Before you bring the Pacific into the game, you first have to make it possible for you to carry out melee attacks with bayonets and for soldiers in the game to shout things or give orders on their own, like they already do in Red Orchestra 2
IMO I actually wouldn’t want people to be able to pick up weapons *BUT INSTEAD*, just simply be able to pick up ammo of of dead soldiers, caveat being they have to have running the exact same gun. NOW, this would cause a MASSIVE rework of the class system functionality I completely acknowledge, but imagine people intentionally redeploying or dying with the intent of kitting EVERYONE with MGs, snipers etc.
Not gonna happen. Over a year ago they promised us Polish/Finnish forces, but it took them half a year to give us the broken British and another half a year to fix the British. At one point, in around April-May of 2023, they introduced new animations and it COMPLETELY broke so many animations in the game. It wasn't just the bolt action animation bug, that same update had the grenade bugs and the arty reload bugs. And yeah, about the bolt action animation bug, it's honestly UNBELIEVABLE they let such a fundamental part of the game be broken. EVERY MAP one side is fighting as the Germans and the German's primary fighting rifle is the Kar 98k. How the fuck do they fuck up that bad is just unbelievable to me. Not being able to use the full 5 stinkin' rounds in your magazine and being only limited to 3-4 is ridiculous.
Especially mortars. Doesnt make any sense. It was the most used, useful and versatille unit in the battlefield during WWII. Not being implemented is something that unimaginable.
I’m tired of people bitching about El Alamein. It’s fun because the map plays different with other strategies. Seeing your opponents far away and out maneuvering them is great. The buildable field gun is great on this map. Smoke arty is useful, same with map positioning based on verticality.
I agree on that. I think the problem with newer maps is they push the strategy of the advanced player. Whereas SMDM/Carentan are so easy to play on. El Alemain forces players to think about flanks and overwatch. Foy is an interesting comparison, because it also is "just open field" but no one complains, - because the lines of attack are spelled out with ditch and road cover. I don't think it's the openness of the map that annoy people, but more the lack of an obvious "where should I go??". So they get shot, and don't know if they're meant to be winning or not, as they don't know where to attack. On Foy they know they just have to push on.
I believe El Alamein actually gives Armor an Advantage over Infantry solely due to how open it is, its one of the better balanced Maps in that regard because with how AT works and how general CQC the maps in the game are, Vehicles just generally suffer with that and lack of Infantry support(Blueberries doing blueberry things), It also has a more refined focus on being Patient and observing before moving to a different position instead of running along every hedge or tree row you see. The map is great as it is with my only gripe being how little cover there is on map edges and that there aren't too many mounds for infantry to hide in on the flatter sections
What to fix: Replace arty with mortars Make arty a commander ability Bipods fixed Optimization Thompson sights (us faction) Flamethrower rework Tanks need a rework What to add: Bren carrier Sub factions for all maps like how El Alamein currently is More maps for The UK and Soviet Union: Berlin, Leningrad, Rzhev, Seelow heights, Anzio, Caen, Sword beach, Factions: Italy 🇮🇹- Gela, Mareth Line, Operation compass battle of the camps Japan 🇯🇵- Okinawa, Guadalcanal, Pelilu Canada 🇨🇦 - Juno beach, st lambert, ortona
I agree that artillery needs to become mobile, but I don’t think it necessarily needs to be mechanised. I’d like to also see towed artillery being moved around by driving a supply truck, and then being deployed (or reattached to the truck) by an engineer using resources. The new mechanic would be to locate and then destroy the enemy artillery (sometimes with counter-battery fire from your own artillery). This is an important tactic in real war, and it would be cool to see it replicated in the game.
Artillery can't be mobile, because then you would be able to strike on the very last point of your enemy. There is a reason you can't do it, just to give teams chance of coming back. As you move forward, you have to transport your tanks further and further and time it takes to move to the point takes longer with each captured point and after taking 4th point, you just can't use artilery on your enemy point. Which means that enemy has very close distance from his HQ with his tanks and also he can use artillery, that's the way game is balanced. If you take that balancing mechanism, matches will become way more one-sided.
@@hehenoelo4858absolutely Imagine if artillery could shoot into the last point like on Utah Beach. And if they would introduce mobile artillery like tanks any smart person would just drive the minimal distance to shoot on targets. So artillery would kinda sit still in the HQ.
