Hi Keith! your videos are really amazing. I'm a brazilian guy looking for informations about living in Portugal, but in english language to pratice my listening. Your channel is perfect, keep doing that. Best regards.
There is an American that has an English school in Quinta do Conde, Sesimbra. She is always looking for teachers/tutors, but you are up in Braga, so not sure if that can work. Still if you would like, let me know and I will get her contact. Good luck and enjoy Portugal-we love to have you as our guest! Cheers!
@@keeferportabella I need to wait unti next week. My car is in the shop, and will only be ready on Fri. PM. On Monday I will stop by the school to talk to her, then I will reach out to you with the info. I hope it works out for you. Also, get a hold of Richard Zimler in Porto. He is an American author fm NY; he has been here since the 90's and he teaches at the Porto University. I am sure he would be willing to get to know you and give you guidance and assistance. His husband is a very well known Portuguese scientist and he also taught at Porto Uni; retired now. FYI there is a very cold front coming Fri night. Apt up North especially are frigid. Get yourself some wood fr the fire and buckle up for temps in the 30F -0 C plus windshield. Cheers!
Hey Keith, hope all is well with you up in Braga! As I told you my car is still in the shop; fingers crossed fr tomorrow it being ready. In the meantime I have been trying to get a hold of the American School via phone, but they only open @ 4pm and I am in class myself at that time. When I call later, apparently they have already started sit down class, so I have not been able to speak to anyone. I will go there on Mon. in afternoon as the are open till late. If you wish to reach out as well, the name of place is Exuberanteideia Language School, Praceta de Juventude, Nº14, 2º A, 2975-339 Quinta do Conde, Sesimbra. Tel # 939053928, don't call the 211 nr. on their website (non working nr.) plus their email is info@exuberanteideia.com. As I said, not sure if this can work with you in Minho, but no harm in trying. I will keep you posted on Monday. Have a great week-end! Cheers😁
So, US grad schools pay PhD students a small stipend, (often below the poverty line, exactly enough to survive on if you're frugal). Do you get something similar from your school in Portugal?
Unfortunately, no. Scholarships and things of this nature are reserved mostly for Portuguese and Brazilian students, and really only for undergrads and masters students.
Yikes. Okay. When I was at grad school, I made ends meet by tutoring. That goes well with your teaching experience, but then there's the language barrier...
m1kclark I am teaching private classes as often as I can afford, but it's for very little money and the work is spotty at best. Thanks for the thoughts though!
