I was always looking towards buying an
0 gauge large diesel locomotive, HelJan
provided the perfect specimen with the
latest class 37/0 in BR green with the
split headcode boxes.
After taking her to bits and installing a Loksound 5XL decoder combined with an
EM-2 speaker plus a pair of spare 40x20
speakers on the secondary output.
This gives a rich sound and the high tones
are more pronounced.
Further modifications where cab lighting and
separate lights behind the headcode, giving
each character it's own lightsource.

Sounds fantastic,the EM2 speaker does an excellent job with the low sounds,but always falls short on the higher frequencies,you have the best of both worlds.I too am a newbie to o gauge,but not sure if i have the nerve to risk installing sound in case i mess it up.A video on how you did it,would really help!

It was well worth the added costs of a premium speaker, the smaller speakers I had laying around in the parts bin, these where all unused. The EM-2 is placed in the fuel tank, there is plenty of space there, both small 40x20 speakers are mounted facing down either side of the decoder pressed down slightly into the loco frame kept in place with blacktack. I've used a Loksound XL with screw terminals since this was to me the easiest option.

@@RJdeVries84 Thanks for that,just picked up a class 31,lots of bits to glue back on! Heljans quality control is non existent.

I'm sorry to hear that, I've been fairly lucky so far, my 37 had just a sandpipe loose in the box, it wasn't glued at all. My 41xx (steam) was presented on a plinth and had no issues what so ever. I'm always somewhat worried about shipping damage, since I live in the Netherlands all of the stock is shipped over with the added risk of damage, been very lucky so far.
