Does no one else ship Rowan and Aelin together, or is it just me? I will go down with that ship. They would be really good together because Rowan is the only one that understands and accept Aelin for who she really is. As for Dorrian and Chaol, from the start of the book I've never really see Aelin ending up with either of them. I did used to ship Dorrian with Aelin, but I think that was because of their friendship, with them recommending each other books and with the dogs and all that. I really like them together, but not in a romantic way. Chaol, I'm not really sure about him. He's a nice guy but he's having trouble of accepting Aelin. He loves Celaena, but he doesn't love Aelin and Aelin is who she really is. #ROWALENA
for real!!! I was loving the book so much and then that chapter totally slowed my pace down, because I wasn't feeling it at all. It took forever to get through, but by the end it was great. I can't wait to see how they fit in the war and how they will interact with Aelin.
Am I the only one who kind of ships Celaena with...everyone? Like, I enjoyed her with Dorian in book one, I thought she and Chaol were cute in book two, and now that I finished book three I like her relationship with Rowan. I think I'd be okay no matter who she ends up with, as long as everyone is happy. I just want my babies to be happy
I was team Dorian/Chaol in the first book, complete team Chaol second book, then turned my back on chaol and became rowan because chaol was just like udeydgeud towards Celaena in my opinion in the third
I was like I love Chaol and Calaena and nothing can change that!!!! And then I met Rowan..... lol now I ship Aelin and Rowan together soooooo much. I don't know who I am anymore either.
Anime battles battle Royale it’s near the beginning of the book after they first meet. It’s the second time they train, I think, when he forces her into the tomb like thing to face the whitlings? Or something but she runs into a Valg prince instead and relives a lot of her past trauma
I was a MASSIVE shipper of Dorian x Celaena, but maybe because we didn't see a whole load of them being together lately, I can't help but love her and Rowan being together. I'M SORRY BUT ROWAN IS ADORABLE TO ME OK BYE
+Pasta Omg sammmmmeee. I still want Dorian and Celeana BUUTTT if she ends up with Rowan my heart can actually take it cause I love him so mucha hahaha. I wanted her to have feelings for him during the third book ahaha. With Chaol it feels more like a knife in my little Dorian/Celeana shipper's heart hahah
I have literally had a different ship EVERY SINGLE BOOK. Like I am COMPLETELY confident in one person and then BAM! Right now I ship Rowan and Celeana so hard. They are literally perfect. But ugh that's how I felt about Chaol. Compared to Rowan though, both Chaol and Dorian seem like useless to me. I even shipped Luca and Aelin for like one page and same with Aedion. Stupid love hexagon.
+Ashlee Chaidez You my friend stole the words out of my mouth. It's just that after all Rowan's badassery (is that even a word? no? well it is one now) Chaol and Dorian are meh. I was Team Chaol back in the first two books but I'm definitely Team Rowan now. I also shipped her with Luca and Aedion, I think I shipped her with every single person in the books except for Dorian. I can't wait for the fourth book to see what happens, I'm secretly praying that Sam isn't actually dead and that he somehow meets with Celaena. I would love if all the guys just held an epic battle for her love. I also want Nox back, he was really cool and I think he might make an appearance in one of the next books, probably when she starts gathering people for the war against the King. Ok I need to stop now.
A message to all the Chaol haters out there: -If it wasn't for Chaol, Celaena never would've met Rowan. -She never would've truly moved on. (Sam, Nehemia, etc.) -He protects Dorian no matter what, even though they end up losing their friendship. -He's willing to die for Aelin & Aedion to meet. -He's adorable and you should totally stop hating on him. :)
IM TEAM ROWAN!!!! I know I'm the only one on this ship but I used to be team Choal but after Heir of Fire.... Choal, honestly where do ur loyalties lie. I think Celeana doesn't need anyone besides her Fae parabatia Rowan TEAM ROWAN AND OMGOMGOMGOMG I never noticed Dorians magic is like Rowan's AHHH
TheSparklez Master Yup, if not for Heir Of Fire there wouldn't even be no Rowan.... But, Chaol was really like..... WHY SEND HER OFF WHEN YOU CAN RUN OFF TOGETHER???