T17 stated the British content was done by the old developers as mortain was the first map they actually did themselves. They likely saw what blackmatter had for the British and rushed it however
Everything I've found online going off of other peoples research using LinkedIn and other stuff they likely have anywhere from 10-50 people but closer to probably 20
Confirmed to be less then 20. Altough the stuido working on HLL, I forgot the name, recently had openings for a few positions so that number might have risen
the charackters need to speak in game like in red orchestra. the bullets of mp‘s need to be more realistic (one shot at deadly body area). fixed garrisons. more maps like •berlin •leningrad Before they bring the Pacific into the game, you first have to make it possible for you to carry out melee attacks with bayonets and for soldiers in the game to shout things or give orders on their own, like they already do in Red Orchestra 2
Notice how they broke the loudout screen, just so they could have the skins for purchased uniforms up front (locked on mine of course). So now that's broken and it takes ten seconds to open the loudout, click the janky scroll, click again because it's backwards, and find the right unit. Breaking the functions, because you wanted to update something no one asked for is a bad sign.
One of the biggest downfalls of HLL in my opinion is its lack of user controlled Airplanes which would be the counter to everything. However if they added them you'd have to beg some random dude for one and a crew to fly it so is the juice worth the squeeze?
I really hate that map. It's not broken, but bad for two main reasons. The buildings are remote and only one capture zone is in urban areas, leaving little variation in the endless miles of "field with bush". And terrible long range visibility, with almost no elevation and a hedge every 100m, and you can't even scan the flanks, because all the fields are overgrown. It's like running around in a bush simulator. If they cut all the bushes at least, and reduce the trees on the hillside areas, it would allow for so much more variation. Currently it looks lazy, with copy n paste vegetation assets spammed everywhere without any thought into your that affects play.
Other than the obvious lag issues on the map, i dont get why people complain about el alamein and not foy, i consider foy a much worse version when it comes to entirely too big and too open. For anyone who loves foy id like to hear what your thoughts are
I like the mobile arty idea. It would be cool if it was a supply truck with arty hitched that could unhitch anywhere and then drop supply boxes to use as ammo, now that may be a bit much for hll but even your idea of just a arty vehicle itself is 100x better than the current artillery system
They could make artillery cost 5 instead of 3. Or even 10. Currently it's just very cheap to fire it endlessly. If the artillery had to be reduced to "fire ten shots from each gun on this mark" as a standing order, then that would work. (Making it 300 munitions). Then the recon would have no reason to camp, as the enemy needs to wait to afford to fire another barrage.
+200h in the game and the problem I have are the maps. Playing the same one over and over it's getting boring eventually. New weather or day time would help a bit lie with Omaha at night. We need something FRESH in this game.
What they really need to fix is the blur/pixelation that happens when you are running through vegetation/bushes/tall grass. It’s almost like the servers can’t keep up with the buffering from the vegetation. If it’s a night time map with a ton of woods… it’s almost unplayable on most servers.
I think you are right about mobile arti, I would also like to see motor teams. I think this would be a great addition at the squad level or as there own group.
that's the kind of video that makes people re think about the HLL and then people come and try Squad44 and all the things that are on Squad that they don't like in HLL, they want them changed and cry for it on discord when the real community have been playing the game for years now. For exemple artillery, is maybe a issue on HLL then never come to Squad44 cause it's called by a single guy that can stay in a protected area and camp there for the rest of the game. But why the community never complain ? cause it need communications that noobs don't know how to use, But with HLL playerbase coming to Squad44 they wanna change the game to make it like HLL but in an other game. It's a big "bruh" moment
Artillery is really not an issue in HLL, the biggest issue is lack of teamplay. Issue is that squad leaders can completly dont care what commanders order them to do, that squadmates can also ignore completly squad leader, that it takes forever to build any garrison, you have to drop supplies to build garrison in enemy territory, because teams are not even able to switch support roles to build garry in 30 seconds on enemy territory. Issue is that, when the point is taken half of the team is very often attacking locked enemy point. Those are main concerns, i would also add camera of the killer, which you would have access after some time, because some kills are really ridiculous, headshots through smokes and fog on the night map from 300 meters.
Great video. Agree with everything. A little torn on El Alamien. One of my favorite matches is on that map, but the others weren't great. It is too open. A fairly decent team can lock down the enemy easily. The artillery has never made sense. Some good gunners can just destroy everyone and your only fix.....be a babysitter and camp the guns.
El Alamein design flaws came from a verticality competition. For every 1 tall hill, they added another much larger ridge to combat it and ended up with what frankly feels like a mountain range rather than desert. Squads various Desert maps are great examples of desert done right. Ditches, depressions, wadis and small walled villages make for great gameplay. The flatter map with much lower hills and undulating terrain would be much better. Plus we need cheaper halftracks to facilitate more mechanzied pushes.
I think hill 400 and Stalingrad need a major overhaul,, both those maps are badass and have wayyyyy more potential!!! And once again the bridge in driel, sound like the titanic breaking apart in the middle of the Atlantic the entire match if your within 30m of it!!!! I can’t hear footsteps sometimes bc the bridge is contorting so bad!!!
