It could very well be about two women who were perhaps in love with each other and due to circumstances of yesteryears moved on without really saying goodbye. Beautiful song and I had a few best friends that over the years have lost contact with.
I can't find lyrics ANYWHERE and I can't figure out the line at 1:44 Does anyone know what it is? I love this song but even on Spotify they don't have the lyrics. I've searched google but no luck so far
anyone know the meaning to this song? I saw an interview were she was asked about LGBT rights and she referred the reporter to this song and spoke of the 70s being a different time. I've tried to find history on the song, but nothing.
This song was about her friend that when she was little. An when she grew up tried to contact but wasn't able to find her. So helen teddy wrote this song for that reason

So it turns out Helen did not write this one but still just as amazing. It was written by Danny Meehan and Bobby Scott for Wayne Newton and debut on his 1971 album How I Got This Way. Someone close to Helen or herself heard his version and decided to cover it. It's a message that is really meaningful and it's one of my favorite songs she ever recorded. She really hits the high notes.