Thr Rowan/Celaena friendship was a favorite of mine. I wholeheartedly agree Celaena and Dorian will be together. This is the team that will take down ALL the enemies:Celaena (badass leader), Rowan, Aedion, maybe Ansel (BFF BAMF warriors), and Dorian (kickass boyfriend who weilds magic). Also lets not forget Fleetfoot the wonder dog! Choal can suck it for all I care.
I was on Chaol's side for a LONG time, but honestly I think at this point I think that either Celaena's gonna find someone completely new and pair up with them OR I'm kinda hoping she'll realize that she's bad-ass on her own and so she won't end up with anyone but like Rowan as her BFF. Also this review was extremely entertaining
I'm totally team Rowan. I want them to be together he's my favorite character other than Celaena but I know its a pipe dream because Rowan already had a mate or whatever but a girl can still hope! I used to be team Chaol but after he said he couldn't accept a part of her I'm no longer rooting for him. Rowan is bae but I wouldn't be too heart broken if she got with Dorian.
Emily Marie I don't ship Rowan and Celaena at all like they are friends imo. And I have pretty much given up on Chaol as well ): I just think they're too different now to go back to what they had. And I don't think Dorian or Celaena deserve each other really. That's why I ship her with herself haha TEAM CELAENA
Emily Marie are you Ruby from TDM cuz u just read my mind I agree with the fact that Chaol is gone in my mind as a contestant and so is dorian originally I didn't ship Any of them together I wanted her to be a badass chick on her owncand be like #imamotherfuckingsinglepringlesoscrewyou I like the idea of Aelin and Rowan but tbh ROWAN IS MINE KEEP YOUR MITTS OFF!! :D
UHM YES!!!! Rowan and Chaol are gonna fight with each other over who is going to protect Celaena, they're gonna dislike each other at first but then when they realize they have the same goal, they'll respect each other.
I wrote a poem about Manon in this books. What do you think? :) "They are not born evil." The Crochan witch had spoken. The words still haunted her Had left her mind broken She was born heartless That was what she had been told But was it really the truth? It surprised her that the witch had been so bold "They made you into monsters, Manon. Made. And we feel sorry for you." Perhaps it was true. Perhaps she was born without a heart. Or maybe the Crochan witch was right with what she'd tried to impart They had been forced to hurt and kill until they were heartless too But maybe, just maybe they could try to start anew She would rebel against her grandmother, she's try to fight back She'd been born with a heart But her grandmother turned it black She'd create a new world where the witches could live in harmony And they'd take back the Wastes and live fearlessly
Also can there be just a Team Celaena?? I would so be on that team because SHE DON'T NEED NO MAN, unless she wants one, then I totally support whatever decision she makes (though I agree that her and Chaol are kinda finito)
Everyone's all like #TeamCelorian or #TeamChaolaena but I'm here saying I'M STILL NOT OVER SAM #SAMFOREVER #TEAMSAMLAENA ...but if I had to move on I STILL HAVE #TEAMROWAN
***** *whispers* he was my bae…. i wan him to be alive *shouts* WHY CANT YOU JUST RESURRECT HIM SARAH!! HE CAN BE A FAIRY OR SOMETHING *bursts into tears*
I'm torn between Team Dorian and Team Rowan. At first I don't like Dorian falling in love with Sorcsha, I want him to be in love with Celaena only. BUT when it's Celeana and Rowan, OMG they really have something. I can't wait to read Queen of Shadows now.. 😄😃
+aYka burlaos Honetly,I would want Dorian and Celaena be together because Celaena and Roan are just friends. They have such a beautiful parabatai bond and i would not for that to be broken by love. They are a special badass-team,but friendds.Dorian and Celaena forever.
