@@Kamal-nh9el Shankar ji was more into Indian melodies and Jaikishan ji was into western melodies, although both had full knowledge of both the styles. My logical guess is Jaikishan ji composed Jaan Pehchan Ho.
Laxmi Chaya is super cute in this dance number. When she smiles while shaking her head side to side it makes me smile. I just wonder how she didn't get a headache from this.
In many SJ movie you will hear music - song (released in 1964), then you watch an Older movie with music by SJ (example: 1959), you might hear that (1964 movie) music in background. SJ, Sailendra and Hasarat Jaipuri team always busy creating movie music for RK, Shammi Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Mehmood. It was very creative team in Bollywood, which will never happen again (only other team I can think of is Shaqeel Badayuni and Naushad).
Thanks to the Gods that you're not only an expert in eclectic music taste but also a medical expert for the heart diseases, be it weak or overstrained or even broken. I got nearly a heartattack when I first listened to this song (Ghost World Intro)!!
Dear Sanjay Bany persad, just to amend you this was not year 1969 but it was 1965 when the movie GUMNAAM Was released, In late 1964 this song before the release of movie this song was hit on Radio.
Dear Rajinder, thank you for this information... Gumnaam was released before my time so I was reliant on information from the internet regarding it's release date which (as you have seen and is commonly the case on the internet), was wrong information! Thanks, Sanjay
and what is your source of info when you say that this song was originally recorded for mehmood? mehmood plays important role in film and this song could not have been recorded for him because his part until 10 little "indians" are left behind on island ... my point is mehmood's role was never abridge or removed ... male/female protagonists are manoj kumar and nanda and film has other artists ... mehmood did not "star" originally or otherwise ... he would have been signed up as comic and he does that role ... hermann or somebody would have sang on screen because mehmoo would have his role cut out for playing comic later in movie like he di in gazillion many dozens of movies in past
The man at the mike (in the white suit) is Herman Benjamin. He was the choreographer for that film. The actual singer who provided the vocals is Mohammad Rafi. The female dancer (in the golden dress) is Laxmi Chhaya.
