I'm a retired (83-y-old) press photographer living in Northumberland who has just found your channel and just had to comment on how much I have enjoyed watching. So gentle and lovely to watch in the evening with a small dram. Keep it up.
I too am an artist. This channel speaks to me. I met my husband online many years ago. It took me from the south to the north east coast. We resided there for 21 years and then the pandemic hit. As bad as that was with lockdowns and all, it opened a fabulous door, for him to be afforded the luxury, to work from home. We sold our home last year, and I persuaded him to by a house in the south. I too have found my happy place. My backyard is all woods. Full of life. My witchy heart is so happy and I’m finally at peace. My muse is back and I’ve been painting like a mad woman. Oh the joy of creativity. My ancestry is Scottish, Irish and welsh. I carry 2 genes of hereditary hemochromatosis and was finally diagnosed in 2020. I’m under treatment and It saved my life. Its a quite common condition, among the Celtic people. My heart longs to see Scotland and Ireland one day. To walk where my ancestors originated would be a dream come true. My husband has promised to fulfill that dream one day. Sorry to be so long winded. All this to say is I loved this vlog. ☘️💚
Oh how I’m going to love this new art adventure of yours ❤️❤️ Because I have Shelties, I’m all about everything Scotland. The scenery is breathtaking. I’m the type of person who lives for experiences instead of material things (except art supplies...I must have lots of art supplies😀). I’m not so sure about haggis, or black pudding, but I’m all over Mac and cheese pie.
Thank you Sarah! I'm from Massachusetts "New England" and was fortunate to travel a bit throughout Scotland one year on a tour while visiting family in the South of England. I was smitten by Scotland like no other place. I can't really explain it well enough to others but I so enjoy that it seems you've had a similar reaction (adorable life-partner aside ;-) I look forward to your future videos...and of course my ability to get back there!
Thankyou sarah for showing off our country we are not perfect but what we have is good we tend take things for granted thanks for pointing out the finer detail Your videos are so relaxing .xxx
Welcome to Scotland....I’m in Dumbarton near Loch Lomond..hope you’ve managed to see this part of Scotland and if not, it’s a must do. I popped over from your art channel when you mentioned you had immigrated here. Your videography is stunning and I look forward to seeing this beautiful land through your lens
Thank you! I have not explored Loch Lomond yet but it's high on my list! I almost went this summer but had a change of plans. I am determined to go next summer.
@@sarahinscotland, defintely you should...it's beautiful in the winter too especially on a crisp sunny winter's day...I'm currently trying to paint watercolours from the many photos I've taken there at various times of the year
So excited to discover your channel, Sarah. For years I have wanted to participate in the Trees for Life rewilding project and in June I am finally going to do it. So now I am watching everything I can find about Scotland, especially the highlands. I'll be back. Thanks again.
I love your videos, Sarah! Thank you for sharing Scotland with us! Best of luck with your new channel! 😊 I’m in Portland, Oregon. I have been following your art channel for many years now and find you so inspiring!
Hi Lisa, thank you! I've always wanted to visit Portland or the PNW in general, maybe use it as a jumping off point to see the redwoods! But now I have friends on Whidbey Island so it's high on my list!
Wow... I never saw such an aesthetic RU-vid video 😍.... This video gave me all kind of happy feels and literally transported me to all these places you showed us... I am really so moved by the video I had to type in this comment.... A big thanks to you for creating this channel and showing us the beauty of Scotland thru your eyes 💖💖
Hello from Florida! Really find your way of filming/cinematography relaxing, beautiful and overall just lovely. Also your voice is very calming and peaceful. If that is your goal, mission accomplished! 🙂 Well done.
Howdy Sarah, I have come over from your other channel, as you set it up so well, it was easy to click the link under the video. So glad to be here too. This is brilliantly shot. Drone work, fantastic. Sharing this with a friend. You guys are so cute together. I am a forest woman too. Isn't it wonderful to have the artist eye? I used to teach woodwork and metalwork, trained in art, went to learn Montessori for a few years. Now, I call myself a writer, illustrator. Stay safer in this crazy world, dream to actual concrete tangibles, measurable.. Enjoy! In kindred spirit Eliza Dulwich Hill, Sydney Australia
Hi 🙋🏼♀️ I'm from the woods of Arkansas with 100% humidity 🥴 I now live in Kansas City Missouri. I'm married to a Filipino for 29 years. Been a nurse for 32 years. I've been to 17 countries, including Scotland (but only in Edinburgh). Both sides of my family are Scottish (Rankins clan MacLean & MacDonald from Glencoe). Love your videos & art. I'm from an artistic family🥰 I think we're kindred spirits.
