I liked that episode too, but it seemed like the focus was more on saying goodbye to Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, and Kyle Mooney (this was before we discovered that there'd be more cast members leaving, like Alex Moffat, Chris Redd, Melissa Villasenor, and Aristotle Athari).

I had no idea I was a year older than Hello Kitty - I mean I knew I had gotten older, but that kind of thing is really disturbing? At least I'm married to a human that looks human, we have a kid who's 21 (we're all allergic to cats too) - but I've never made millions on useless crap & will never get back the birthday money I spent on stickers, stampers, candy, or grab bags with useless tiny coin purses, melted lip glosses, mis-shaped erasers or broken jump ropes 😂

@@gir5o1 they disproved this years go because people took the creators words out of context. she is like mickey mouse. she has a cat just like mickey has a dog. they're both animals but own pets. its clear. some have called to ask sanrio about this and they confirm she isn't human. my bf tried to tell me shes human and still denies my counterclaims. some say it would make sense to say shes a cat in America but in japan no, which is where the creator is from. things can get mixed up in translation as well. people perceive things differently.

Any thoughts on the recent growth and popularity of Hello Kitty? I’ve seen Sanrio characters pop up in weird places, for instance, I’m a self-taught artist [my life dream is to be an expressionist painter!], I like anime and fashion and I draw a lot of Japanese street art fashion, I’ve seen Kuromi become super popular online especially among the more “edgy” aesthetics like Jirai Kei fashion, also weirdcore art, not sure if you have any idea what that is. Any way, pardon my rambling, I just like art and aesthetics and trends.

I consider myself a sanrio lore scholar (I'm 19 and this is my hyper fixation). There are 3 stages in the main hello kitty timeline. The primary colors in her town with her family is her actual third grade life. In this part, she's a tomboy (something I see mentioned often but she's in the girliest dresses most of the time), she lives with her parents and has a twin sister as well as friends who aren't individual mascots yet. I think the time line advances during the game "hello kitty big city dreams" where she goes to the big city and gets her apartment for the first time and that's where she becomes the celebrity she is now (modelling and piano most likely). The pastel stuff with other sanrio characters (as would be seen in sanrio puroland) is her equivalent of hollywood life and being friends with other influencers/celebrities and it's why we don't see mimi in that scenario as often. The hyperfeminine pink aesthetic as seen in universal Studios hello kitty is her in universe branding. There's some stuff I missed, like how she dated Tuxedo Sam before she dated Dear Daniel but this is a very rough draft of a timeline

But every fact about hello kitty is true… she is viewed by Sanrio as a little girl

I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think we can rule out the possibility of the merch being lent to the show by someone. Years ago, when SNL did a sketch about Star Wars toys, many of the items were from the personal collection of Bobby Moynihan, who was in the cast at the time and is quite a geek himself in real life.
