Helikon-Tex Matilda Bergen style backpack.
The Helikon Tex Bergen is a Bergen style backpack, the Bergen has been used successfully by the military for many years and gives you quick access to your important gear located in the outside pouches.
The outside sewn on pouches makes it easier to organize your pack for any day or multi day hike or bushwalk.
With attachment points on the bottom of the pack you can add your sway, bedding, shelter etc, saving space inside of your pack.

Maybe the Bergen could be the summer pack and the Matilda the winter pack for the need to carry extra gear for warmth . Just a thought . Good review Clive , thanks .

Oh Clive, sorry forgot to reply earlier. I'm very happy with the Matilda and use it as a potential bug out bag/winterbag. However, I use it slightly differently, I use it in conjunction with the Helikon Tex Foxtrot MkII which carries my heavier or item that I need quicker access too, and the Matilda for larger lighter bulkier items for example: bedroll, winter sleeping bag, hammock etc. It also allows for a more modular system, if I need to ditch the Matilda I'm still left with the Foxtrot. I tend to also attatch the E&E pouch as well as the Bushcraft Essentials pouch to the Foxtrot and I have modified it with an add-on Belt (I believe they call it a combat belt? From Helikon ) which is wider and has more attachment points for Mollie. I would be happy to send you a few pictures if you're interested ( I've not seen this done on RU-vid yet) :) ATB, Max!

TBH I'd strongle consider cheap Chinese Ebay molle pouch to put on waist belt to keep your snakebite compression bandages where you can get them instantly

Josh, that's not a fair question lol I love the burgen which I have used a lot. I have not had chance to use the Matilda as much yet. So far with testing the Matilda, there looks like there won't be much between them. All the best. Clive
