraying certain things
While I love Tekken lore overall. I wasn't too crazy about Heihachi in Tekken 7 story mode. How do you feel about the writers retconing Heihachi's motivations for throwing Kazuya off the cliff? I feel like that was weak writing on the Tekken writers part. They could have still kept the stuff with Kazumi trying to kill Heihachi but kept the original reason for the cliff throw. Like Akuma's deal with Kazumi this retcon fucks up the lore imo.
I’m actually okay with it. While as a general rule I’m not a fan of retcons this actually isn’t a full retcon. Kazumi already existed all the way back in Tekken 2 and his reasoning for throwing him off the cliff was more so given a second meaning not necessarily a new one. While he threw him off because he thought he’d have the Devil Gene he still chooses to train him afterwards due to his survival and seeing him as worth just like in the original. I see it as added context to a story that we never saw the full picture of in the original game more than an outright change in the story and there’s no doubt that they’re goal was to flesh out Heihachi and 7 successfully did that without repainting him as a good guy. Not a perfect change but not a terrible one either. 6/10 retcon.
Kazuya is the most consistently written Mishima of the main three. He begins the series as a damaged badass prick and ends that way. Jin and Heihachi flipped flopped way too much.
I heard somewhere that Harada and Murray were thinking about adding Donald Trump as a guest character in Tekken. That would just as cringe as "make outworld great again". Hopefully that shit will never happen.
No because that wasn’t gonna impact the story it was just gonna be a DLC character you could buy or ignore. Shao Khan is an existing character that they chose to make far less competent and threatening so they can do a lazy roast to Trump who has nothing in common with Shao Khan. They literally sacrificed the characterization of their main villain for a bad joke and he’s never recovered from it.
Fun video and good script! If I could critique anything, I think the audio balance might be slightly off. For some reason it is projecting more from the right than left and sounds slightly off on headphones.
There’s no script but thank you. As for the audio the video is recorded via my phone so if I don’t talk directly into the center of the mic and it’s off on one side more than the other it has this effect. Until I can get better equipment it can only improve incrementally. I tried buying a cheap mic for around $300 to solve this problem and it was FAR worse. Check out my Grease Video if you want to hear that abomination. If I start making real money doing this in the future I’ll make the proper investment to upgrade my gear but as of now it’s my phone, a $200 laptop and IMovie. So in short, yes I’m aware of the issue and do plan to fix it in the future hopefully.
@@rougarabid I might know a solution which could maybe help. And with free software no less! There is a program called Audacity, free to download and very safe, where you can edit MP3 files and most other audio formats. There are various ways to balance the left and right side via it.
It ain’t about the views just make the kind of stuff you like! Personally I would like to see a video on Lee Chaolan (and his inconsistent characterization from Tekken 2’s version to Tekken 5 onwards) but just do you bro!

Thank you for this other great analysis. Personally I’ve never liked Heihachi (which I’ve always called Yeiachi). I think everything bad that happened in Tekken is due to him. I prefer Jin and Kazuya (and Lars and Lee)