Oh my GOD that scene where everyone said "GET UP"- THAT was the trigger, i couldn't hold my tears back anymore, especially how Sam (was too shocked to see him make an appearence that i just burst into tears) first appeared and then everyone followed, the tears just kept flowing more and more and MORE T-T. The scene still gives me goosebumps when i reread it, its the moment that splits the series between Celaena being Celaena, and then being Aelin.
Why is everyone hating Chaol? You may not ship #CHAOLEANA but Chaol is a good person. If it wasn't for him and Aedion HELPING Celeana build her new court/kingdom, if he hadn't protected her, PUSHED her towards the right direction? y'all need to give Captain Westfall some credit!
Chaol is awful, oh god i can't stand him. just like, whence you read queen of shadows, ugh... Dorian is great, I love Dorian, but i am so totally team Rowan. They are actually perfect for each. Rowlaena for life.
To be fair he kind of can. And Aelin isn't exactly perfect. Especially where I'm at in Queen of Shadows, she has lied quite a bit and hasn't lived up to any of her promises at all that she makes to others. Like how she was going to kill Dorian, despite promising Chaol that she wouldn't.
Do you not realise that SJM just did that to Chaol's character just to get us to hate him and stop shipping him with Celaena...The Chaol I know wouldn't do that...
nice, i know im late on this fandom but srsly, they changed. like, im gunna accept whoever aelin ends up with, why'd sjm had to dis any of dem precious bois ???
I agree so much! I understand that SJM changed Chaol's character in Queen of Shadows because she wanted us to not ship him and Celaena anymore, but I don't really like him at all now. In the first two books, he was pictured to be sturdy, powerful and reliable (he was the one Dorian and Celaena came to when they needed help), but now I almost consider him useless. Everyone has magic or is very skilled and knows their morels, but he is still confused about where is loyalties lie. I think that's why SJM left him out of empire of storms - he couldn't have done anything. The atmosphere has changed and the books progressed as did most of the characters... but Chaol stayed the same, he isn't built for a land with magic. And yes... TEAM ROWAN!
noOOoooOooOooOooOo CHAOL ALL DAY EVERYDAY. CHAOL OR NO MAN AT ALL. (love everything else though. ;-) my fav part was any moment between rowan and celaena. rowan is my fav character now omg i love him so much.)
melanie cunliffe i agree. her feelings for dorian fizzled out too quickly for her to go back to him i think (unless its out of necessity for the kingdoms or whatever) and Rowan is like her blood brother lmao
thebookbasement I'm sorry, but that ship has sunk. here's some proof: "But - no. she wouldn't think about Chaol. Not when she was feeling so balanced, clear headed, and GOOD" (394) (the "good" was in italics but becasue i can't use that i put it in caps). that show's how Chaol doesn't make her happy anymore, which proves she lost her feelings for him. then on the next page, she starts to tlak about how Chaol was good for when she was recovering from the loss of Sam and the mines, but how she's changed and they're not compatible. also, the scene that was covered in the video as anti-chaol proof is on 396, if you care to look it up.
because we Chaolaena shippers, see how human and flawed a character Chaol is, and we appreciate him more because of it. Chaol was taught his entire life to hate and fear magic and all of a sudden the two people he loves the most are magic? That's a lot to take in, he's not just going to be okay with it right away, that being said he never ever stopped loving Celaena and Dorian, he was always there for them and even though people say that Chaol couldn't decide and pick Celaena's side the whole time, the reality is he did pick Celaena's side from the very beginning. As soon as he started working with Aedion to undermine the King, it was very apparent that Chaol would always choose Celaena (just like Celaena will always choose Chaol I might add *ahem ahem* end of COM). Dorian had no idea that Chaol was working with Aedion. Chaol was actually doing something to help Celaena and overthrow the King, actively putting himself in danger, but Dorian was exploring his magic and being lovey dovey with Sorscha (not that there is anything wrong with that, he owes himself to know what he can do but I'm just saying Chaol isn't as bad a guy as everyone likes to think).
