Helicopter in Iranian president's convoy suffers ‘hard landing’ in East Azerbaijan province

Iranian state television says a helicopter in the convey of President Ebrahim Raisi had a 'hard landing,' without elaborating.
According to a report in Reuters, rescuers are trying to reach the site where the helicopter landed in the East Azerbaijan province of Iran while travelling with the president.
The country's Foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian was also reportedly with the president in the helicopter.
Al Jazeera’s Resul Serdar joins us live on the phone from Tehran to discuss the latest updates.

He furthermore said that helicopters don’t have the luxury of being able to easily fly above the weather as fixed-wing aircraft can. So, they are blaming the weather.

Well, it would seem that the burnt-out wreck has now been found (it was a *_very_* hard landing indeed), and there are no survivors. Iran's president, Ebrahim Raisi, is dead, as is his foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. Nine lives were lost in this crash.

The Iranians are saying the helicopter with the Iranian president's party was forced to make an emergency landing due to weather conditions which are now hampering search and rescue attempts. The weather today was cloudy with light rain (Weather Channel). near Jolfa, on the border with the Republic of Azerbaijan where the "hard landing" happened. This is not the type of weather that could force a helicopter down or hamper search and rescue efforts. Would the Iranians ever lie, or cover up what has happened?
