In the US, passport photo requirements say we can wear jewelry in our passport photos including body jewelry as long as the jewelry does hide your face.
I have no idea why almost everyone in Nigeria is always aggressive. When I traveled back home, my mum was asking me for something with so much aggression, then I responded my usual calm way, all of a sudden came and sat close to me and asked if I was ok😢 Every time I went out and had the opportunity to speak, some people will be asking me, you from here so? Even though na pidgin I use dey talk with dem oh...just because I no dey talk with aggression, na em make dem dey doubt sey i no be Nigerian. We really have to learn how to talk nicely to one another in our country 😊
Same with my husband. We were on a queue at the airport to check in our luggage as our boarding pass to Lagos was checked by the airline attendant. Lo and behold , a supposed married woman made some silly comment of my husband talking like a woman and asking if he is a man because he was not shouting or yelling , to make it worse he literally said it and looked away while she made her way ahead of him to show him that he is slow. I watched this in disdain but did not react since my husband absolutely ignored her. We laughed over it when we got to Lagos because we know that Nigeria has truly affected the mind of its citizens. I can’t cope with such hostility and behavioral disorder.
I also experienced the aggression when I visited last year October. Sometimes I would be triggered to act like them so as not to appear odd. It's crazy. Despite all been said, I personally doubt if I can live long term in Nigeria at the moment. I dislike the craziness.
I think it's a societal issue not cultural. I am guilty as well. I'm still learning to talk softly. It's so bad that whenever I'm discussing with my wife who's non African, my son would ask 'Daddy why are you yelling at my mom?' And I would reply him I'm not yelling but talking😢@@Jojo111

Thanks for this topic and well thought-out-content. You indeed show your grooming wherever you find yourself, it tells a lot about a person. You are always on point! Unfortunately so many in that clime need to go to school for 'manner of approach' and use-of-words. There is a way that people any where in the world can pass on a message and it will be received with thanks, respect or grumbling. Pity!
Na true talk oooh, na principal office oooh, Summer abeg I have been rolling on the floor this your laughter is so contagious my ribs wan crack, na so una dey do for here 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
Honestly they need to do something about their camera and photos. My daughter renewed passport, this time for 10 years, her photo on it leaves one dumbfounded, looking muddy and unnatural, so dark, it’s a shame in this era of smart shots.
This is really pain-full! When you go for a pass photo ( in Europe) the photographer will take up to four photos and ask you to choose the one you like most but, only with the exception of you not smiling when it’s needed as an official photo . Our Nigerian immigration offices “for captioning” handles us women as if we committed a crime to be a woman, the occurrence of this ill act against us women is all over in the country and it’s a shame that people have ignored it for several years and taking it to be a norm. The intimidation is highly offensive in every immigration office in Nigeria, it’s a big shame! This act of handling and addressing us women needs to stop with immediate effect, it’s so disgusting!
Renewing your Nigerian passport is a case of mistaken identity. Once you enter to be captured, just know you do turn fugitive and will have to carry backup documents to prove that you’re the same person.
You can imagine what the wife and colleagues are going through. Also, no customer service, no consumer protection. In a sane country, his silly ass would have been fired
My dear that is Nigeria for you working in the street in Nigeria especially commuters the way they interact is amazing I can't explain somebody you never met suddenly quarreling in the street just because you touched or mistakenly brush pass somebody by mistake na quarrel be that not a single love your neighbor in that country Nigeria only a handful that have the spirit of love in Nigeria you make me laugh so much one of my passport picture one of the officers at the airport use his wet thumb to damage my face and said to me I look like man even my 2024 NIN photo I was fused to change my white head scarf in London office my dear God bless our Country Nigeria you make me laugh so much I like the way you addres matter don't stop my dear Summer I like your shot let accomodation so much Stay blessed One love ❤❤❤ 😂😂😂
Congratulations Summer for your renewed passport unfortunately that is our root we will keep talking about it until thy kingdom come. As for the picture it looks like it was taken in 1914.. Am scared now to renew mine because of what i ordered versus what I got.❤❤❤
In my country...IDs, driver's license and passport photos have strict specifications and requirements. We all look like convicts on those documents shaa. Zero swag is the default. No smiling. You need to look vexed. Hair should not cover your forehead or ears and the hair should be natural...no braids or weaves/wigs. The background should be blank...white and your dress or top should have a collar...very covered up, very demure. No piercings on your face, no earrings. Very plain Jane...basic like a mugshot at the police station.
2 Very funny but not cool When I went for my own passport years back It was like hell because it was money money all the way infact I got pics off and left but a woman close to the office came to my rescue and delivered mine to me with my monetary gratitude afterwards Summer to get what you desire please go through an agent next time because Nigerian make money from Nigerians building Barrie's walls and obstacles just to make money from government policies and routine MAY GOD ALMIGHTY INTERVENTION SEE US THROUGH IN JESUS NAME AMEN 🙏🏿♥️😂🌟 ONE LOVE KEEP US TOGETHER ❤🇳🇬😂
Same thing happened to me as well. It doesn’t look like me at all but I took it like that o. It look like a mug shot! My husband said, just take it like that and let get out of here 😂😂😂
The way we present ourselves is the way people will surely address us.People need to see our swag in our passport not looking like monkeys. When you renew outside Nigeria it is always looking nice, but any renewals in Nigeria the look therein look horrible too dark. They need to change their cameras. We also need to commend their efforts when they are working. 👏 kudos to the Nigeria High commission in London after capture I received my passport the second day.Good Job done by them all.The staff there are very friendly, and polite no form of aggression.I also commend the minister.