Okay, I was firmly on the Chaolaena bus for the first two books but Chaol just pissed me off so much in this book that I've decided I don't ship them anymore. Definitely don't ship Rowan x Celaena as anything other than platonic best buds (although don't get me wrong, I LOVE ROWAN). Still unsure about Celorian though..... So at the moment I would be perfectly happy if she was just a kick-ass queen without a love interest, even though that probably won't happen
In the first two books I shipped Dorian and celeana and the beginning of the third, but when sorchsa and Dorian got together it made me sad, but then I started to ship Rowan and celeana, also sadly because I knew he couldn't go back with her, but then they broke his blood oath and everything was happy until sorchsa died and Rowan didn't come back with her and now I don't know what to do with life
So true. I really liked the fact that Caelana had her first time with Chaol... but I was just so irritated that he sent her away. Even though his intentions were good. But hell, Dorian? He didn't even try! F him! Agggh. I really hate hiiim!
OMG yes! When he said "Do you want me to fight for you?" and she replied "I want you to leave me alone" I was sooo annoyed! Part of me thinks she chose Chaol because she felt bad for him... Dorian always got what he wanted, so I think she wanted to give the underdog a chance.
i've always shipped chaolena more than doraelin and i really love rowaelin. but personally celaena/aelin can end up with chaol, rowan or dorian and i wouldnt mind.
I don't think she'll ever truly forgive him for the part he played in Nehemia's death - but she'll feel enough pity for him to try to look at him as a friend, but never again as a lover.
Lilly sabella I know right, I just could get into them so most of the time I just skipped them or read bits. I know there are probably a lot of people who loved the witch chapters but I just didn't really enjoy them.
Am I the only one who thinks Celaena and Dorian aren’t suited for each other for the RIGHT reasons? Don’t get me wrong, I’m Team Dorian but not Team Celorian. If he’s going to overthrow his father, he needs someone who will be committed to him 100%. A girl who is his friend before she is his girlfriend/lover/whatever: FRIEND FIRST, LOVER/GIRLFRIEND/WIFE SECOND. This is what Dorian needs and sorry but Celaena isn’t it. She has obligations to her country and her people, this may interfere with any potential future she may have with Dorian. Anyway, besides QOFS, they’re only two books left, three, or more, how are they supposed to fall in love with everything else going on? I AM SORRY TO SAY THIS but it may take a while before Dorian decides moves on; it won't be easy for him to move on. Why? Because it was never about the romance but what Sorscha represented. Celaena, in my opinion, made him think about rebellion while Sorscha (more so) made him want to do something about it (my opinion). Sorshca’s death made him a man, maybe Celaena will be the one to complete him in the end, but I don’t know. If you think about Sorscha’s death and what it’ll mean to Dorian in the end may interfere with Celaena and Dorian, or bond them, depends what Maas decides. Also, this whole Chaol thing, that needs to be settled. Dorian needs to make peace with Sorshca’s death, let her go, and Celaena needs to make peace with Chaol before anything is to happen between her and Dorian, more importantly if they’re to be mates. But that won’t happen…hopefully. I don’t understand why Team Chaol fans are so worried, its sooooooo obvious he’s endgame. Or Rowan Or someone else or her, I wouldn’t fret over if I were you. Anyway, Maas said she had made major changes and I think Dorian being endgame is one of them. If they do end up together, I think it’ll be more on the political side rather than true love-which worries me. "You don't need true love to have a happy ending." This may be the case for Celorian. He’s faced enough rejection and loneliness and honestly, I believe Maas will to screw him over in the end; I’m ready for it. Or maybe Maas choose this particular moment to give in the spotlight and show readers he’s not a wuss. He has A LOT in him, MUCH to prove, the spotlight will be about him now and he may become the main character, second to Celaena instead of snippets in random chapters.