Great video, you def got that Scotland is all about the light. I’m a photographer and the hours I’ve spent waiting for ‘that shot’ is way to much. Nice one, great vid…..
Hi Sarah. Just discovered your channel. I live in Northern Ireland and I am a landscape photographer who has visited Scotland many times over the years and just love the country. I favour the west coast and the highlands. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
Welcome! I've been to Ireland once, it was wonderful! We had a full week of hot sun, and I got a sunburn! Everyone said it was not usual but it made it enjoyable since we were traveling a ton
Hi Lily! I've only been to a couple places in California, it was so warm but I enjoyed it for the brief visits 🥵 northern CA and the redwoods are on my bucket list!!
Wow Sarah! I'm a retired physician (75) in Florida and just found your Channel. My ancestors are from Scotland (MacDonald clan) and I have been impressed about the videos I have seen from Scotland. Your's has certainly captured my interest and I hope to see many more. Thanks for what you are doing. I loved this video!
@@sarahinscotland You, me and the excessive milk drinker actually used to be roommates for a little while there in Lakewood. I was going to mess with you, but I figured that wouldn't be nice.
Hi Sarah, i’ve been following you Indeed for a long time on your art channel. You are an inspiration to me. I’m a beginning outdoor painter (watercolor) and like to hike and wander around. Must do this more, but as I see your vlogs, i can’t wait to go outside and explore! Your new country is beautyfull.. i can’t wait to follow your coastal journey. I live in Belgium, if you want to explore my country, feel free to connect!
Thank you so much for this video. It touched me. The natural beauty is unrivaled. I have only been once but have talked to my husband about moving there one day. We are in CA. 🏕️🦌
Oh Sarah, I am going to love this channel! My grandma’s parents immigrated to the United States from Scotland (Edinburgh Lanarkshire). I’ve always always wanted to visit there. (I’m 62). Seven years ago I became disabled and my dreams of exploring Scotland were squashed. When I heard you wanted to share it with us I was more than thrilled. I’m so excited to see it’s beauty and to travel with you. Thank you so so much!! I am from the United States (Wyoming) so I am very familiar with your dry climate of Colorado. I didn’t realize Scotland was so wet and humid. Anyway, thank you again! I can hardly wait for video #2.
Hello! I'm so glad I can help you see this beautiful country if you can't travel here. I hear Wyoming is amazing too (I just watched a beautiful video by Allison Anderson). In fact there are so many places in the states that I still need to visit!
Thank you for creating this channel! I’m subscribed to your other channel too. I love to paint and love Ireland/Scotland! Can’t wait to see more of both!
Congrats Sarah on your new channel. I’ve been following you for years and look forward to this. My heritage is Scottish. I dream of getting there one day but don’t know if it will be possible for health reasons. But I am already enjoying all the information you are giving in your videos which are always beautiful. I wish you great success with it. My family (Ross) was from the highlands and a grandmother of mine, I forget how many generations back was married to the king of Scotland and lived in Bagnagowan castle. I wish that it could be seen but alas, that’s no longer possible with the prince who now owns it. And your husband is so cute. I think that’s the most he’s said in any of your videos. Gotta love the Scottish brogue. I’m curious as to what Cullen skink is?? Maybe I spelled that wrong but me being Scottish descent and my husband Irish (hence the name Cullen) I’m curious.
Thank you! So happy you'll get to see a bit of Scotland through my videos! Cullen Skink is a soup with fish (I think smoked haddock?), potatoes, onions and cream mostly. It originated from the town Cullen which I've been to in one of my art videos! (The one about using reference, I was on a beach).
Beautiful videography! Looking forward to watching your shared experiences (and don’t you just want to paint everything you see?) My dream was always to live in a quaint little rustic cottage somewhere and you’re definitely living the dream.
Congratulations on your new channel Sarah, it’s so cinematic and magical as always! I’m looking forward to your inspiring videos. P.S. side parted hair makes you look beautiful ☺️😉✌️❤️🌸
Share similar feelings when we magically attracted by Edinburgh We just stay Ocean Forest Moss Fern Flowers Nature in your doorsteps Love your narration Sweet intellectual words at perfect soft slow pace
8:49 Bealach Na Ba - Pass of the cattle, road from Kishorn to Applecross. So much to see around there that is off the beaten track that most tourists and visitors never see.
