I tried the HMG out on bugs when it was first released, but found it a little awkward for anything outside of Charger kills, its small magazine, long reload and low ammo pool making it a little impractical as a general purpose MG. This time I had some more success with it as a medium enemy + Charger specialist however, with the Breaker Spray & Pray handling light enemies and Stratagems for Titans.
I still think it could do with a slight magazine buff (up to 100) and/or reload speed increase however, though the addition of the 3rd person crosshairs really does help.

Build:
Unlike the other MGs, the HMG doesn't really have the ability to sustain fire against hordes for very long, so I'm relying on my Breaker Spray & Pray for most of the light hordes, while keeping the HMG ready on max firerate to whip out on mediums and Charger asses. Stun nades make those Charger kills a little easier, so I'm bringing the Grenade Pistol for closing bug holes.
The HMG is a hungry boi, so I'm bringing the Supply Pack to keep it fed. That leaves a couple of Strats for Bile Titans - this mission had free Rocket Pods, so I decided to drop the usual 500kgs and bring an Autocannon Sentry and Railcannon Strike instead, the lock-on on all 3 strats getting around the call-in time penalty (in theory anyway). In practice, the Rocket Pods were still pretty iffy with their targeting - I think I still prefer it vs the Automatons where it hits more reliably. Otherwise, I'd probably stick with the ol' reliable 500kg and Eagle Airstrike or Orbital Precision Strike.