I WAS SO TEAM CHAOL DURING CROWN OF MIDNIGHT. But the way he was talking about how "he doesn't know who she is anymore" and "if he could take away her magic he would" i really didnt like that and i was so excited when dorian called him out for it... definitely one of my favorite parts in the book. SO NOW IM #TEAMCELORIAN
I'm still Team Sam and I feel like it's going to be that way forever. I just love him so so so so so much and I've never ever been so sad over a character's death. So excited for QoS
So I haven’t read the book and I was scrolling through the comments to learn more about the book and then I saw this... I don’t know what I think anymore 😂
I've always hoped she'd end up with Dorian! Their dynamic seems to be more on equal footing compared to her relationship with Chaol. Dorian and Celaena not only challenge each other to think for themselves and question everything they've ever known, they have the kind of friendship that helps strengthen each other. They understand each other: they understand what it's like to be different, to lose people they love because of the king, and the struggles they face every day knowing their identities cannot be hidden forever. Chaol, on the other hand, seems to look down on her too much, and is constantly surprised by her strength as if it is unnatural that she's not a woman doing 'lady-like' things such as looking pretty for the court and frolicking about in dresses and the gardens. He also has this tendency to expect her to change, and not be a 'monster'. And even though he knows that she has lost her family, her home and her people, he still expects her to not lead a rebellion to free the rest of her people, or fight back against HIS king. He also doesn't like that she saves him, and would rather die than bruise his manly ego.
I felt like such a psychopath when I manically laughed about Sorshas death. I was SOO happy I was just anticipating her death and was mentally screaming for the guard to bring down the sword.
Also i really want Aideon and Rowan to meet. It would be epic. They both are destined to protect Caleana and it would just be hilarious, them in a non romantic way fighting over to protect Caleana.
I'M TEAM CELORIAN ROMANTICALLY BUT ROWAN AND CELAENA HAVE THE BEST FRIENDSHIP I'VE EVER SEEN AND I SHIP THEM AS LIFE PARTNERS. this book made me cry on multiple occasions.
I absolutely love Rowan, and I would love to see a relationship between him and Celaena, but I feel for Chaol. However, for the majority of the book, I didn't want Chaol and Celaena together because he just couldn't love Celaena wholly, like Dorian said. I love Dorian and Celaena's relationship and I believe they could create an amazing kingdom, and they would be an amazing couple. But I have stronger feelings towards their platonic relationship than their romantic relationship. But, we have three more books to go, and I am so excited to see what is coming. (:
I hated the Manon parts haha I literally skipped them all. I ship Chaolaena, but Chaol honestly needs to get his act together. Plot twist: Celaena picks Rowan over Dorian AND Chaol HAHA Edit: I am literally obsessed with Manon Blackbeak after I reread HoF and I cannot believe I skipped those parts! And lol, my plot twist prediction was accurate
I thought it was funny how excited you were for Sorscha to die LOL I was crying my eyes out during that scene. Also, I'm Team Chaol, so now I'm starting to sweat a little xD
My favorite part was when Dorian called out Chaol for picking and choosing which parts of Celaena to love and not accepting her for who she is. I was like PREACH Celorian 5ever ❤❤❤
Honestly, i used to be major chaolena trash but now i'm rather good with aelin and rowan together. and don't get me wrong i love dorian like so much more than i did before, but i think him and aelin are better off friends. so i guess that means i just have to have dorian all for myselfffffff :)))))))))) 😂
Just because im on "Team Chaol" doesn't mean I don't like Dorian, Dorian is awesome!!!! I just like Chaols relationship with Celeana (not how you spell her name)
Readsforfun 1 I feel the exact same way, I love Dorian too but he and Celaena together wasn't anything special to me but Celaena and Chaol are everything!