I love the forest too Sarah, there's something magical about being amongst the trees, especially in the ancient forests. We have some here where we live in the south (south of England that is, in West Sussex)
I first discovered you through your wonderful art videos, Sarah, and now I'm totally hooked on your journey. I'm working my way through all your vlogs and thoroughly enjoying them! Hugs to you from Australia.
I was born in Scotland but moved abroad ( Norway ) 12 years ago. I don't ' get ' the whole fuss about Scottish landscape / nature etc. ? The US and Canada have huge areas of forest / mountains / lakes ..even deserts . ! Norway and Switzerland have stunning scenery . Same in Austria ..Slovakia etc. I've been to all those places and most of them are more spectacular than Scotland . Must be me ...?
I'm so excited you started this channel! Can't wait for all the adventures you'll take us on! Oh! I'm an Ent too! The forest is my heart ❤ My dream is to move to Scotland someday... and you two are utterly adorable!!!
I share your feeling about Scotland. Iwent all aroung Scotland one glorieux summer with my two French freinds. We loves it. ,, it is in mu thought a lot. I wish you a lot of happy time .
Goals are never really unachievable, they just need varying degrees of determination 🙂. As a child all I wanted to do was escape to art school but my childhood wasn't an average happy one, at 16 instead of thinking college, my only choice was to move into a place of my own and take numerous jobs to support myself. Move forward 35yrs, 4 kids & 28yrs of being wife & mother.. im about to move myself to Elgin and do that fine art degree. Some goals just need patience and sheer determination.
I agree! Goals can also be a moving target. If we only focus on the goal, we’ll miss life along the way. More important to focus on enjoying the journey (while working towards the goal when possible).
It looks so beautiful there and so Spiritual Scotland 🏴 is the perfect place to meditate 🧘♂️ feel the ground become 1 with nature talk with our Heavenly Father Everything looks perfect
Hi Sarah, just saw your recent Scotland and story time video on your other channel and really liked your storytelling so I thought I'll sneak a peak here as well. Thank you for inviting us on this journey. Your and Scotland's energy is just what I need at this time of returning pandemic. My kettle just boiled and I'm happy to have a few months worth of content to binge as I sit down with my coffee and enjoy the blizzard outside, on the outskirts of Prague.
What an excellent introduction to your channel and your time/life in Scotland. Just this first video shows so many different and beautiful views of this land (oh the forest, yes). I live in Washington State. My ancestors are from Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Denmark ( tho I love Scotland most). I have visited Scotland twice, once for one week and the second time for a month. As a child, I lived with my family in the Philippines for 5.5 years and in Fargo for one year. My passion is travel and learning. I am so looking forward to following your channel and learning through your eyes and your words. I love that "dot" out in the Atlantic, past the outer Hebrides, on your to-do list. To think that people used to live out there on that island, it's pretty special. Thank you.
Hi Sarah! I'm glad I found your youtube channel because I want to move to Scotland soon. I'm a graphic designer, video editor, youtuber myself with background in filmmaking (producing mainly). You have a very calming voice and I love your storytelling skills ❤
Congrats on the new channel! I've been following your art channel for a while and am very excited to see more footage of Scotland. Your drone footage and general photography are always so beautiful and soothing. I was fortunate enough to visit right at the end of 2019 and hope to return some day to soak in more of the sights. We have the same saying about the weather (wait five minutes) in Florida 😂
I'm taking my first solo trip to Scotland (Edinburgh and the highlands) in a months' time. Not only is it my much needed solo trip but it's my painting holiday. I cannot wait to explore the light, the seasons, the forests and hills. Your vlogs and painting channels are inspiring me!
I’ve lived in Aberdeenshire all my life, (68 yo) sadly I’ve taken the beauty of it for granted, it really is awesome. Now I’m retired I’ve travelled the length and breadth of Scotland, can’t get enough of it.
Hi.. I am Isha and I am from India. I work with Indian Forest Services and currently I am living in state of Uttar Pradesh in India. I love to paint. It’s my favourite hobby and I have been following your other channel for quite some time. Scotland is pretty different from India and seeing the natural beauty of Scotland, it warms my heart. I am fan of your way of storytelling and your art. So hoping to enjoy videos in this channel as well. 😊
I'm running the risk of you thinking I'm stalking you as I'm watching all your earlier content on your other channel and saw you talking about this one, so I had to subscribe :) I love your beautiful, relaxing videos and your amazing art. I'm in Brisbane but my mother lives on the Isle of Skye near the Quiraing and I am a frequent visitor and totally share your awe for this incredible island - hopefully coming back over in the next month or so. Your channels sustain me between visits - thank you :)
Hi Sarah, just found your channel and will be working my way through your videos. Thinking of moving to Scotland so these are wonderful insights... especially interesting as Colorado has been one of my wishlist places to live too and yet you moved from there 😮 to Scotland, I can’t think of a better recommendation.
