Remember, that we all are brothers
All people, beasts, trees and stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
That was always there
Before people lived and named it
Before the first seed sprouted

On the rez Pine Ridge, we call this being Wakan Tanka, in Saxton, it translates to "the Great Mystery", though westerners will also say "the holy one, divine being", etc as we are also victim of those who used the cross in gross means that contradict its essence. Indeed the stones and leaves are our cousins and every being, be they grass, sun, water, deer, bird, wind, ape, or newly discovered peoples hidden deep in forests, we are kin and should be respected more than in the current state of things. I long for the old ways. While Danes are not known for peaceful meeting of peoples in history as Native Americans are, we share a similar aesthetic, code of honor and trust, music, and general respect for our tribes' members as a family as well as our surroundings. Granted, my mother is Oglala Lakota oyate and my father of Irish druid line, I find myself drawn and almost addicted to your sounds. I can not thank you enough for your art. Best of luck to your crew and again, thank you so much for doing what you do. Du skal nog få kärligheden at föle.

Soil is a substance that transcends national and governmental boundaries. We can draw lines in soil and sand but our mother and father erases this line at their whim. An artist realizes this in their craft and will communicate this without addressing the subject right out. It is our obligation to supply these textures and abstract messages so others will figure these things out for themselves. You do a wonderful job at this by just being and having a team of one mind who produces such soil in which sprouts individual ideas that are part of the universal mind. I know I've thanked you a lot for your art and that it is impossible for one to thank enough without being creepy or something, but still, there are few words in any language that can relay my thanks and many many others' for your art; this is what we need right now as divided as we are. A solidified message is as dividing as Nietzsche's dragon scales so having a voice or art that has a great deal of ambiguity is much more likely to impact a curious mind and perhaps a greater tool (that we medicine men and artists alike) can use to break the power hungry masters and bring ash to tables clad in spoils. Thank you again and best of luck.

Yes. And that has a reason. The looks, song texts and instruments are inspired by actual historic artefacts - and from tribes where some of the culture survived until today like the Sámi people in Scandinvia or artic tribes in the North of Russia. A lot of the Neo Pagan actual copy Hollywood style druides and put in philosophy of there own. So the texts are inspired for example from artefacts, with written chants or similar - also from the antic Roman reports about the Germanic tribes and the further north. There do not put there own religious and political opinions in it but use actual sources and try to get some of the sounds back as far they can get reconstructed - but of course with a mordern interpretation. So you can take them seriuously as they really try to implement a kind of experimental archeology in music. So they were put in the Neo-folk or Neo-pagan camp but they self label their music as amplified history.

@Lethean Scythians are not Persians, they are just Scythians. Indo-Europeanic assume of their identity is a pre-acceptance to confirm Indo-Aryanic distribution in Europe and Asia. Kiengiras people (That was what they call themselves) of Mesopotamia is the ancestors of the Scythians, which we call them Sumerians according to Arabic sources. Name of the Kiengiras coming from 'Kiengir' the Suvarians (which migrated to Grand Tartaria which we call Siberia nowadays and related with the name of Sumerians) and 'As' people (As-gard comes from it, qar/qol means branch/arm in Altaic Language) was living in Anatolia or North of Caucasus which Herodotos or Klaudius Ptolemaios named these places as Turcae/Iurcae(probably 'T' letter were obliterated through times) Name of the Asia comes from the As people. Because the Greeks only and ever neighbour of them was As-related Hittites, Lydians and Trakians. Odin's Journey starts on Turkkaland and goes through Saaksland(Saka means Scythians/Iskit) and in Heimskringla Sturrlusson mentions about great mountains that splits Great Swithiod (Russia/Byelorussia) from other nations and south of it is not far from the place that Odin's wealths and properties preserved . We can assume that mountains that splits Swithiod from other nations are Caucasus Mountains and the place he mentions is Azerbaijan(modern name) which is not far from Asia minor nor Turcae( modernly Southwest of Russia and east of Ukraini) . Sturrlusson calls it, Turkkaland. So it is a definitely a saga and not the reason of migration of As people to cold and not so fertile lands of North Europe. Sturrlusson mentions in Heimskringla about Romans that expanded everywhere and make everyone kneel before them but probably he is not talking about the Romans but Alexander, Macedonian Emperor himself. Greeks were calling themselves Romaoi(Greeks) in the time of Sturlusson which means 11th century, the time when Sagas about Odin and his journey written in papers. This comment has become too long, If you are interested I can write another couple things about it and advise sources about the origin of the Normans. Do not be confused about modern Turkey and ancestral Turks. Of course they are related but modern Turks have been mixed with Arabians and Iranics and Islamized. So there are nothing so much in common. But Magyars/Hungarians and Kipchaks/Kyrgyz-Kazakh-Saka people in Russia is slightly more related with Nordics. But I only wonder about why Turks are speaking a Altaic language but Nordics speaks an Indo-Europeanic language. This is the only answer i do not have satisfying.
@Ali_Iskender_Kardeshoglu
@Ali_Iskender_Kardeshoglu 4 года назад
@Lethean Naming of Iran is not like that quitely. Everyone in the Asia (includes persians, too) was calling them "Acem" or "Fars". When the Aryanism in Europe gone popular Padishah of Persia changed their international name to Iran to be accepted by Nazis. Alas, they were not considered to be Aryan by Germany furthermore Turkey considered as one. And as i said before: Accepting Scythians as Iranian people is a pre-acceptence to confirm Indo-European distrubition in Eurasia. No one can explain unity of Indo-Aryans when another race group literally slices your bonds with your other half. But that is the history. A Scythian Prince in Issyk Kurgan found in Kazakhstan which lived in 5th century BC. There is a writing on this sepulcher which if you read this as Indo-Iranian structure and nearly words it will be "This bowl (has?) grape wine, baked food and fresh butter, so much, deadly?" and if you read this in Altaic structure and nearly words "Brother here is Furnace (for you), make the foreigners kneel (before you), our nation (must be) plentiful!" according to Amanjalov. You can choose which one is more meaningful and makes sense. In summary: Scythians are not Indo-Iranian people.