I agree with a lot of what you say: new maps, new factions, better arty, better tanking, and basic fixes. However, i dont think skirmish is a bad thing at all. There is nothing wrong with trying new things, and skirmish is great for new players, and when you only got about 20 min to play. I think the game is great but needs a couple of quality of life updates.
When it comes to artillery you are able to protect yourself completly from recon teams to be honest, although that requires cooperation of more than 2 people on some maps. You can just surround area with barricades and barbed wire, so that recon team won't be able to hit artilery or even come close to it. From the other point, recon team can cooperate with their own team to blast that barbed wire and other structures. Obviously artillery played huge role in ww2 and it has to have huge impact on the game, if you say it should be changed, then you should propose in what way. Cause making artillery even weaker is not the answer in my opinion, when already in public games very often there is nobody playing artillery, since it becomes very quickly pretty boring and not that effective as it seems. Even if you know the location of enemy garrison and you target it with artillery, it takes about 7-8 seconds to shot a single artillery shell, which means enemy has on average few seconds to find cover after spawn on garrison to not die from artillery, which most of the time is enough.
El Alamein should not have a day setting. I think the map should be flat because it’s a desert but I think a way to fix the map is to add a sand storm that makes it easier to move around with out bing shot at. The only good games I had on El Alamein was in the dusk setting.
El Aleman was an open environment. It was a killing field for the offensive. Sure, we could shrink the map a little, but no. You shouldn’t change much else about it. It was a deadly environment.
I like El alamein i just wish it would come up in rotation more. My hot take is people are just playing the map wrong. You cant use the same tactics that work on purple heart lane. Its afrika! we need more mechanized infantry advances with halftracks and bren carriers, and infantry following behind tanks.
this is a race, race between The New Runner (hell let loose) and The undead (Postscriptum or squad44). if Squad44 could fix everything before hell let loose could catch up, then hell let loose would be dead.
I mean if they can add a machine gun on the half-tracks then how would adding that to a tank be any different? This always puzzled me when they said they weren't sure if it was possible they are either A, lying. Or B, don't know how to do it.
What to fix first…. Crashing, lag, stutter, VoIP, and menu bugs. All of this crap I listed is unacceptable 3 years later on Xbox. No more skins, maps, or vehicles until the game is fixed. Game breaking issues should be priority 1 over all the rest of the nonsense the other players that don’t have these issues are asking for.
The vote kick system is silly, team killing is abundant, the older players are incredibly toxic and act like they made the game whilst new players simply cannot grasp the mechanics. Its a weird mix of issues.
That’s because they (T17) paid several million for the IP and only intend to release DLC cosmetics to try and recoup their loss. There will never be actual content added to the game. I was a Kickstarter backer for Blackmatter. They were actually a decent dev team but never fulfilled their promises. They couldn’t pass up the money T17 offered and T17 has shown us they’re completely incompetent. They’re here for $$$ and nothing else. The reason we have the Brits & some half ass unoptimized maps is because those were already developed by Blackmatter during the acquisition but didn’t meet Blackmatter’s standard for release. T17 said “fuck, we have to give them something” and just released all of the rough drafts as if they did the development. I’ll say it again, there will never be any actual development done for HLL. You will never see Japan in HLL, you will never see mortars or artillery get fixed, you will never see additional vehicles, you will maybe get a few bug fixes, you will never see actual paratroopers, you will never see Italy, etc.
Put simply, the game is realistic, accurate artillery could change the course of a battle so yes, it would make sense that it has the same effect in game. And all this complaining about the maps, they use scans of the actual irl battlefields to make said maps, and I like it, don't encourage them to dumb this historically accurate process down
Cloud gaming needs to addressed too. How they are allowing people to play on outdated consoles is beyond baffling to me. It’s already been brought up to the devs to look into since Xbox has the most issues out of any platform.
Had to uninstall… loved the game but something happened about 4 months ago that made it really hard to optimize. My pc ain’t much but I can’t even play on low without it playing like shit.
Skirmish is trash mode. Should at least be 3 victory point on skirmish instead of one. Arty should be buildable and for Artillery sq only. 5 round mortar for mortar squads and a cooldown. No more skin DLC.
Remove arty. Even recon hates babysitting that 1 guy cause team bitches about it. Its boring for the prized slot of a recon player. Also, stop it with the dusk or foggy BS. They pulled that crap on El Ahm which KILLED THE POINT OF THE MAP. A map that is massive with long site lines turned into a 50m visibility map. Also, who wants to snipe in fog? they see you just as you see them....removes the point of a scope! It actually makes it worse having the scope. And can we please pick our kit items? Some might like smokes and not frags with their class. As a flare spotter, smokes are worthless to me and just a "im over here" beacon to use.
These are some of the worst takes I’ve heard , the el Ali main map, okay, the skinks, okay, but arty!? 3/10 pub matches have arty that annoys you how good it is.
