Feargal, great to see the 80s legend looking so well - love his music and he's obviously still got it - as she proudly admitted to us viewers how he got to "take her round the bean" 😁😁. Lucky man!
He keeps on popping up. What a great interview. Good for him. I saw him with the Undertones in Portrush in 1978 when I was working at Chesters. It was just as they were breaking, and their piece in the movie Shellshock Rock was recorded there that night. A really great live band. One of the best I’ve seen, and I’ve seen quite a few. I’m not sure he looks right in a suit and tie. It was jumpers and a parka in those days.
Feargal is a top bloke and I absolutely agree with his work here and the points he's making. No laughing matter. Having paused my intellectual development at around eleven years of age though, I confess I did lose it a bit at the phrase "he took me round the bean". I'm sorry.
A good river is hard to find. He needs to rerecord his song. The water table has been dropping for decades. I remember playing in the river that runs through St Mary Bourne in Hampshire. It was just as Fergal described teaming with wild life in the 60s. It's been dry for decades
He's obviously very passionate about the subject matter & I have absolutely no doubt that everything that he was saying in this video clip is very true. But of course like Feargal said I have no real doubt that ignorance will prevail.
I'm Irish from Derry too like feargal this is outrageous that water companies get away with this beautiful English rivers getting destroyed a crying shame it should be made illegal . The wonderful people from England should stop this immediately .
Well said Feargal.👍 Our much abused rivers are in a shocking state. This man is a hero in my book. Privatisation of water in the 1980s was and still is, a national scandal. The water companies need windfall taxes and big fines. The Environment Agency are funded by the taxpayer and are chronically under resourced. As they are a government agency, their PR department often talks as much 💩 as the water companies do.
Why would any country allow their government to sign over control of their water supply to a private company? The company will always choose profits over the common good.
