The minute I heard the opening chants with that gorgeous picture fading into view I knew I was done for. Wrecked. D e s t r o y e d. Goddess where do I even begin - my song goddess singing one of my favorite Disney songs, at times sultry and enticing, at times raw and desperate, and all throughout so groundshakingly POWERFUL? (I mean godDAMN that note at the end, every hair on my body literally stood up as that note washed over me in all of its raw emotion and POWER.) Your voice carries a alluring yet haunting quality that brings out the obsessive undertones of the lyrics and it is *so* delicious. And oh goodness that VA - the little growl you had at the end with “burn down all of *Paris* “ like please just take me I’m not hiding, I’m literally flinging myself into your arms TAKE ME GODDESS. And don’t even get me started on the picture because the second that faded in my eyes were glued to the artwork as the song played. Flame!Lyra is so beautifully drawn with Priest!Raf nuzzling into her shoulder, and the flickering flames combined with your beautiful voice chanting and serenading me in the background was the most mesmerizing experience - I’m pretty sure that’s what a religious trance felt like ahhhh 💗 BREATHES. It’s now been a day since my birthday and I’ve spent a lot of it repeatedly tapping the replay button - listening to it as I work, humming to it while I walk around the house, blasting it in the car with my mom (you’re welcome). Yanderaf strikes again with the yandere birthday songs - and I am totally okay with this being a bun-birthday tradition if it means dulcet smooth tones as you basically seduce me by saying “be mine or burn”; and I mean, I’m already yours since we’re married, but if you’re into some fire-play we could also sneak that into this marria-*SMACKED* Listening to this, I’m once again reminded of how absolutely blessed I am to have you as my best friend. Not gonna lie, if Frollo was actually female it would have made the villain even better. Not to say Frollo isn't a damn good disney villain, but if Frollo was a woman of the cloth trying to fight back her feelings she has towards another woman, not only would it have had the same impact and repercussions as the male version but the underlying internal fight would have been more justified (in why Frollo went crazy, not that it's ok lol), and when villains are more justified in any manner it makes them more compelling by noticeable degrees. I kind of want this movie now lol Needless to say fantastic job, you really brought the character to life with this!

This is my favorite female cover of Hellfire. What really does it for me is the controlled and cold and menacing voice when she says, "Get our you idiot. I'll find her. I'll find her if I have to burn down all of Paris." And the fact that the guy in the song pretending to be a soldier actually sounded French. Instead of just sounding English like in the cartoon. Loved it!

Hellfire wasn't enough to keep me from getting chills. I love the unique touches each of my fav covers of this has. Elsie's had an air of sadness, touched with panic and desperation. Anna's held longing and anger. But this one holds pure desire and insanity. It's amazing.

I somehow didn't recognize Lyra until I read the description, but she looks as beautiful as ever amid the (awesome) fire effects, and throwing her name into the lyrics is a nice touch...or not, considering her implied predicament. You know, Hellfire always stands out. It's such a dark song in an otherwise forgettable movie. I always felt that it was because Disney kept going back and forth between doing a kids movie, and one with more mature themes. Still, even if the movie itself was useless, it gave us this song, and your rendition of it is properly chilling.

I cannot properly articulate how wildly unsettling this version is (that is not a bad thing!). It’s just wild to me how simply making Frollo's part female completely transforms the entire atmosphere of the song. No longer is it proud but shameful; no more boasting fury, but bitterness and resentment and resignation. It’s so harrowingly complex. As a bi woman, I don't think I've ever encountered any piece of art that so succinctly captured the absolute self-destruction of internalized homophobia, especially in regards to the context of religion and Catholicism specifically. Like, I think this version is spectacular, but I also want to get as far away from it as possible. ...maybe I could articulate it, after all.