Ali İskender Kardeşoğlu Александр Кардашев The “Altaic” language family is largely disowned by linguists. There’s no positive evidence to support the existence of an Altaic ancestor language, just some correlations in other languages. Lyrics from 1:52 are possibly "Hariuha laþu laukar gakar alu". "Hariuha" appears in old runic inscriptions and is probably a name. "laþu laukaR. gakaR alu" is an inscription from Schonen Bracteate-1, interpreted as "evocation Laukaz. cuckoo magic". Laukaz is the l-rune, and used as a symbol of fertility. Lyrics from 3:00 is Hávamál 156: Þat kann ek it ellifta: ef ek skal til orrostu leiða langvini, und randir ek gel, en þeir með ríki fara heilir hildar til, heilir hildi frá, koma þeir heilir hvaðan. Laukar is a dialect word to this day in Norway, it means onions. Allium Victorialis, the Victory Onion, held magical and religious significance among all germanic peoples between Norway and the Alps. It was rubbed on armour, swords and shields, planted around houses and worn as a talisman of protection. IMO, that is the laukar in question. It's a invocation of protection.

Odin translation: [Hariuha laþu laukar gakar alu ole lule laukar] An eleventh I know, if needs I must lead To the fight my long-loved friends; I sing in the shields, and in strength they go Whole to the field of fight, Whole from the field of fight, And whole they come thence home. A fifth I know, If I see from afar An arrow fly 'gainst the folk; It flies not so swift That I stop it not, If ever my eyes behold it. Credits to Tribe Benjamin, Sciera and Birmm (lyrics translate)

Hey Greg. My mother is Oglala Lakota (Native American of what this country calls "Sioux") and my father is from Ireland from an old tribe who has kept the old ways predating the cross. This strikes me in both lineages as a call to a sort of peace among traditions and familial tribal unity. In Lakota nation, we use similar drum patterns and use garb that dates back over 20,000 years of tradition, or at least 13,000 years since the language was created, and for similar purposes. My father has held a family tradition centuries old that has Druid origins, so the combination of these esthetics somehow drew me to this band as well. I've spread word on Pine Ridge and even our elders enjoy and appreciate a link to the old ways before the cross and are thrilled that, even from another nation, artists are diving into the old. It seems possible by delving into our ancient past, no matter which of the spices of people, helps educate how things once were without perversion of political or religious bias. This is most important in these times, however, I feel people are more inclined to appreciate the art for what it is. I too am become addicted to these sounds and I look forward to hearing what you can come up with in the future knowing you also are influenced. Hoka hey, kola, tohki wanaphika ni.