Me too! I was so upset when she died :( I also had a theory Sorscha was Yrene from The Assasin and The Healer and she changed her name for saftey reasons, but I feel like Celaena would have recognized her.
The relationship never bothered me either (which is strange because I am a firm Dorlaena shipper). I enjoyed Sorscha, she was kind and really helped Dorian out. I knew she was going to die and I just couldn't believe it was so brutal and quick. And IN FRONT OF DORIAN!!!!! D':
My favorite part was when Celaena almost burnt out at the campfires. I love Rowan (Team Dorian, though) so I loved when he was taking care of her. I was really hoping they'd have like a small, one-book relationship like Dorian and Sorcha. And I also think Celaena will go go back to Chaol in book 4 or 5, but will end with Dorian :D
Anyone think the stories in Assassin's Blade will become important again? Like Celeana owes this guy and has to kill the arachnes or something? And what about the pirates? I'm so excited for the next books!
For all three books and novellas, I didn't really have a ship I was torn between the two, but I just reread throne of glass and I'm so in love with Dorian. Idk if it's cause I listen to it on audible and gave me a different feel but I'm all for celaena and Dorian like she can't be with anybody else...unless Sam came back to life lol
Aelin's names... Imagine a tomb for her.... Aelin Ashryver Galathynius Elentiya Gordaina Celaena Sardothien Fireheart Fire-breathing-B**** Queen Heir of Fire Queen of Shadows Empire of storms... And so much more..... XDDD
I'm binge watching all of these because I've just discovered them & they're fantastic!!!!! Weirdly i remember not really shipping Aelin with either Dorian or Choal but after Heir of Fire I was (and remain) a hardcore Rowaelin shipper. I just didn't really care about the other two in terms of their relationships with Aelin, but their friendship is awesome & i love it brotp
Celaena said she would've always picked Chaol no matter what. And if Dorian can move on that quickly to someone else then I'm sorry but Chaolaena is life 😂
My favorite parts has to be Abraxos smelling the wild flowers, Celaena freeing Rowan from the blood oath, When Dorian was talking to Chaol about acceptance of his magic. Love Love this books.
I literally don't understand how anyone could still ship Chaol and Celaena. It was touched on so strongly in this that Chaol couldn't accept her for who she was and that was why they couldn't be together. IT BOTHERS ME SO MUCH THAT PEOPLE STILL SEE THEM AS AN OPTION LIKE CELAENA DESERVES SO MUCH BETTER ALFJALDNALXBBE
really enjoyed your booktalk, except for that whole team dorian thing bc NOO, TEAM CHAOL/CHAOLAENA! CELAENA AND CHAOL WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHER AND CHAOL IS THE ONLY real CONTENDER!!
"He's not green." - Christine. That made me laugh so much. I think my favorite part starts on page 365 (I love it so much I know the page) It's when Rowan sees Celaena's back and finds out that she was in Endovier and he is so angry and she doesn't understand why he left. I love their friendship so much. I also did not like Sorscha for some reason. I don't know so when she died I was super happy.
I prefer Chaol to Dorian. I don't think the people of the continent would enjoy having Dorian and Celaena rule the entire continent like the king wants to do. I also don't think Celaena would want that, and that she'd like to put the kingdom back to how it was before the king tried to rule over everyone. But I also think Chaol messed up his chances. It is possible that Celaena would forgive him but I highly doubt it. I think it'd be super interesting if Celaena turned them both down bc boys are too much trouble and she can be queen and kick butt without a man
I first thought Rowan was like this really big guy that looked like a creepy bear, then he became like the love interrest and I was like... I don't think I'm picturing him in the right way... I'm re-reading the series by the way, love it so much and love you, you're great Christine. I've had a bit of alcohol... this is just the best thing to watch right now, love it (laughing my ass of (quietly (family is sleeping))). Rowan looks a lot better than I thought btw (looked him up on internet)
