Helldivers 2 gyroscopic motion controls are there but deserve to be better.
Sony must know their own hardware better, especially when other devs already implemented great gyro controls on Playstation
PlayStation Portal support is not there

I haven't considered the Playstation Portal. But yeah, the lack of a roll mode or a better orientation is terrible. Really nice video, keep it up!

Thanks! I think every ps5 game that supports gyro has to support PS Portal now and devs need to take switch as an example. For instance, quake 1 and 2 work great on switch and are terrible on ps portal.

Glad I found your channel, another PS5 gyro player. We need better support. MW3 Fortnite and The Finals now have the best gyro on the platform. All 3rd party games this is unacceptable. Great information.

Yeah. I noticed the floating camera was moving at a bit of a different rate to the rotation I think? Which caused a bit of weird secondary motion? Could be better but I'm really glad it's in there.

Oo, great vid! Love how you show what's going on with the video feed just behind you -- good balance of gameplay footage size on screen while still seeing you and all your communication with your hands and your controller. Thanks for the name-drop, btw XD I heard my name just as I was about to write saying that I'm glad you identify the importance of gravity vector considerations in handheld. I'm optimistic Helldivers II's gyro controls will improve at least a bit. And I'm at least very happy that it's in the game at launch. I think a lot of people missed the gyro in The Finals because they added it in a later patch, but it's really solid (with a little room for improvement, of course) Subbed

Thanks for the sub and your work on my favourite input type! As of Helldivers, let’s hope that they will do it but their excuse maybe that outdated engine they’re using, I was surprised how it even works that well all things considered (Autodesk Stingray, it was designed for 3DS MAX). I think it may also be fixed at the hardware level and default gravity vector must be set to “device” when connected using PS Portal. It will fix games like god of war and both quake games. But still, the state of things is much better now: more and more games support gyro. P.S. I am testing Finals now, it’s a shame that I don’t like the game itself 😎

@@fpsgyro Yeah, it's unfortunate that they didn't consider that "up" is different when your screen is in your controller. Would be nice to be able to fix that with a setting on the PS Portal

Definitely a good point on the gyro controls in HD2 (they're good but have room for improvement) but one thing I do have to point out is Arrowhead game studios aren't owned by Sony so it isn't a first party issue as you mentioned.

@@fpsgyro Yep, I think gyro updates will come in time & Sony would be fools not to back them since it's a much bigger hit than even AHGS themselves anticipated.

gyro aim is always jittery because humans are jittery when we hold things, put it on a table and slide it to truly test its jitteryness