Troy Iktomi-Coots I'm so glad you've shared this with your elders! I've sat down with a few Native elders in Northern CA and shared with them the stories of my Swedish ancestors and how similar our stories are. We all agreed that our ancestors would have recognized one another. We all come from hunter gatherers, worshipers of Nature. Our ancestors all used similar tools, similar methods of procuring foods, had similar means of honoring the Earth, the Sky, and all our living relatives. It's time to bridge the gap, come together, and realize differences are not genetic, but in mindset. We need to come together and heal humanity from it's folly and conceit.
@kolaiktomi
@kolaiktomi 6 лет назад
I could not agree more cousin. The base of our experience is rooted in our surroundings. We grow from the experience of our roots and to reverse this is to decay, starting a process all over again and this is not growth in any linear terms. Our "primitive" roots seem at times to have more sense than our current branches though it is worth noting we have still come a long way to support other trees on this turtle to flourish. Respecting our surroundings means respecting its inhabitants and the resources that support them. In supporting arts at our root, no matter what corner of this sphere these roots call home, we can see more of this intercontinental relationship and potentially recognize differences in which we could, hopefully, one day appreciate and embrace while still giving space for these differences to thrive. I see the clouds as one canopy in the skies we breath in this sense and offer this reality in the decades to come.

"Also in the northern parts of of Britain, that is, beyond the Humber and around York, the people who inhabit these parts use a similar kind of singing in symphonic harmony [i.e., based on the symphoniae or concords]: but with a variety of only two distinct melodies and parts, one murmuring below, the other equally soothing and charming the ear above. Yet in both nations this special style has been acquired not by studied art but by long usage, so that it has now become as it were a habit of second nature. And this has now become so strong in either nation, and taken such firm roots, that one never hears simple singing, but either with many voices as in the former [Wales], or nevertheless at least two as in the latter [northern England]. And what is yet more marvellous: even children, and indeed infants, almost from when they first turn from tears to songs, follow the same fashion of singing. Since the English do not generally use this manner of singing, but only the northerners, I believe that it is from the Danes and Norwegians, who often used to occupy these parts of the island and were wont to hold them for long periods of time, that the inhabitants have acquired likewise their affinities of speech and their special manner of singing (Robinson and Parrish)."

They practice this because for a long.time, the North of Britain especially till the coming of Christianity was brimming with Celtic and Druidic influence, the more north u went, the more primitive and Celtic it got, eventhough most of them hAve been converted, there are those who still practice the Old druidic rituals in the UK especially in Scotland and wales

I am not deaf but I think I know what you are getting at. I have experienced synesthaesia in my life, and I expect you are "listening" synaesthetically, which is a real thing. Your brain is taking the visual data and sending it to your auditory cortex for processing, bypassing your ears, you will not be hearing it as accurately as a hearing person because of some visual corruption of the data, but it will, never the less be quite accurate. If you are not already doing so, play it through quality speakers, and feel the kinaestetic vibration, so that you have two sources of data to inform your auditory cortex. You will then have a much more complete and accurate experience.

After hearing songs like this one and Maidjan, it puts into perspective why people feel so lost today. They don't have a strong sense of purpose driving them like the elder generations had before us through religions and beliefs. It is a blessing to be freed of the often arbitrary rules that got put forth by institutions, but being without a stringent set of rules for life, it's equally a curse to society due to the masses of people that can't forge a meaning of their own, sufficient enough to replace things such as these rituals. I have a profound appreciation for religions/cultures that have and continue to seek a brighter tomorrow. I'm equally disappointed by their failings, however it seems to have come to a net positive given the relative peace we have today. As much as it takes away from the message, I'd love to see rough english translated subtitles. Anyways, I'm droning on here. Great Job Heilung.

Thank you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, and above. Quite possibly one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard in my life. It's become an almost daily prayer for me. Thank you, and please don't stop doing what you do.

Helene Bøksle and Maria Franz are the 2 ladies with a golden voice to me. It's 2023 now and still listing to those amazing ladies!

This is something deeper than just music. It's connecting with who you are and where you come from. This has ancient roots as deep as Yggdrasil. HAIL WOOTAN!

I like how each rock band goes for a modern look according to the year but they go to their ancestral shaman roots which makes them more interesting to listen to and watch

I don't know why but for some reason when I got out of surgery today I needed to watch this. It gives me a feeling of peace and tranquility. I don't feel so anxious now.
