alphasqurriel99 Galatian Royal guard are Mercenary Galatians trained to fight in a greek fashion for the Egyptian Pharaohs. They are similar to how French kings employed Swiss guards in the 18th century. It has to do with putting down rebellions, Galatians were far more likely to kill other Egyptians if they needed to rather then other Egyptians.
yeah ikr? But I think it's [maybe] because Galatian Royal Guard got trained by Egyptians/egyptian warfare or something that soldier's in Galatia couln't because they didn't have the recuired military advancement or something like that
Galatia is king of the low and mid-tier swords and versatility. Their Galatian Swords beat all other low-tier swords, their Legionaries beat all other mid-tier swords. The Syrians are the best archers in the game adjusted for price. They have great hybrid skirmishing cavalry , cost-effective spears with cavalry counter tactics and can very reliably beat other barbarian armies because of their elite skirmishers and ability to destroy mid-and low-tiers. Those Oathsworn og down fast when Celtic Warriors , Tribals, Chosen and Followers die to Legionaries if used correctly and supported by javelin cavalry and Syrians. The only downside is the lack of mid-tier cavalry - 2 Cappadocians is not enough, but together with the Raiders a very capable combo. In my opinion, top tier together with Boii.
The Suebi or Suevi were a large group of Germanic peoples who were first mentioned by Julius Caesar in connection with Ariovistus' campaign in Gaul, c. 58 BC. While Caesar treated them as one Germanic tribe, though the largest and most warlike, later authors such as Tacitus, Pliny and Strabo specified that the Suevi "do not, like the Chatti or Tencteri, constitute a single nation. They actually occupy more than half of Germany, and are divided into a number of distinct tribes under distinct names, though all generally are called Suebi"."At one time, classical ethnography had applied the name "Suebi" to so many Germanic tribes that it appeared as though in the first centuries A.D. this native name would replace the foreign name "Germans"
Oh - and Oathsworn only have a 40% chance of blocking missiles - Heavy Shot + Precision shot will kill them quickly, allowing Legionaries to finish them.
Depends on the scenario. Syrians, with Heavy and Precision Shot are more cost-effective in dealing damage than both Cretans and Cimmerians. Cimmerians are better against cavalry. Cretans are the worst of the three by far due to cost, lack of armour and Precision Shot. Cimmerians are better against lightly armoured enemies, Syrians are better against heavily armoured enemies. All things considered, Syrians can take and do the most damage cheaper than Cretans and Cimmerians.
Heir, i know this might not be the right place to ask this but... in your next beginner's guide video could you teach us how to efficiently use skirmishers, infantry and cavalry? I mean, the way to micromanage them, how to position them, etc. I have trouble with skirmishers because I end up having a ton of friendly fire casualties and after the infantry engages in melee i dont know what to do with them anymore. My cavalry gets zoned easily too :( I saw your past vids and they have been helping me improve a lot. I'd like to know how to efficiently issue attack orders with the infantry if possible. I tried with the lock-group attack order but things get messy... Thank you very much for all these guides and videos.
I never understood why they don't have access to Galatian Royal Guard, or some equivalent high tier sword. I think having access to a Oathsworn like unit would seriously help Galatia.
Great video Heir! Galatia are my favourite faction, I think they're pretty versatile and are a fun faction to use. Most interesting faction to play as in campaign aswell.
hey heir! take your time to get better (health)! its not so important to get new videos if you have trouble recording. have a nice day! greedings from austria. (sry for bad english)
Play a battle using 10 levy freemen, then with lefttover money (Which you wll have after your insanely cost effective army) you can put upgrades on your infantry and missle units.
Heir you didn't mention that Galatian Legionaries have very heavy mass, to other barbarian mid tier's Heavy mass, making them far more deadly on a charge.
5 years late, but that's because they were mercenaries. They were employed by the Egyptians because foreigners would be way less prone to support revolts in any way, thereby making the royal Egyptians less prone to being harmed.
Maybe someone can help me. Does Heir use a mod to enhance the blood effect for the Blood e Gore DLC? Cause i have bought it but my blood is way less spectacular than him. I am loving those Faction Focuses, i always played the campaign, but now with Heir's help i am beginning my way into multyplayer with ease :)
I really hope your opponent doesn't take your commentary in the wrong way. Fact is, his play seemed to indicate that he was distracted, overwhelmed by micro or simply new to multi-player. Even if he is not "MLG" or knows what units to use in a given situation, leaving cataphacts standing idol and getting caught infantry multiple times tells me something was amiss here. Anyway, good video and hope you feel better soon.
