Del Toro was rewatching this and felt bad for Abe so he made a movie about him meeting another girl

​@@krajicsek13 Where did you get this information? /Gen I've seen many interviews and he has said he made shape of water due to the fact that he wished the 1970's movie "creature from the black lagoon" monster fell in love with the girl in the movie, and he wanted to show that kind of love.

@@sandboxman9174 If looking from the movie. In my opinion, Abe probably didn't. Because of seeing the Angle of Death is just only waiting for Hellboy and Hellboy's life and his death would have a huge impact on the human world. I'm not sure if she (Angle of Death) would save the Princess Nuala when Abe ask for yes or no? But What she needs in return or exchange from Abe if she can help the princess be raised. Before the princess leaves She had read Abe's thoughts and his felt. Of course, Abe knew what the princess' will be too. I guess maybe the princess wanted to leave peacefully. Because she has completed important missions.. That to stop Prince Nuada's big mistake. And the catastrophe of the human world that will occur from the golden army in this time. Although Abe could really be sad and tears flowed through. A way that he never expected to happen But I believe Abe can understand and accept the princess' farewell. To me, this clip is Abe's sweetness and gentleness. It is a character that may be the ideal person in a way that many people are looking for. And fans of the movie were in love with Abe's softness. And maybe even admiring Mr. Doug Jones goes, too.

There was too much references of the cómic, that people who don't read the cómics might not get it, the actors were fine but without Guillermo del toro this movie changed a lot.

@@MrPoste30 I'm glad it flopped, I'm sorry to say, since the director went on to say he would completely redesign Abe for the sequel and not follow the comics either. He said his Abe would be a "gangsta." Even comic book fans, I doubt you would consider him "Gangsta."

@@amandapike2477 okay treating abe as a ganster is a low blow even fir abe himself,then the this abe i love this abe his intelligence makes him more character and im sadly glad the new hellboy flopped cause without de Toro and ron pearlman that movie felt like a spin off at best , i love the 1st hellboy and i also love the golden army cause they supernaturally was a part of fantasy and enchantments and i like that.

@@kedaalpha9424 No its not. Its confirmed that the movie is not a prequel to the shape of water. Not to mention this romance is rather disturbing considering the girl is an elf (human with pointy ears) and Abe is a fish monster.

Abe was a human name Langdon who was born in the 1790s his body merged with a water god in the 1860s and that's how he became Abe. He's a lot older then the mute woman in that movie.

It was directed by the same guy. It also has the same guy wearing the fish suit
