Heimat
It is difficult to translate the German word "Heimat". In the film's subtitles, we translate it as “Homeland“. But is that correct? So, what does "Heimat" mean? Is it the place of birth or the place of residence? Origin or Habitat? Does "Heimat" mean the intimate "home" or is it a freely selectable place, maybe the country you decide to live in? Does the term express a feeling or is it about bureaucracy?
Our short film gives the opportunity to think about the concept of „Heimat“ and perhaps to find a very personal meaning of it.
