I cried. I spent my bday there and it was my “go to” for anything. The loved Anna Marie Island because it salvaged the history of the old beach look. Not like what Sarasota has done but it unfortunately is going to take money to fix it all. I’m afraid it too will find a way to build those stupid high condos or hotels. I hope to God not. It was PERFECT and I loved the people in that community!!! I’ll be praying for them all. And the Fran Maxon realtors!! I loved the cottages we stayed at. A lot of antiques in the restaurants. So cute and comfy. For the love of God, Please dont change the look it had!!!

Rich people on the beach get protection from looters. Ian hit and they went on the news and said they werent coming to help us so the looters ran wild. I was stuck in my storage unit for 4 days holding them off until i got phone service and could get someone to watch my back so i could get my stuff out

This will finish off the remaining locals who call this place home. Developers have been buying them out for years now so they can cater to those with lots of money. Anna Maria, Holmes and Bradenton beach will all go the same way. Many of the locals that lived in the small homes that were all over the place when I first came here forty five years ago have been living without home owners insurance because they just couldn’t afford it anymore. Just wait and see what replaces them.

Ft myers beach had 15 ft of water and we are up and running,,,3 to 4 feet is nothing ,,at least you have structures

Some of this video footage looks like Buffalo after lake effect snow. I feel for these people. There may not be any good way to rebuild this place unless you want the entire island to look like the boardwalk on the Jersey shore.

All he cares about is his ego because if he really cared about the people he would tell them to not rebuild. This will happen again and lives will be lost.

I hope everyone is okay! Saw some people that were really stupid and didn't evacuate. Dumb move endangering your family over laziness. Also It's kinda wild these people live on an island and seem surprised a hurricane destroyed everything. Common sense must have been sucked off the island during Katrina back in the day or something. Hope they can rebuild although it seems pointless unless they rebuild with something like this happening in mind for once. Considering Florida is probably gonna sink into the ocean eventually if global warming keeps up 🤷‍♂️ lived on the island for years and it's sad to see but if you didn't see this coming, I feel bad for you
