It says a lot for Helena's talent to be able to portray both someone as sadistic evil and twisted as Bellatrix AND someone as graceful and warm as the Queen Mother! And then to turn around and play someone as fun and quirky as Cinderella's fairy godmother? Genius!
I'm so glad that she managed to free herself from the shackles of her 'Merchant Ivory' typecasting to become such an eclectic and versatile actor. The interviewer needs to harness his ego and learn when to speak and when to listen.
I once worked in Glamis Castle, not by choice, I was assigned the work and couldn’t say no. This was the Queen Mothers residence, and when I was there, was very very busy. I may have watched this film they are speaking about, but it might be clips I’m thinking of, it’s difficult to tell under such obscure scrutiny. Are all Mrs Carters audiences so relaxed? LM
I love how concerned everyone is when that person commented "too bad she is sick" :D But (hopefully) I think he/she just means the sniffles. Or a cold. That's all I hope it is anyway..
I disagree slightly with Helena when she says George was weak, although "apparent" weakness is perhaps more accurate as a public perception. From a young age he faced an emotional battering each time he struggled with his speech. Then an additional emotional battering from negative feedback he might have recieved. No person can give you their own strength in such adversity; except perhaps through love & empathy, encourage another to show the strength they always had to stand up and carry on.
Lol, is it just me or does she sometimes seem kind of annoyed at the interviewer? I was a little bit! He kept saying "Lestrange" wrong and asking sort of weird questions...
Please.... as if being "Germanic" would be negative if it comes to pedigrees..... Actually most Royal Houses of Europe descent from German lines.... Bowes-Lion......
This interview looks as if Bonham Carter is doing us a great favour giving her interview, with her hot water bottle and speaking so quickly as if she’s bored stiff!!!! 😢why bother…..
We done a review a the King movie and also the Harry Potter. We didn't like neither. Too many english people in these movies all blah, blah, blah all the time.
the interviewer didn’t really let her speak. he kept putting in his opinions and wouldn’t let her pause to continue. she was also not as loud as he was
I don't think that Helena gives King George VI much credit. A person wont get help unless they want it. I agree with Helena that the Queen Mum had a strong personality. I think that she was very protective of those around her and very helpful to her husband. She was really good at PR. I think that the King had many good qualities that a lot of people over looked. They heard him stammer and they underestimated him. From what I read he was loyal, brave, determined and wise.
@MissLovesMusic2010 They probably figure she has enough success with her box office smashes like Harry Potter that where they will nominate her for a great performance in an occasional Indie film they'll never give her the award till way later, as a make up
