Man, no body explains this stuff better than you! I appreciate the courage to not totally wash past the technical nuance in an explainer video like everyone else does, I feel a much more confident understanding in how it works and how I can affect my sound this way.
Very good explanation sir! As you said, tone is very subjective topic As a Helix user that quite often searching information on the net, I found some people said that helix tones are thin, compressed and, because of that, struggle to stand out in the live band mix So, based on your explanation, I think these people supposed to lower this Bias Parameter to make the tones less compressed, more definite intonation of each string and more stand out in the live band mix!
I never could stand Vox or Orange amps. I just find their sound displeasing. I do like Fender cleans, Marshall and Revv amps in the Helix though! The only Mesa I ever played that I liked was the Lonestar Special but apparently they had a reliability issue so I avoided it. Now I just use the Helix and I love it!
the only reliability was that it would chew through rectifier tubes quickly, but they'd supply you with NOS ones that would last way longer, or you could simply flip the switch and use the solid state rectifier option and never have a problem
Great way of explaining this stuff. New…ish to helix and I have never been able to really wrap my head around what this stuff actually does. Thank you. Where is video 3 for sag and bias X?
Thank you! COVID disrupted up my schedule for these videos, and I had to move on to other videos, but I'll be finishing up the series soon. I'll finish up with the deep amp model settings, and then show some tricks on how to make the installed cabs sound more realistic so you don't need to tie up DSP with IRs. (Unless you want to. I don't.) Thanks for watching the channel!
@@MooreMusicGuitars Thank you for your reply on this. I have to say I have learnt more from your two videos than any other I have seen. I even sent a link to a few friends that also have Helix so they can have a look and learn more about the amp features. I totally understand with regards to other priorities so don't worry about it. I'm happy to wait as long as it takes...thanks again for your time and great work on this.