It's terrible. They don't even bother with informed consent o. They treat patients without telling them what's going on. Most of dem don't even know nothing about the meds they take, talkless of side effects to report or look out for. It is God that is saving our people back home.
Your new Nigerian passport does look like a black and white photo from the1950s or 1960s. Here in the US, we can use color photos taken within the past 6 months with a white or off-white background.
Hi Summer! It's true. The d picture doesn't look like u. It happened to me as well. Even though mine was taken in the Nigerian embassy in Holland, it made me look somehow, not fine at all. They always insult and embarrass u whenever u apply for anything at any Nigerian embassy home & abroad. By d way, Summer, all d native wears these days look good on you.😊
Summer I am so happy that you really get a good laugh at the passport picture 📸 totally look like a whole different person. I think they should be educated on how to take a proper picture of their clients without making them look like a figutive in their own country and also to treat people with respect. I am so glad that you have a good sense of humor love you stay blessed. 🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️👍💐🌹🇺🇸🇭🇹😆😆😆😆😆
I’m telling you! I just renewed mine. I’m in another West African country and it’s just the same. 😄 They will rush you and yell at you at the same time. I didn’t even sign my name properly on the machine. I just know my pic is a mess.
That's Lagos for you, Abuja is different and other States are different. Collect your Nigerian passport and look at your picture of yourself you will cry and regret ever going in therey. I nearly cried when I Collect my Nigerian and looked at my picture.
Na so so ceremony for their capturing in Naija. No earrings, pack your hair up, no this no that and they are even rude talking to people. The picture came out not looking like me o. It will be like that for the next 10 years o 😂
This happened to me, all we can do but laugh, it is not me they will come and frustrate. When I used NIN to try to get a new card for my bank account they bank people refused as they didn’t believe I was the same person in the picture. Despite showing them my uk passport. Definitely needs improvement. 😂
Nigeria we have a long way to go. God forbid. It has happened to me before. I told them this is not me. After much talk. I have to do another one. One one they will tell you that is not you.
Nigerians as for my country cameroon i went to Washington to renew my cameroon passport they asked me if i have an american passport i said yes they told me ok u are not from cameroon drop the passport and leave. Nigeria u are lucky u can carry both with us we are ruled by pure criminals Africa we can do better.
Nothing is on an IT system. Go somewhere else and do it. This time around say no if asked. Just go with expired Cameroonian passport that has the visa allowing you to stay in the country indefinitely.
my brother, they did that on purpose. Are Cameroonians allowed to vote in Diaspora? You are entitled to a connection with your father’s or mother’s land!
Happens to me also. Both of my passports are valid, but can.never understand why they need to see your Nigerian passport before leaving Nigeria even though I have my showed my other valid passport.
Haaaa Summer 😅! My daughter and my husband was wondering who was on my Nigerian passport when I got mine here in Stockholm, Sweden. Infact if not that my name and date of birth was written on it, I would have called and told them that they sent me another person's passport 😂😂😂🤣🤣! You are not alone, their behavior is the same here( Nigerian embassy Stockholm passport department) as well, so dehumanising.
It's not funny at all, l renewed mine in January & got it same-day but it was a different picture to my real look. Not long ago l was invited to show physically at the Embassy before the visa was issued. Ten years Passport that doesn't fully look like me.
The photo looks like you, Summer. However, it looks like it was processed in one of the sepia tones. Sepia coloring supposedly helps to protect a photo from damage. It was very common back in the 50's and 60's. I must say.. I've never seen a passport photo that looks like this. Most that I've seen have been either black & white or color photos. My own is a color photo.
Regarding the PP photos... I feel you; I've come to terms with whoever is in mine 😂😂😂. I was told to remove my earrings 😂 and tissue was put behind my ears 😂 don't let me start with the picture itself. I love my country though but that picture 😂
Summer, this na trap o. No carry this passport go anywhere, dem go arrest you for impersonation. And seriously, you know why they did this na, its pay back for the drama you caused the last time.
So you mean you can travel home with expired Nigerian passport then leave with valid foreign passport? My problem here in Germany, is how to get the so called NIN. Everything is stress when it comes to Nija.
LMAO, Summer! True talk. Walahi, I look like a MOST wanted on my Nigeria passport😂😂😂 I really don't understand the need for all the extras they subjected us to.
I went to Nigeria with an expired passport. I became ill and unable to renew it. I was advised by a former Director of immigration that Nigeria Immigration cannot stop me because I am not their citizen and my foreign passport is up to date. Anyways I had to bribe them with #15000, and I almost missed my flight. To cut the long story short, I was allowed to travel.
Summer this your laugh 😂😂laugh wan finish truth is your own even look better sef i remember going to take ielts exam once with my old passport it has expired now and the invigilator refused to allow me in because of the picture on my passport he delayed me until other examiners convinced him iwas the person on the passport i tell you it was not funny that day
