I love how you can understand a threat with its music only : Bugs ? They’re crawling everywhere Bots ? You feels the rebellion of the past slaves on cyberstan Illuminates ? They are the predators and are filled with anger.
Agreed, personally I just idle at meridia whenever I do nothing, thought of me joining the game and looking out the window to see a fleet of illuminate ships is horrifying
*if* super earth could just setup an orbital ring that basically spawncamps the black hole. not to mention it is in the bug area, so it is unlikely that it replaces the bug location iwth illuminate, but spawns them in that southern area
@@Baugette_WarriorIt's near the bug area. They'd be coming into the former barrier planets with the deactivated terminid control systems. such as fenrir III, ereta prime, turing and probably the orion sector too. They might establish a foothold there before getting kicked out and then coming back in from the south, probably into the rigel sector.
@@mikezacowski8078thats most likely cause theres just no flag code for it in game. It would probably break a system if they marked it down as anything else
The true horror of the illuminate is they have the ferocity of the bugs with better technology than the bots, they are literally a mix of both factions, except they take the best traits
@@coda_7976 I've heard first galactic war vets say that they're more cunning, using hit and run techniques, sheilds, mind control, even walls, and that you constantly have to be on your toes with them.
I saw a comment on a similar video that sums the factions up pretty well Bugs:Click LMB to shoot Bots:Press C to crouch behind cover Illum: Press Shift to Run
this music is such a tone shift from the other themes we have already and i love it. its gonna make things so uneasy when we finally face off against these guys
@@yaboi5011 Man, I was so wrong. I was misinformed. I never actually returned to this comment in a long time, lol. It would of been cool if they just popped out of nowhere.
I was there. Many years ago. Their power puts the other 2 to shame. Shields, death rays, mind control. Idk how we survived the first wars. Super earth itself was threatened many times
@@mitchellpolinop7650 idk when you started playing helldivers 1 But we lost super earth more than 20 times and there were 130+ different wars (in the game, if we lost or won it reset) Also the shortest one was 6 days because these mfs stormed towards super earth and didn’t stop
I can only dream about that fateful day when the first batch of helldivers lands on an Illuminate controlled planet. Will it be firefight from the beginning? Will there be an eerie quiet as they wander about an empty drop zone, only to be attacked from the darkness? Will that squad survive? I can only wait and wonder until the day comes.
I think that feeling of I am not supposed to be winning and yet using OP stratagems to annihilate enemies is what really gives the dopamine hit. The odds are stacked against you and you have heavy ordinance so you are winning!
The part in "Tripod Fight" around 13:04 with the dropping strings are just Soooooo delicious. Very un-democratic..... but sheesh they got vibes. I'm ready to eat Calamari... They sound PIIIISED
We though Mavelone Creek was bad? We're going to be left with worst PTSD than a Mavelone Creek/Vietnam soldier. Can't wait to tell my grand kids about the battle of the Illuminate. On top of that, these guys actually use hit and run tactics. We're so fucked.
The abscence if heavy armor is the biggest illusion of safety fighting the illuminate will provide. Only the most determined helldivers will be able to go through their mind-foolery.
Thanks to a training accident, I had the persuasion part of my brain removed, so no one can mind control me. There are only three things I know. Super earth good Not super earth bad Third thing
13:53 I honestly think a lot of the beat on this track is the Illuminate warping out of the Meridia Black Hole, potentially heading to the Southern Regions. If this is actually the sound file for a live event of sorts, I think this would make a lot more sense.
These mfs were responsible for so many lost wars back in Helldivers 1 and even when we focused on them till we pushed them to their home planet, the other 2 factions wouldve been at super earth by that time. And these guys were challenging to fight because they will separate your squad and pick you off one by one.
i hope when the illuminate are revealed, it isn't explicitly said what they are for a day or two to add to the chaos. like imagine diving solo onto a suspiciously quiet foggy planet to check out the unknown threat that came from the black hole/meridia, and then witnessing the horrors in full force
I really hope they don't promote them in advance through trailers and stuff. Just one day Helldivers hop onto the game and come across an emergency broadcast and told to drop onto planets with an unknown enemy and all you hear is this music...
The Helldivers 2 community isn't ready for the illuminate. They're absolutely terrifying like a hunter attacks and stalker attack and flee. There will be countless amount of complaints about this faction. I'm preparing my mind to fight these guys again. I promise you this will be a Horrifying battle that will drain you more than Malevelon Creek did.
If they return with the same skills they had years ago in the first great war... a mission of difficulty 4 will be comparable to a mission of difficulty 9 of bugs, just thinking about their return gives me gosebumps. I just hope they haven't improved as much technologically as the cyborgs, now called automatons... Good luck Helldivers 🙂
Hopefully we took all of their technology and they can only recover half of what we took! Until we meet again! I may have to team up with He-Man if they do turn up..
I'm calling it, they can see through the other side of the Meridia Black Hole and are preparing to launch an attack straight to Super Earth. We'll have to defend Super Earth and push them back, where we will find their forces have taken up the bottom part of the map.
