Hello Friends! One of Hello Kitty’s favorite activities is baking cookies and to help us get into the holiday spirit, we’re going to show you how to make Hello Kitty gingerbread cookies. These cookies are soft and full of warm spice so they are the perfect way to ring in the holiday season. We’re also going to show you how to decorate your own supercute and super sweet Hello Kitty inspired gingerbread house! This is a great activity that you can do with your friends and family this holiday season.

Materials Needed
Cookies
3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1 large egg
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
3 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
Hello Kitty x Michaels cookie cutter
Hand mixer
Large bowl
Medium bowl
Whisk
Royal Icing + Cookie Decorating
3 c. powdered sugar
3 egg whites
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
Red food coloring
Plastic ziplock bag, or Hello Kitty Frosting Bag
Toothpick
Little red candies
Yellow fondant
Decorating
Thick white frosting
Gingerbread house kit
Gumdrops
Candy shapes
Fondant

Ice cream sugar cones
(01:18) Step 1: Combine flour, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda, nutmeg and salt.
(01:27) Step 2: In another bowl, mix the butter and brown sugar using a hand mixer. Once it’s fluffy, add the egg, molasses and vanilla. Combine with the dry ingredients gradually.
(01:45) Step 3: Divide dough in half and create two discs and wrap each in plastic wrap and chill until firm, about 2 to 3 hours.
(01:52) Step 4: Once chilled, roll out the dough between two pieces of parchment paper. Using the cookie cutter, cut out Hello Kitty.
(01:58) Step 5: Preheat your oven to 350°. Bake them on an ungreased baking sheet, until slightly puffed, about 9-10 minutes.
(02:29) Step 6: In a bowl, beat the egg whites until they’re frothy. Add the vanilla and powdered sugar gradually. Once the icing is smooth, separate some into a bowl and add two drops of red food coloring. Add the white frosting to a sandwich bag, or the Hello Kitty Frosting Bag from the Hello Kitty x Michaels collection.
(02:58) Step 7: Start by icing Hello Kitty's bow, head and body. Let the icing harden before filling in the bow with the red frosting. Make her nose with a dot of yellow fondant, use the red candies for her buttons and finish by adding her eyes and whiskers.
(03:41) Step 8: To start, pipe some snowy white frosting and cover it in cookie shingles! To make the windows, use yellow fondant, add red for the door to match her bow and then a little more frosting to create sweet snow! To finish off the house place gumdrops in a row along the bottom in festive colors.
(04:16) Step 9: Decorate the outside of Hello Kitty’s house by adding trees made of waffle cones with white frosting and her signature bow made out of red fondant added to the tops of the trees.
