I adore Marta. She looks and moves exquisitely. Not to mention her throw kill is a gut slice, to running them through from behind. :3 Funnily enough, her dress is not so long that she'll trip on it or step on it. It's about ankle high, so it still floats above her feet! Also, I would love to own a replica of her dress one day. :3
That is a misconception. While Longswords where definitely a tad heavier than rapiers, the difference was not so severe that you couldn't block them with one generally. Rapiers where not "light" swords like small swords or Cutlasses. They usually where full sized swords averaging about 1.5 to 2.5 pounds in weight. While Longswords weight averages from about 2.5 to 3.5 pounds. Not that big of a difference. You can find Videos of people blocking heavy weapons with rapiers irl here on RU-vid.
I don't think she has the entirety of her legs rendered hahaha considering the dress is so fluid and goes up often, perhaps he should actually render it.
I don't like the long flowing dress, looks too easy to step on and have it interfere with ones footing, potentially causing a trip. I do like how they bind their sleeves.
agreed, the takeaway move from Marta was definitely a go to move in terms of either disengaging/countering or a psuedo parry if a horizontal attack comes my way. or in maries case disengaging to go around her own blade the moment she commits. that fact that Marta has a number of mobile side stepping moves also helps with her defense, or at least avoidance from being struck while countering. will play with marta some more, but for now i see marie being more offensively centric while Marta is the area of control kind of character
That's pretty much what the Spanish rapier style (Destreza) that Marta uses is about. Defense, circular movements, and angled attacks, while Marie's Italian style uses more direct and straightforward lunges.
yeah, but after a couple of rounds i felt like i really understood her playstyle. to me she fights like a olympic epee fencer but without a whole lot of movement. being able to play with kalkstein helped abit too and that carried over when playing marta.
Some that I want is a Samurai/Kendo inspired Character, since this game reminded me of a PS1 game Called Bushido Blade, and most likely was inspired by It, also would be a cool adition Also I would want a Claymore User, maybe a Highlander Celtic Warrior, with no Armor
@@Kravenrogue There are two problems with it; 1. The game is set in Commonwealth of Poland-Lithuania. All characters so far are people you could meet them out there in the XVIIth century, along with their fighting styles. Black guy too. There were even Black noblemen in the Commonwealth. 2. Katana is about the lenght of a sabre, but it's weight makes it necessary to fight with two hands most of the time. Add lack of finger protection and you've got a problem. All sabre vs. katana fights I know are ruled as sabre wins in like seconds, because katana fighters receives a hit to the fingers and he can't even get his opponent in range. Katanas only worked in Japan because it was isolated and Japanese had a problem making light and durable swords. That's why it's so hefty although it looks small.
@@piotrmalewski8178 thats some good points, but even thou the game is realistic in those points, we would also see very rarely woman dueling, or Fighting, or even using Swords, we know how Joana D'Arc was treated, so a Samurai would be strange yes, but not entirely Impossible, maybe a Mussashi Myiamoto inspired Samurai would fit, he would want to find good Fighters to test his Skills and such.
The longsword should be able to bear down or beat down a rapier in a parry. The rapier blade will bend with the strike, driving the blade out of line while communicating the force into the hand. The rapier should not be used in a beat parry on a longsword. The sword should be placed out of line while the swordsman physically avoids the blade and looks to reposit on the original line having brought the blade around for a thrust or on the new line opened by the body's movement. Since the rapier can cut in a draw or push cut, the longsword should beat the rapier blade aside then step into and inside the rapier point for a thrust or a short bladed thrust, followed by a push to put the rapier at range for a chopping move.
A beat is mostly a sabre thing, I guess you could do it with longsword too. A rapier, just like literally any sword with a guard, can block a longsword if you use the strong- there is about a 500 gram difference between the two. What exactly do u mean by beat parry? You wouldn't attempt to use a beat attack with a rapier against a larger two handed sword, but not sure what you mean by parries- a beat is when you hit the tip of your sword against the tip of their sword, so trying to parry would basically be parrying yourself.
