Hi Robin! I must say that seeing you explaining how this amp works is very interesting. I hope you get the most out of it since it is an investment and not a toy. Don't feel bad because you had to do something you thought you'll never do but sometimes is necessary, I would recommend if you tested and works for you, do a video with the name and model of the amp and do a honest review, that may bring different views to your channel, who knows but in the future some other amp or audio equipment related company may want your opinion on their products. Unboxing’s are a great way for RU-vidrs to live vicariously through others (its like Christmas everyday), embrace the ridiculousness (it’s where all the fun is at) LoL. The (honest) review that follows is always nice as well, it helps us decide whether or not to spend money on a particular product. It looks like a great little amp but it would be nice to know how it actually performs, maybe in a follow up video? Great video as always 👍

Might be the volume knob (Potentiometer) is dirty....take the knob off and spray some tuner cleaner on it real good...then rotate the hell out of the knob.

My two main hobbies are RC aircraft and vaping, both of which demand a knowledge of lithium batteries, so here's a couple tips that might be helpful if you're not an expert. Sorry if this is long, but it's important. First, if you take more than a month off, store your batt at about 60-70% charge. Lithiums don't like to be stored at full charge. Second, lithium batteries have what is called a C-rating, which is basically derived by a simple formula and is a measure of how many amps of current they can handle on a contiuous basis. Exceeding the C-rating will drastically shorten the battery's life. Factory lithiums, espeically those included in Chinese electronics, often come with cheap lithiums with an insufficient C-rating. So even if the amp itself is rated for 80W, (another thing they often lie about), a too low C-rating will prevent you from getting the full power, and/or shorten your battery's life. In extreme cases, they can heat up and even catch fire. (hence the "exploding e-cig" phenomenon of a few years ago) Also, if you have a "DC in" jack, it's easy enough to build or buy an external battery of whatever AH capacity you want. The sky's the limit if you know how to solder and it's WAY, WAY cheaper than a pre-built or replacement battery. There are online "Ohms Law" calculators you can use to find out what the current draw will be at various power (wattage) levels given a specific input voltage. That way, you will know what C-rating you will need so that your battery isn't being discharged at a higher rate than it was built for. You can also use an online calculator to figure out your current draw using the amp's documentation to solve for voltage and power in watts. The C-rating is used by multiplying the AH in milliamps by the C rating. So, for example, a 5AH batery (5000 ma) with a C-rating of 4 will handle a current draw of 20A. (5000 * 4 = 20,000 ma = 20A). There are YT vids that explain this critical battery parameter more thoroughly and the "Ohms Law" calculators will tell you what your discharge rate (in Amps or milliamps) is, given a specific voltage and power level (in Watts). Bottom line is that i would be shocked if your amp ran 3 hours. That would mean it was drawing just 1 amp at 20W with a 22V (6 battery) pack. If you ran it at 60W with a 22V battery, the draw would be 2.7A and it would barely last one hour on a 3AH pack. If your voltage is lower, it would draw even more current and your play time would be even shorter. It would take about 60V to get down to 1A current draw at 60 W, which would provide your 3 hours on a 3AH battery pack. So, if you get 3 hours use, either your voltage is super high, like 80V (a 22 battery pack) or the power is nowhere near the 80 watts advertised, which is what I suspect. In fact, I would bet money that the true output of that amp is really about 15-20 Watts RMS, which is a lot more than people realize. That is the one advantage of the old lead acid batteries. They had HUGE Amperage ratings.

Thinking you could have a 2nd recorder for the ambient crowd of the street or bar. Then when you get home, mix it at a volume that doesn't overwhelm the music track, but retains the live atmosphere? 🤔

If that record out is for a phone- you might need to get one of those cables with a TRRS, or a TRS connector. Usually with phones, they often require TRRS, which has 3 rings and is not super common, but they're available. I'm not sure, but if you're using a zoom recorder- you might have to run it with a TRRS male to XLR male connector. Not sure if your Zoom has XLR inputs. Also, you could also use the direct out on the back of the amp as well. Something tells me your problems just lie with the type of connectors you need.

Hello, Robin. I enjoyed your video. If the "record out" jack features a cell phone icon, perhaps it's not an ordinary jack. I hate to ask. But, what does the instruction manual indicate about that jack? I can't tell if it's 1/4" or 1/8". Is it a line level out? If so, is your recorder capable of handling line level? I look forward to hearing the direct record videos. Best of luck. Perhaps your old trainer amp is in need of some fresh transistor grease (i.e. thermal compound) on the power transistor(s).