I am so jealous of where you live! And Colorado isn't bad either! I grew up and live in Houston. Coastal plain: very flat. There is certainly still beauty here, but not a lot of variety. It's just....flat. Our coast is flat. Our ocean is brown. On the plus side, I'm easily impressed by even the smallest amount of variation in a landscape! The only "hills" around here are actually the remains of mounds built by Native Americans centuries ago. And BTW, humans have been in the Americas for at least 14,000 years -- so it's been populated longer than Scotland???? That's trippy!
Oh I totally feel you..I've been in places that are very flat and boring and I feel kind of trapped. And yes, the earliest traces of humans in Scotland dates back 14,000 but the Americas have evidence dating back possibly as old as 33,000 years (Neanderthals) because of the land bridge linking Asia and Alaska.
Well, as a Scotsman here are a few things you really, really need to know, so here goes (in no order); The weather - - - don't plan too far in advance, an old saying here is, if you don't like the weather, hang on for 20 minutes, sure we get good spells, but in the main our summer is maybe late July to mid September, winters can be brutal with cold going as low as -15 Celsius. The scenery is spectacular, especially when you start going north, Spittal of Glenshee to Ballater is a brilliant drive The people are friendly, and it's a rare thing for any tourist to get lost....... people will ask you if you're lost and help out. Cost of living is less than America, and the prices displayed are what you get charged (no taxes to be added which annoys me when in America), but if you own a car - - it costs about double here than USA. Scotland invented just about everything..... seriously, for example, Bank of England, United States Navy, toasters, fridges, pneumatic tyres, penicillin, TV, phones, MRI scanners, Tarmac roads, animal cloning, pedal bicycle, wire rope, steam hammer, the list goes on and on.......... not bad for a country of about 5 million (half of New York's)
I've been longing to move to Scotland for many years now. This video is awesome. Thank you. New subscriber. Looking forward to eating all the shite Scotland has to offer. LOL 👍
Dear Sarah, nice to meet you! My name is Maayan. I live in Israel with my partner Yair and our 4 kids. Your video is beautiful and inspiring. My daughter Keshet (which means rainbow in Hebrew ) is a young artist - she films and draws and sings in a quire. So I will definitely share your videos with her. We are planning to move to Scotland in a year. All the best and thank you!
I have come over from your art channel. My other half keeps saying he's going to take me to Scotland. He loves it. My grandparents have visited almost yearly all their lives too. It looks so inspiring 😊 fingers crossed we get to visit soon
I was born in Edinburgh, but have travelled the world with the Military for over 30 years. The only city that I think rivals Edinburgh in any way Is Rome
Hi Sarah! I found your new channel through your art channel. I can't tell I'm going to be having to put limits on myself or I won't get anything done. Going to paint now...
Haha Cathy I totally know that feeling...I need to stop myself from watching videos a lot! Or at least save them for "after hours" so I can still be productive
How do you deal with the miggies. I am going to the Iyland off Arran in August but I got told I will have a problem with miggies. Have you been to Arran if so what is it like. Thank you.
Where in the Highlands are you? I have been to Aberdeen and Edinburgh, but have not explored outside of there. Any suggestions on places to visit in the Highlands?
i would like to know how is the real life in Scotland like everyday, how much is the rent for a apartment , how much is the daily grocery shopping and how hard is a new start there. I live in Greece and I want to make a new beginning in Scotland
Hi Sarah I am from Australia I have always wanted to go to Scotland. I have a friend who lives in Troon will you be going there at all would love to see around that area
Congrats Sarah on your new channel. Love hanging out with you, love your artwork, your photography and your absolute LOVE of nature and how you see beauty in everything too. Best wishes on your new endeavour and thankyou from Australia 😊
Hi Sarah, utube is sending me some old videos to catch up on. This was great, everything you say about Scotland is so true. I paint and document the days with scetches and photograpghy. So so much to see and bring joy. Woofie is a braw looking Scot, he made me laugh with his fave foods. Dunnet Head, that's some place, just love it. From one butterfly to another thanks for sharing, and hope you are feeling better Alioban xx
I absolutely loved this video 😻 I've only visited Edinburgh and Glasgow, but I want so badly to get to know Scotland better and see all these wonders by myself 🌲🌲