Tbh, in Helldivers 1 I was struggling to get used to Illuminate fights but failed everytime. I couldn't tell which one is what, couldn't avoid their laser beams. Now that a lot of Helldivers struggle to avoid automaton laser bullets.... I can't imagine how difficult Illuminate would be. Even in Helldivers 1 which the enemies attacks from only in the screen space it was difficult. Now in the vast open space...? Brothers and Sisters of Freedom, I am very afraid of them.
Expect medium armor, low health, energy shields, teleportation, invisibility, and an emphasis on controlling movement with energy barriers and control reversal.
@@catfwish oh trust me the people who complain about the Bots being too hard and left the game saying "I'll come back when the illuminate arrive" are going to come back play One mission get absolutely bent over and FUCKED by The invisible energy shield wearing tentacle squid men and then they will cry and it will be glorious
@@jamesThebulbmin it's really stupid the game is a hard game if it wasn't meant to be hard the reinforcement mechanic wouldn't be a thing and it's very simple the difficulty goes terminids to automatons to illuminate, meaning if the automatons are too hard for you then the illuminate are going to bend you over and shove their tentacles up your ass the moment you arrive, during helldivers one the community would either immediately focus down and destroy the illuminate as fast as possible or they would railroad the entirety of super Earth super easily (the shortest war in helldivers history was when the illuminate won and took super Earth *in 3 DAYS* )then there was the usual cyborg vs bug fight but funnily enough bug divers are not a new concept with the sequel most people liked fighting bugs so after the two factions that were actually a threat were dealt with the player base would actually try and prolong the war so that they could keep fighting bugs
The illuminate are going to be the hardest foes we have faced since even before the first galactic war, I’ve been told stories by vets of the first war how bad the illuminate were and in the time they’ve been gone they’ve probably got better technology, better than the bots (cyborgs as well for that matter), and will have the ferocity of the bugs. Watch out fellow divers.
I remember playing a little bit of Helldivers 1 many years ago, and only want bug-diving. I dread to imagine the amount of power the squids wield into war, if the first wave was only a scouting party...
@@FreemanicParacusia Only if an illuminate illusionist has recently altered my brain chemistry. Besides it's a 500kg, take five steps and you'll be fine ™
Gramps: I AM GETTING THE FLASHBACKS Grandson: Gramps, there are no squids, there are no big worm bugs, and there are no half men half robots. Gramps: THEY ARE COMING SON, THEY WILL EAT YOU ALIIIIIVE!!!!!!
I got a feeling all of their units will be the old units but more horrifying and twisted, like because of their thirst for revenge their whole society turned mad
Originally I looked at the illuminate logo like a curved visor with an engraving above it. . . But now I see a terrifying eye with a malicious grin, staring back at us.
I believe that song will play when the Illuminate finally invade and reveal themselves. I can imagine a cutscene playing like when the Automaton fleet arrived or when we collapsed Meridia. They will come pouring out of the black hole…
i wonder if the illuminate will serve the same role as helldivers 1, being fierce and having the most devastating arsenal but having the weakest armor of all
Not sure if anyone if anyone will read this, but wow does the ambiance at 0:50 give me goosebumps. Especially the part at 1:03, absolutely phenomenal! You get the sense that the Illuminate have been there since the beginning of time, an ancient civilization hellbent on revenge after being cast from the galaxy back in the first Galactic War. Since the second Galactic War takes place over 100 years after the first, most Helldivers of today would have no idea who the Illuminate are, where they came from, or how to deal with them, making their arrival even more terrifying.
@@oldstyle5114yeah but thanks to us opening a wormhole that go who knows where it goes to and soon allow the illuminate to go to our galaxy and the illuminate who are filled with fury and hated are going to destroy us all oh sweet lady liberty defend us from the wrath of the squids
Cultists with tech that seems like magic our arc weapons shield generators plasma weapons and even ftl jumps weren't made by us we took it from them I hope you got the cutting edge armour
The themes for the bugs and the bots each get you hyped. They tell you that this evil is strong, but you are the only one who can fight it. But this theme? Horror. Fear. What you are facing is thousands of years ahead of you, and it will make that KNOWN. You'll never be truly safe while on a world with the Illuminate, and they will teach you that lesson via fire.
theocracy isn't something we've seen in the helldivers universe, and the song has a lot of... ethereal sounds that don't match with anything from either game and their leaked units either have ascetic-style robes or are quite ornate
A cult of Cthulu is technically a Theocracy. That said, they could also be Technocrats and rely on interwoven systems that are ascended beyond their own biological understanding. Or both; A machine god, if you will.
yeah, in hd1 they had massive ai constructs that were incredibly powerful, and a hundred years have passed since the end of that war it's possible the great eyes could have advanced themselves to even more powerful levels and become venerated as gods by the illuminate a machine god sounds very possible
I honestly believe at one point very soon the Illuminate will just appear out of nowhere on multiple active combat zones. What for many will be simple mission to clear bugs or glass a bot base will become a nightmarish last stand with no hope of survival against the illuminate coming out of nowhere.
Imagine 50 illuminate and illuminate armored vehicles / air forces just charging you with technology you’ve never seen before and using you against your teammates were gonna be hella cooked when they arrive.
